Great job filming and giving instructions at the same time. This was great. clear and precise instructions on how to place back the cover plate and how to set and adjust the clutch lever. Nicely done
very good job! after watching your video I noticed I did wrong in all 3 FJ09 I have. I upgrade my 2015 and 2 2015 FJ09 to slipper clutch and put the last friction plate just like all the others. drove like this for long time with no problems at all. but as I said, after watching your video and confirming in the 2017 FJ09 book, I open the clutch in all 3 bikes and correct it. Thank you!!
Thank you! Yes they should stay lined up after attaching the cable. If not, some minor adjustment may be needed. My friction area changed a bit but I preferred it where it ended up rather than factory. Worse case scenario replace your cable.
@@with1nt3mptation23 nice! Glad it helped! Let me know how it feels when you're done. My friction zone changed on my clutch lever (hand). I couldn't adjust it to get it where it was but I think I like it better now where it is anyway.
something around 8-14nm. Its not much. (on honda its 12nm) using electric screwdriver is bad idea, you really need the pressure there to be specific and EVEN on all of those. (yea 3 years too late, but i leave that for others)
You changed the clutch basket at 1,300 miles? I don't think that's correct but that's what you said in the start of the video. Anyways good content thanks for posting.
Yea....burned it up doing one wheel things lol better stick to two. Thank you! I hope it helps a lot of people. I imagine there might be better videos out there now.
@@zachluster8579 ok since you were hoonin that makes sense 😂. I've got 20,200 miles on my 17'. No dank wheelies though, but someday I might tackle the clutch job myself thanks to videos like yours. I do all the other work myself might as well do the clutch too.
Actually I think I just called my local parts house and gave them the Vin, they looked it up and ordered it for me. Yamahasportspartswarehouse should have it though
hey may i know did u burnt ur clutch due to prolonged use or something else. for example my QS failed going from gear 5 to 6. then i smell something burning, and my bike immediately feel 'smoother' when opening throttle, not that sudden uumph. my bike is just 3000km on the odometer. sad
@@zachluster8579 thanks man I may have to do that.. I found a kit for the xsr900 which should be the same. I just don't want to pay parts house mark up for something I'm going to be replacing myself
I hear you. Sometimes they'll give you the part number and you can search it that way. My local parts house doesn't charge much mark up and their system finds the factory parts. Although it takes a while to come in.
Not sure haven't used b mode since the day I bought it lol. I have had times where it won't shift from 1st to 2nd unless I stop and change to standard mode. It's not smooth at all though I feel the whole bike move when I shift.
@@zachluster8579 I feel the same way man. It's very clunky, my 2002 ninja was smoother than this. Maybe it's made for the quickshifter I don't know I mainly have issues upshifting.

I’m having problem lining up those two dots, this is helpful. I’ll give it another try. Thanks for posting.
Yea it's a pain. Just get a feel for it and keep trying.
Great video and explanation man. Thanks much!
You don’t need the oem clutch you can now buy a barnette and add the r1 spring clutch too
My bike rolls forward when I go into first and hold the clutch in
Yaitstac, my bike is now doing the same thing and only after replacing my clutch cover. Do you remember what solved your problem?
@@emmagarcia6895 adjusting the clutch from the top

Great video. I just replaced my clutch cover but now I have no false neutral. Did your notch and arrow stay lined up after you connected the cable?

Gotta love how you just slap the cover on the concrete, nice scratches
Lol how I I roll
Can you get stronger springs so the clutch lever let's out faster?
how tight do you have to put on the 3 spring screws @ 11:29? is there a torque spec?
Probably is but I just snugged them down and its been good so far
@@zachluster8579 thanks for your video. Almost done with my 2014 slipper clutch retrofit. Those 3 spring nuts torque is 10 nm, or 7.2 ft-lb.

what is the name of that spring @1:38 of the video?
Its the clutch arm spring

Literally unscrew the socket heads and disconnect the clutch lever.
Not rocket appliance.
5quarts? It holds 2.8quarts when its dry. But everything else was great xD
The 5 quarts was extra to soak the plates overnight. But thank you!
The last ones to go in are the thinner ones??
