    I've had mine for nearly 2 years now and it's fantastic. Our tap water here is horrible. Over 330 ppm. All this time and I never realized you could use the flushing button for continuous flow. 😅I just press the dispensing buttons again if I want more water. I also liked that they changed the sizes to ounces now. Mine is in milliliters. 150 ml, 350 ml and 450 ml respectively.

      how often do you change the filters ,,, an does the machine tell you when

    • @MrNorthNJ
      @MrNorthNJ 6 місяців тому

      @@ketolifestyle68 Every 6 months. The two filter indicators on the front display will light up when the filters are about 90 percent EOL to let you know it's coming. They both start to blink when it's time to change them. The RO filter currently goes for 35 dollars. The CF is 25. You're looking at about 120 dollars a year (about 33 cents a day). I was spending way more than that on bottled water so it works out better for me. YMMV.

    In Florida at the house we sold had reverse osmosis and for every 4 gallons out of the well it made one gallon of good drinking water. The ratio was that way because of the high sulphur content. We had a company come out every 65 days and they owned the majority of the system and i of course had the rest. Over the time we lived there the pump went out and had to replace it and the captive air tank we had to replace it as well. Very good tasting water. The tank was 300 gallons and as it went down to a certain level the pumps would kick on. So now live in Missouri and we have a pump for the well and since we have lived here we had to have the pump replaced and also went with a water softener because this water is very hard.

    • @kd6844
      @kd6844 3 місяці тому

      Interesting. In NW Arkansas it is not hard. I often smell bleach from the tap however. Thinking of getting a shower filter. Itchy skin…
      In Arizona our water was extremely hard, went through softener salt by the truck load. Used locally filtered water for consumption.

      I bought one too after I disabled my Express RO system. I had one before and it leaks a few times flooding the kitchen but I bought a second one and it was a bear to install but it leaked 4 times in my brand new kitchen. Zero water is fine but the filters are costly and after 5 days we can taste chlorine where as before we didn't..I'm returning it and buying the SimPure!

    I was skeptical at first but anything less than 30ppm is bottled water.. because its RO worried me. Good for plants in hydroponic based prior to adding fertilizer. Situation could also bad for humans (as you said no minerals), because with real reverse osmosis there has to be a waste water outlet. Which I noticed this product doesn't have. Reverse osmosis requires a certain amount of pressure to filter down to maybe 8ppm.. Sulphur contaminated wells was a huge problem with well water in California. My opinion-- if the the TDS meter is calibrated correctly one is better off drinking well water over, say Seattle water, however simple gravity fed filter is suffice.. Cant see somebody lunging a car battery with an inverter around. Love the videos

      I forgot to mention that the wast water goes into a divided area in the tank when it's almost empty. I used to be worried about mineral content of RO water but we should be getting most of our minerals from fruits and vegetables.

    • @richardhayman4868
      @richardhayman4868 10 місяців тому +1

      "...anything less than 30ppm is bottled water" is not necessarily true. "Purified" water is typically RO water, and if you look at your labels, it will usually say something about "minerals added to enhance flavor." What they really mean is that "we added back in some minerals (mineral salt) so that this water isn't going to be a problem." Some people can get the minerals they need from what they eat. Others, and I'm guessing athletes fit in this category, consume enough water that they risk flushing electrolytes if they don't drink mineral-fortified drinks (e.g., Gatorade). We took salt pills back in the day. Low electrolyte level leads to muscle cramps...and worse.

      @@eramae After replacing the filters, you have to hit the reset button on the front panel. Make sure your tank is full and put in place correctly and it should flush. If not, then there might be a problem with the flush button. You could flush the system using the 15oz button pressing it every time it stops until the tank empties out .

    I noticed the water reservoir on the back is split into 2 distinct sections at the bottom half. Is one of those the discharge water that gets dumped when you refill the tank? Normally RO systems have some discharge for every gallon of filtered water made.

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  Рік тому

    Okay HELP! We have a sediment filter, then AO Smith whole house water filter, then it goes through water softner then a carbon filter (well water) our TDS coming out of the faucet (so filtered) is 1033! My water coming out of the machine is 152. Is that safe to drink and how could my water be that bad filtered?

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  Рік тому +2

      The water coming out of the machine is good to drink. But having a high particulate number going in will mean that you'll have to change the filters in the machine more often. You could try to find a better filter that filters down to 5 or 3 microns or less for you well water.

      RO works on the basis of differing concentrations; if you start with a higher concentration, you necessarily end up with higher concentration. If you were to process the water twice, then you would come down to 20-50ppm. I think they recommend intake water for this machine of no more than 500ppm TDS.

      When the main tank is empty, it will tell you. There's a small separate compartment at the bottom of the tank that holds the discharge water and you must empty it before refiling the tank.

    • @richardhayman4868
      @richardhayman4868 10 місяців тому

      Discharge water contains all the stuff that was removed from the water you actually drank! You don't want to use it. I'm guessing the extra salt content of the discharge water would probably not be good for plants, either.
