Buried treasure
oh damn bob didn't expect to see you comment here hello good sir
Straight up. I just discovered it.
" you can't turn radiohead into jazz."
Brad : "hold my turtleneck."
i realize I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know a good website to watch new series online ?
At 18:00 you see him moving the piano into his new residence. He had that same upright when living in L.A. because I was his piano tuner. And he's still smoking.
The man that opened my eyes to the next musical level.
Much admiration!!!
Me too!
"It's like, 'Fuck You, I Love You. Now let me play you some beautiful music.'" - Brad Mehldau
Brad always drop next level works. one of the best pianist of our generation.
i have watched this many times and keep coming back to it. amazing
His genius lies in his freely rendered ultra-creative explorations of a distinctive theme into infinite twists and turns that the "average" jazz player would never come up with. That readily qualifies him as the contemporary "Bach" of jazz piano.
Incredible doco! Bob Reynolds fans are coming...
The recording of London blues on this is sooooo good I can’t stop rewind in brads solo.
This was an amazing doc of one of my heroes. Thank you for posting.
thanks man!! really wanted to see the full version!
very talented pianist, glad Mehldau indicates he's cleaned up substance abuse issues, tough work for a genius,
magic
Like a beautiful dream...
Amazing touch.
STUPENDO.
the song that begins at 17:01 is resignation, not the bard. they're off the same album
Love him 💖
A true genius
Incredeble
Puissant !
Ufff i would have loved to read subtitles un spanish or english
15:12 "Moreover, Bloom [in James Joyce's Ulysses] reminded me of myself - not as a masturbator per se but as an improviser. Perhaps the two activities had something profanely in common. I identified with Bloom's ability to reach a climax while musing in a non sequitur fashion, because, more often than I cared to admit, some of my strongest improvising was taking place in tandem with similar kinds of rambling thoughts. "Shit, I wonder if I left the coffee maker on when I left the apartment this morning . . . Will that diner still be open after the gig . . . bacon cheeseburger deluxe sounds good . . . with pizza sauce . . . black and white milkshake . . . how much does a one-way to Boston cost on the Amtrak from Penn Station? . . ." The musical ideas flowed outwards nevertheless, and they could be strong ones. Ecstasy and beauty weren't precious. They knocked around in a jumble of prosaic chatter."
-Brad Mehldau, Formation p.342-3
literally the only alien on earth, this is gold! He played the sh$t out of River Man wow
Je veux cette alt version du all the things you are art of the trio 4
Mehldau fans: I'm curious. When was this recorded? When did Jeff Ballard become the drummer in his trio?
1999. Jeff Ballard replaced Jorge Rossy in 2005.
..and ballard took the trio to the next level, in my opinion !
At first I didn't like ballard's playing but after that it was the real deal.
4:50= well you needn't monk tease
God didn't give us Brad Mehldau, Brad Mehldau gave us god.
Excelent documentary but poor recording, plenty of background noise
I like how this background noise gives me a true feeling about different situations and places...
hard to get clean recordings in clubs...

What is the song at 33:30?
Hi. I think it's a part of the Solo on Dear Prudence. Or a solo on "resignation", hard to say.
@@yoann2794 It's "Goodbye Storyteller (For Fred Myrow)", for sure.
Damn. No English subs. 3:15 is a brilliant shot with the song choice
You mean the 50 seconds introduction in German out of an awesome 54m40s of a great documentary otherwise spoken in either English or music!? Have you watched it?
Pollock
damn 15:08 could fit perfectly in waking life
