For those wondering what the senna is doing, mass air flow sensors (next to air filters) measure air going in & calculates fuel etc. Air leaks let extra air in, gets burnt & picked up by the air/fuel (o2) sensors as lean.. tries to add fuel to correct (fuel trims) & keeps adding until it sets codes..
That's why Alex says Kill the MAFs & just run on map sensors (manifold absolute pressure) which gets calculated with rpm & throttle position only, & no maf sensors.. also known as "speed density tuning".. aka the old way fuel injection was done before mass air flow sensors.. (pre-96ish)..
Speed density is the way for highly modded & don't care about drivability, not as smooth or fuel efficient as maf, but way easier to tune & run.. 🔧
Love to see someone knowing their stuff in the comments. Recently removed my maf on my Miata, installed a standalone, and went to map instead. Tuning is definitely finicky but now drives better than stock. Only thing I will add to what you said is map doesn’t use just rpm and throttle position, it needs a vacuum port and measures the amount of vacuum being pulled in the intake manifold along with the others to calculate airflow and add/remove fuel accordingly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's similar to the Alpha N tune for the E46 M3?

@@seansm6897 alpha n is actually the other way of tuning compared to speed density. Speed density uses the vacuum or boost pressure inside the manifold to measure airflow while alpha n only uses tps and rpm to pretty much make a really good guess of airflow to allow the tuner to add fuel nicely throughout the fuel table. Alpha n was more popular in older cars that couldn’t be ass precise with tuning with the older efi ecus so it helped with smoothing out fueling for idling and light throttle. Alpha n can definitely still be better in certain applications, they each have their benefits.
@@seansm6897 map can definitely be finicky and cause small issues in fueling because map sensors are very sensitive and the pressure changes very often but is it just fine if not better for certain applications especially boosted.

I think the senna is not needed or won't be. The 1300 whp 720 GTR flamethrower would be crazier in the streets when done and may even look as good or even better than the senna. The senna belongs to the tracks, but it's too big of a financial risk to track it. An egg or a pagani would be a nice replacement if ever.

Stephen is such a great addition to the channel - both in that you can already see the savings of not going to the manufacturer for the work but also in the knowledge to keep the cars on the road all of which gets us the fans more content of the cars and people we love! This is no diss on Essa, Tim or Shaun as they’re amazing in their fab and custom work, DDE really are taking it to the next level!!

I suggested getting the senna and u can always get the senna later again but McLaren is releasing a new p1 soon it could be better than senna so getting rid of it is a good choice but senna is a good stable car for the road so for safety on road trips less oversteer situations the senna is just the best for safely driving the way Damon drives

damon, so grateful to you and the team for the videos. so much hard work and its appreciated. So one thing i noticed. You got into the hurrican and the engine light came on, it never does. This was right after the senna was off. So the hurrican replaced the senna with a (uncharacteristic) engine light. Here's what I noticed - your manifesting it. You are into law of attraction. It works both ways. See if you can observe your attitude/perspective about your cars, or maybe its the business.... that you are holding a "negative" attitude about and then reverse it by positively affirming stuff like - my cars always work. Or when something crazy comes up - everything works in my favor. I never need to worry. You get it. I'm invested in the channel and want and see nothing but the best for you all.
Now with that, as someone who is paying attention and watching, you can see how this business can be stressful. Now, that is the most fundamental - your state of mind. For the ideal trajectory, ideal balance, for the success of the channel in general, how can you offload the stress without sacrificing production? How can you do that by this year (a phase 1) and then move forward.
Everyone knows that when you and Dave are in a great vibe, it translates as the best content no matter what you are doing. We all want to see you at your best. You are. So how can you change/shift some fundamentals to own and enjoy that all the time? If you solve that equation, I suspect you will find EVERYTHING else will take care of itself. It starts as a vibe/state of mind + feeling, then differentiates/osmosis itself into business, relationships, whatever. God bless!!!

You should talk to steve Hamilton with the hamilton collection, he had the same issue with his senna where he modified it and tuned it and he still had so many problems with so many iterations multiple times until he found a tune that worked. And his senna runs well and it is modified…. Also that would be a cool collaboration 😁
