  • How to Add Members to a Nintendo Account Family Group
Family is a central element in our lives, and we often share moments of fun and entertainment together. With the popularity of Nintendo consoles like the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, the company offers an excellent solution to connect family members in a single group: Nintendo Account Family Groups.
A Nintendo Account Family Group allows up to 8 Nintendo account users to connect, sharing benefits and resources. By adding members to the family group, parents or guardians can manage Nintendo eShop restrictions for supervised accounts in the group, as well as allow children up to 12 years old to be part of a family group with one or more parent/guardian accounts. Additionally, family group members also share the benefits of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription if one of the group members has a Nintendo Switch Online Family subscription.
In this video, we will guide you through the simple steps to add members to a Nintendo Account Family Group, enabling you to make the most of your family gaming experience.
Step 1: Access the Nintendo Account website and log in to the family group administrator account or create a new administrator Nintendo Account if you don't have one yet.
To begin, access the Nintendo Account website (accounts.ninte...) using your preferred browser. Log in using the credentials of the Nintendo Account that is the administrator of the family group. If you don't have a Nintendo Account yet, create a new account by following the instructions provided on the website.
    Step 2: Select "Family Group."
After logging in, you will be directed to your Nintendo Account page. Navigate the menu and find the option "Family Group." Click on it to access the family group settings.
    Step 3: Select "Add Member."
Within the family group settings, you will find the option "Add Member." Click on it to initiate the process of adding a new member to the group.
It's important to note that the "Add Member" option is only available to the family group administrator. If you don't see this option, check with the other family group members to identify who the administrator is. The administrator will need to perform the addition or transfer the administrative rights for you to proceed with the process.
Additionally, you may encounter the message "You cannot add more members to your family group" when there are already 8 participants in the family group, which is the maximum allowed limit. If you wish to add someone else to the family group, you will need to remove one of the existing participants.
Now, let's address the specific steps to add members based on the age of the individuals you want to include.
If the person you are adding is 13 years old or older, follow these steps:
    1. Select "Invite someone to your family group."
If the person you want to add doesn't have a Nintendo Account yet, they will need to access the Nintendo Account website to create one. After creating the account, you can invite them to your family group.
    2. Provide the email address registered to the Nintendo Account you wish to add and select "Send." An invitation email will be sent to the provided address.
    3. The invited Nintendo Account owner will need to follow a few steps to join the family group:
    a. How to join the family group
The invited person should open the email with the invitation and select the verification link contained within it. Then, they should log in to their own Nintendo Account. Upon doing so, the option to "Join the family group" will appear, allowing the Nintendo Account to be included in the family group.
    4. After the Nintendo Account owner agrees to join the family group, the account will be added, and you can assign a role to it.
Now, let's address the process of adding children under 13 years old to the family group.
    1. Select "Create a child account."
When adding children under 13, the family group administrator who is over 18 must perform the process. Follow the steps below:
    - Transfer the administrative rights to a family group member who is over 18.
    - After the transfer, the new administrator can follow the steps below to add the child's Nintendo Account and then return the administrative rights to you.
    2. Provide the child's date of birth and select "OK."
During this process, you will be prompted to provide the child's date of birth. Enter the correct date and proceed by selecting "OK."
    3. Provide the administrator's Nintendo Account password and select "OK."
To complete the addition of the child's account, you will need to provide the administrator's Nintendo Account password. Enter the correct password and select "OK."
By following these steps, you will be able to add members to the Nintendo Account Family Group easily and quickly. Remember that the maximum number of participants is 8, so if you reach this limit, you will need to remove an existing member before adding a new one.
