Wow, from a great seaside resort town with beautiful homes in manicured neighborhoods to a utter slum. Those houses are long gone in favor of section 8 housing they started building in the early 70's. The old hotels are long demolished in favor of high rise casino's. The only seaside hotel left is the old Claridge Hotel now owned by Raddison. With gambling legal in PA Atlantic City has lost a ton of business from the Philadelphia crowd.
I used to go with my grandfather to the Atlantic City race track, it was in decay in the 70s, but it was still a great time
Oh don’t mind me, just rekindling fine memory’s of the early seasons of Boardwalk Empire
PeriscopeFilm Loved those old Hotels it was then such a beautiful place THANK YOU for this film. As a Young man I went there many times..

how old are you ?
I was born in the Atlantic City Medical Center. Moved away when I went to college. I miss it so much.
At 4:43 the big building on the left can still be seen in Atlantic City today. The Claridge Hotel
The neighborhood at 2:54 I believe is now known as Margate City
Not the 30's. The racetrack opened in 1946.
Yep... this same footage is seen colorized in a UA-cam video titled "1940s Atlantic City".
1950's for real. There was an Israeli flag as well at the convention hall! So it was after 1948
Thanks for presenting yet another compelling video!
Atlantic City Race Track opened in 1946 so this is post war, not the 30s.
Casinos ruined AC. It’s more like a dumping ground now. It could be easily rehabilitated and gentrified
Not a silent film after all! YAY!
Nearby gulf stream assures moderate fall, winter and spring temperatures??? My wife's cousin moved to Florida because they hated winters in N.J.
The Ice Capades at Convention, now Whelan Boardwalk, Hall. Home to the largest pipe organ in the world.

The future of this country. Gone.
The shown Miss America contestants now would be centenarians.
I went there many times in the early 2000's. Today, it's awful.
Doesn't look like this anymore, lol. Gulf Stream is Not close to the beach ? Everything knocked down and just casinos now.
MegaBait total shit hole now
@@RodeoRides Casinos? Not any more! Creeping blight saw to that.
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
Before Myrtle Beach!
@Jim Bennett. If you're accurate with the years, can't fool everybody.
AC was glamourous back when now its just a dump. when I went to vegas it makes AC look like camden
It wasn't so different in the 1950 s
The United States could be a paradise on earth..........
Wheres all the black folk in these videos? Is this spot still nice and clean and safe?
Take a look today. you'll be saying where all the white folk. Place is a disgrace now. It's being called Atlantic Shitty now.
Call me racist if you must, but when Newark, Camden, and Atlantic City were white they were booming thriving cities. Now? Well...
Mob central
just a slum in the 1980s
