Nice car, I don't like the throttle whacker driving it (I thought he was going to do a burnout) or the numerous forward and backing moves. Looks like plenty of road to have backed up on to straighten the car once.
Several reasons. 1. Think about the distances in the US. Just from one state to another can be a 1000 miles journey, so you needed something big and spacious and fully loaded in the hot climates , to travel in. And then you needed a heavy duty engine to power them. Family Road trips were popular in America. 2. Cars weren't built for the roads. Most American roads are pretty new so could be built for cars. Here in europe we had to build smaller cars to cater for our existing 1000 year old smaller roads. 3. Cars like cadillacs were status symbols. So big was good.
Never seen a car look so proud, man. American designers knew what they were doing in the 60's and 70's!
Simple flowing line will still having complex shape, now car are simple eggs with everything into the headlight or plastic/chrome trim
