Simply the Best,
The intro will be played at my wedding. Has to happen.
Man I remember playing this in high school( Enterprise high school) we always made 1’s in competition battles we could definitely blow!!!!
OMG!!!!! brings tears to my eyes. Yes FAMU! I'm a 3rd Generation #Bandhead I come from a family serious about HBCU Bands and Black High School Bands for sport and recreation. And our kids are 4th Generation! Fantastic Arrangement!!!! And they are playing superb! This is real musicians who can read and PRACTICE Daily folks! Me and my Fam go hard for Bands that can play. And sound like the actual record. EWF would be proud of this! It's fast because you have to march to it and the dancers have to dance to it. I'm amazed how you can hear the Piccolos so crisp and clear! soundin' like a damn symphony! Go head! and I'm not goin' go in on or take away from my brother's college band, but this is showing how you don't have to be loud to sound good!
I'm going to this school after community college... marching 100 here I come
Classic song by Earth, Wind, and Fire.
That's a great example of the FAMU sound at :47. The idea is so different from the actual song in those 2 measures. Wow I love it. I wonder what Sergeant was thinking there...? A dissertation needs to be written about that man.
that's clean
Beautiful!!!!

This is one of the best versions of this song ever, and that is coming from a Purple Knight. If you don't know google us.
Trumpet-01 Rocket - FYI: the St. Augustine Band is one of the most storied programs in the US. The moniker is in tribute to FAMU. There are pictures of Mr. Edwin Hampton (St. Aug BD) and Dr. Foster together in the school's bandroom. The Purple Knights were the first all-black unit to lead the Rex parade in the hostile Mardi Gras' of the 1960's; thus integrating Carnival. The band has preformed for several Super Bowls, Sugar Bowls, Macy's Parades, NFL games and in 1987 held a concert for Pope John Paul II. The post Hurricane Katrina era has hindered progress but the alumni list still reads like a who's who of black America. No negatives, just thought you'd like to know.
Mad respect for FAMU and their program but, as stated St. Augustine doesn't need to ride coat tail on ANY BAND college or high school. We have battled some college bands in the past with ease.....so to say "stay in our place" is exactly where we belong. CONSTANTLY on top.
St. AUG has a very good band and music program. But, as stated before, is in no comparison to the Marching 100 and frankly is not eligible in anyway to be considered even as a friendly mention in the same sentence as the M100. Great program but would you compare a NBA or NFL great to a high school or recreational league athlete.... no.
I've always liked St. AUG
I still have a audio clip of them playing skin I'm in in ma phone. Also JFK middle. Those bands in the N.O./LA stand alone as high school band programs. You all did accomplish many first, but for high schools. You share some accolades with college programs
..but realize ..it's high school. High...
School..
Lord Fourth there are obviously people who don’t truly know the history of the band I speak about, nor the impact they have worldwide. If you don’t really know it would be better to not even speak on it at all. The footage speaks for us. 💯4 life
I marched to this song and Chase's "Get it on" back freshman year high school. Haven't marched since then- stupid budget cuts =/
