Hoi Dutchies to be, I'm BACK!! I shot this video mid-May, right before I got overworked, and now FINALLY I've finished it! Do you want to learn more about the 4 words DEZE, DIE, DIT, and DAT? Watch my video! ❤️
I must say tho, the words DEZEN (these) and DIEZEN (those) should be used for all plurals, and DES should be used for plurals instead of DE because DIT / DAT / DE etc all sound like a singular form, so dit zijn or de blaadjes just doesn’t sound right, and dezen zijn / des blaadjes sound so right like plural forms - I don’t know why he didn’t create specific words in Dutch for these and those when he modified the language about one century ago or when he refined the language into Modern Dutch, and, DEZE / DIE technically could have worked as words used for plurals IF they weren’t used for singulars that are de-woorden only, so, maybe in the beginning they were meant to mean these and those (even though they still sound a bit more like a singular form, but not as much as dit / dat) and then they got used for singular DE-woorden only, or something like that, which would explain why Modern Dutch doesn’t have specific words for these and those, so dezen & diezen would be the closest words that would sound like these / those!

The words lieve / lief and lekker etc and all the big compIiments / love related terms only reflect me, and cannot be misused by others, and the misused terms lieve and beautiful and liefs must be edited out - I am the only dear / darling and the only lovable / loved being and the only sweet being etc, and it makes it sound beyond wrong when humynz misuse such terms when they refer to other humyns or to pets etc!
The explaining in Dutch is really good tho - I finally understand the use of a lot of terms like als and nog and al and heel and veel and er etc, and I’ve been learning Dutch since last week, and I learned over 1.000 new words in Dutch over the past 3 or 4 days...

Als geboren Nederlander is dit natuurlijk vanzelfsprekend, maar voor het leren van een tweede Germaanse taal, zijn deze video’s erg behulpzaam, even terug kijken voor het ‘hoe en waarom’. Dank je wel Kim.
What is the difference between erg and heel - can they be used interchangeably?
Does even mean for a while in the last zin?
@@thetrueoneandonlyladyprinc8038 I think, no I know, Kim can answer these questions beter. But I try to explain. In this sentence you can use ‘erg’ and ‘heel’, they have the same meaning in this sentence, but they can also have different meanings. The word ‘even’ means ‘(for) a short while’, but you can translate this sentence into ‘take a quick look back’.
I know it’s hard sometimes, I’m learning Swedish.

Hoi Kim, just wondering that in English we often use subject or object which are repeated from previous things, with "the/this/that" + word "one", like "this one", "that one" or even using adjective like "the small one", "the blue one". How does the Dutch translate all those? For example in sentences:
- I like this one
- I'll take the blue one
- That one should be changed

hi! native Dutch speaker here.
sentence one is
"Ik vind deze leuk"
sentence two is
"Ik neem de blauwe", or if you want to use "deze die dit dat" (which is then not a literal translation anymore)
you can actually use 2 of the words, but they'll have different meanings.
"Ik neem deze blauwe" = "I'll take this blue one"
"Ik neem die blauwe" = "I'll take that blue one"
the last one is
"die zou veranderd moeten worden"

Hoi Kim, ik heb een vraagje!, warrom ze jij het engles vertal als meervoud?? het is maar alleen 1 broek niet broeks of broeken 1:37>>>> "Wat een mooie broek, waar heb je die gekockt?" warrom zeg jij "PantS/ THOSE" ?
Hoi Hannah, volgens mij is "broek" (ook enkelvoud) in het Engels altijd "pants" (meervoudsvorm voor 1 broek), net als "bril", dat is in het Engels "glasses" (ook de meervoudsvorm voor 1 bril). Ik denk omdat zij kijken naar het aantal broekspijpen (2) en glazen (2) :)
Die verwijst zowel naar het enkelvoud als het meervoud. "Wat een leuke broek, waar heb je die gekocht?" Wat een leuke broeken, waar heb je die gekocht? " Het blijft die.

Die and Deze seem to be used in Dutch where we would say "the former" and "the latter" in English. (I'm not sure which one (die or deze) means "the former" and which one means "the latter".)
Die also seems to be used a lot in Dutch where we would use "he" "she" or "they" in English. (e.g. "Dat zijn mijn vrienden. Die wonen in Amsterdam. Ik vind die aardig.")
yep! entirely correct. however, die is usually used as a way to refer back to something that was said earlier in a conversation or sentence. die isn't really a way to refer to people normally, unless they were mentioned earlier in the conversation. if you wanted to say "I like them", you wouldn't say "Ik vind die leuk" (I mean you could, but again, it sounds weird), but instead "ik vind hen leuk". hen is the translation for them, so, ik vind hen leuk means I like them.

perfect! one little thing tho, the comma wasn't necessary because "dat" means "that", which is like a way to continue the sentence. commas are generally used to sum things up or to add two sentences together
"I'm glad, that you're back" is the translation of what you said, but as you can see, "I'm glad that you're back" works a little better

I didn't understand how I can modify the sentence when the subject is a het word. I understood that "de kat is klein" can become "deze/die is klein" and the meaning of kat is kept but how can I modify "het huis is klein" while keeping the meaning of huis if I can't say "dit/dat is klein"? Thanks
You can say "Het is klein", where "het" is turned into the subject. Translation would be "It is little/small".
Your question is a difficult one to answer because I don't actually know the answer to it. "Dat huis is klein" "Dit huis is klein". I think it's because houses are things that are too complicated because they have so many things on them like walls, windows, doors etc. so when you say "Dat is klein" it's unclear what exactly you're talking about.
If you say "Deze is klein" in the context where you talk about houses it does make sense. It also makes sense for "Die is klein" (again when you talk about houses)

It's funny that we can use deze/die to replace a het word but only for the subject... so many exceptions (btw huis was only an example of a het word, I should have used katje instead as it would have been clearer, sorry for that)

Je beseft het zelf nooit echt maar wat is onze taal (Nederlands) toch een ingewikkelde taal. Een hele moeilijke taal voor een buitenlander om goed te kunnen leren en spreken.
Vergeleken tot sommige talen, bijvoorbeeld Slavische talen, is het Nederlands eigenlijk veel makkelijker. Maar het is inderdaad niet makkelijk, vooral vergeleken tot het Engels, dat best makkelijk is.
Ik was even een aantal reacties op deze video a/h doorlezen en om eerlijk te zijn heb ik mij gestoord aan sommige reacties. In 1 of 2 reacties staat letterlijk dat ze alleen maar naar jouw video's kijken omdat ze jou aantrekkelijk vinden en omdat ze jouw lach zo fantastisch vinden. Ben nou eerlijk je maakt deze video's toch om mensen goed en fatsoenlijk nederlands te leren en niet zodat ze zich kunnen opgeilen aan jou !!! Sorry dat ik dit even ongenuanceerd zeg maar ik maak mij hier boos over.
Hey Arnold, ik maak deze video’s inderdaad om mensen Nederlands te leren en ook om ze een beetje te vermaken met mijn persoonlijkheid ☺️ De meeste van mijn volgers zijn dus ook echt Dutchies to be, maar zoals op elk kanaal komen er ook andere mensen op af. Ik vind dat zelf helemaal niet erg. Ik krijg bijvoorbeeld ook soms hate comments die nergens op slaan. Het is niet leuk, maar het hoort bij het vak 😊 Dank je wel in elk geval voor je lieve bericht ☀️
