I Like pioneer which I have used for years because of the sound quality and I can download customize the background with logo's. Do the JVC and Kenwood do these. Nobody mentions that?
I dont know what HU to get. I have about $350 to spend but can go a little over budget. I want to get something that will last, is reliable, and just is all around good HU.
I honestly think that 4x40w really is all you need these days. Amps.....crossovers....subs...meh. Just get a 4x40 from a reputable brand (usual suspects, Sony, Kenwood, JVC etc) or push the boat out and get a 4x50 and be done with. Most cost effective and don't really need much more. Inside cars have become much more refined from the fiestas and escorts from yesteryear and road noise doesn't need to be over come for most of us. Just get an android head unit and don't waste your money on anything more. It's not worth the expense.

If my car is BMW and the subscription with Connected Drive has expired. Do you recommend wrapping the head unit with after market one? If so, what's available for car like BMW or Mercedes-Benz?
Mario, Your best bet for overall performance would be the Sony XAV-AX7000, though note that your speakers will need to be able to handle the 4x100 RMS it puts out. If you want/need CD/DVD playback, the Sony doesn't have it, so I'd aim you towards the Kenwood DDX6906S. This would be my "personal" selection, as it also offers Digital Time Alignment (which is a blessing). If you're just looking for the cheapest model to get you by, there's the Sony XAV-AX1000. Alternatively, adding an upmixer should give you the ability to "add" a center channel, regardless of what HU you buy, but that may not be the most economical way to go about things.

Yeah alpine hasn’t had those for a while. Normally they were $299 but raised the retail to $349 and we still can’t get them. I’ve seen them as high as $750 on Amazon!!!! I like that radio at $300-$350 but $750. No way!! We have several hundred on order but there is no ETA so maybe look at JVC or Sony. Their stock is better then most
24 Bit/192 kHz is not needed for most music files and it says nothing about the quality of the DAC itself. More important is a digital output if you want to use a DSP. But you have to omit this feature because most of the headunits, especially from the traditional brands don't have one. And I guess you sell only these headunits...

Do not buy any Pioneer products. I purchased a brand new AVH-W4500NEX Double Din Head Unit in May of 2020. By the beginning of August 2021, the head unit froze and went into a constant boot screen. Pioneer used the cheapest SD cards they could in these "top of the line" units, and after about a year (right past the 1 year manufacturers warranty) the SD card becomes corrupt rendering the head unit useless. You can either pay Pioneer almost $200 to fix it, or buy another unit. They will not help in any way. My head unit was almost $700, and lasted just over a year. The issue is widely known and Pioneer refuses to do anything about it besides charge you to fix their mistakes after purchasing a "top of the line" head unit. Multiple models are affected.
