ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions. ABOUT US Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Good Morning. Maharaj.
Yes Swami, also fame is the extenuation of greed.
Courtesy of Emily Dickinson, whose extent of poetry was found only after she left the body:
Fame is a fickle food (1702)
Fame is a fickle food
Upon a shifting plate
Whose table once a
Guest but not
The second time is set
Whose crumbs the crows inspect
And with ironic caw
Flap past it to the
Farmer’s corn
Men eat of it and die
AND…
Fame is a bee. (1788)
Fame is a bee.
It has a song-
It has a sting-
Ah, too, it has a wing.
Karma is subject to emptiness. Emptiness is all-pervading. There's no such thing as an individual karmic account unless the ego is real and actual and it's not. I have my mother's nose. I have my father's temper. What I don't have is my own karma.
Are you insinuating something? Swami handles his voice well, especially in a western culture bent on greed and selfishness.
@@Innertemplesounds yes, he does seem to stay cool in what could be seen as a lot of heat.
@@TheDeepening718 that is just philosophical rubbish if you aren’t able to enact it within all of life’s circumstances. Go stick your hand in a fire and say it isn’t burning. Karma is real, there is also a reality beyond it.
Pranam to Sri Thakurji, Maa Sarada, Swamiji and all🌺🙏🌹

this was very helpful, Swami. i appreciated the core principles of the Imitation of Christ as it showed me how i'm bypassing by telling myself i'm doing the will of God but meanwhile ignoring others in the matter of opinion. this seems a great practice to reduce egoism.
Pranam, Swamiji.

Namaskar Swami Sarvapriyanandaji Maharaj 🙏🏻
Want peace my child? Do these 4 things in life (These are in the order of difficulty):
1. Always seek to have less rather than more
2. Always seek to be last rather than first
3. In all matters of opinion, do the will of another rather than your own(not matters of value or ethics)
4. In all matters, try to see and accept the will of God

How to get a question answered? In his complete work I believe an address to Madras on his return to India Vivekananda said stop with the secretive mystical stuff. I am confused what he is saying especially being a member of the Free mason secret society. Swami will you please bless me with your wisdom on this
What free mason?
@@sumitdutta7043 swami Vivekananda was a free mason it's common knowledge? Please research if you don't know what it is a secret society

The level of delusion is insane...
He should atleast listen to Imam or church's father before comparing them with Hindu monks. (especially in India)
He is generalising few exceptions here and there in Abrahmic religions in the name of political correctness.
Fallacy of illicit generalisation !
Are you new comer?
Ramkrishna Mission is doing this since its advent much before the time the phase "Political Correctness" was started using in India.
No, I am not a newcomer !
In fact, It's been close to 5 years...
There is perfect clarity regarding these matters in the 'traditional Shankara sampradayas'.
But these neo- Vedantic traditions suffers from 'tamas' regarding these matters.
It's basically the manifestations of Pramada in Advaita.
If you want more politically unpleasing quotes from prasthan trai --just remind me
We have enough refrences to kill your self esteem for you beloved tradition

Neo-vedanti 😂
Traditional Shankara math with great amount of casteism involved is non-tamasik😅 what a great joke.
Those guys still do Mleksha non-mleksha.
That Puri Shankarâcharya even said such a Satwik thing that "If you marry people from different caste its equivalent to marrying a dog/bitch" and they are Sātwik 😏
@@shivranjansingh9774 These Swamis want to look cool and tolerant, while they harm Hinduism
Sanyasi should earn their own livelihood, then we can say they are doing anything good
Then he not a sanyasi 😅
@@sumitdutta7043 Freeloader 😁
@@JohnSmith-sl6eg
If he were doing some job then you would have said why is he a sanyasi and still doing it.😅
Remember he was an MBA gradude from one of the prestigious Management Institute of India before joining the order, if were to continue in that line than he would be currently earning way more that I and you combined.
But he joined the order of monks to lead a greater life, which you can't even imagine. Monks eat less sleep less, meditate study more. Its not like he is living some luxurious life and spreading nonsense like you.
Well who am I trying to teach a kidjoker
@@sumitdutta7043 Sanyasis are lazy bums, especially those who preach but not practice, their monasteries run on the blood, sweat and money of hardworking people, without whom these sanyasis would die in hunger
@JohnSmith -You are confusing earning with having a regular job . The Sannyasis are qualified and what they get is what they have indeed earned . Their currency or product of “trade “ with the world is sharing spiritual Knowledge gained through a life of often hard austerities, giving up personal attachments & sensual pleasures and undertaking long meditations🙏
