Paladins battling in mechs alongside fortune-bending witches catch your eye? There's lots more coming with the DLC - check it out here: rebrand.ly/PartyElitePlanetfall
Thanks for the tips! Just got the Planetfall bundle on a Steam sale a few days ago, and having a great time learning so far. Knights and mecha are like pbb&j to me, so these guys are an immediate early favorite, but I can tell it'll take a couple of low-difficulty practice games to actually get decent with them.
This video is a surprisingly informative and helpful introduction to Oathbound! OMG there's so much status synergy going on, I think I'm gonna be stumbling through my first playthrough. This faction appears to require a high skill level of micro managing all their abilities and being able to see effective synergies. More so than usual I mean. It looks very interesting! ...And slightly difficult to get into.
Ive done 2 (failed) runs with them so far and they are DEFINITELY a high skill ceiling faction but they do reward you equitably for systems knowledge and tacital/strategic knowledge. 1st run I learned you have to be very careful with your economy. These units take a lot of production to build and I fucked myself over on that one with less than optimal colony planning and location selection. Second thing was not using their paths in battle properly and picking a secret tech that synergizes well. Promethean might give me the battle sister vibes I wanted but didn't provide any benefits outside of a single once per battle healing equip for my mainline faction units, and the secret tech factionals weren't quite good enough to justify the expenditure of resources on them. I'd suggest synthesis, heritor or psynumbera as their go to secrettechs so far.
@@MisterZimbabwe I tried Heritor on my first run but I was losing too many units in the beginning. Didn't get very far with that one. I might try again with Celestian because of all the access to healing, and that later damage reflection mod. I'm not a big fan of melee armies. I definitely find it difficult to play.
@@LanceFehr Yeah, they were definitely designed around making absolute full use of all the banners and special abilities and using the buddy system to get those adjacency synergies. If you CAN pull it all off on the tactical battle level they can absolutely punch way above their weight class though. Had a triple stack of the bug boys try to surround one of my invading armies that were a stack and a half. Absolutely demolished them with minimal casualties despite almost a 1000 army power gap and not being at their full strength.
@@MisterZimbabwe I can see that. Nice win btw! Kir'ko AI seem to make a lot of melee units, plus very few transcendants and hidden/ranged support. My success with Kir'ko kinda hinged on taking advantage of the ability synergies between those 3 units in particular plus the right mods. The AI does that very poorly. I think Oathbound must have the same dependence on ability synergy, but I haven't discovered a comfortable balance yet. The buddy synergy and Precognition seem to get ruined by area damage... Haven't played them in a while now though. Been focusing on a Dvar/Assembly galactic empire. :)
This faction almost feels like if the guardians from destiny beat back the xeno's and darkness and rebuilt humanity from the ground up and began conquering the universe. I'm very much about that.
Will you be putting out a review later on PE? I already have the season pass and will be playing it tonight, but I'm curious what you think of the expansion and the Empire mode.
ah so building heaps of protectors and marching off the war with everything that moves is the opposite of what im meant to do, explains why im getting my arse kicked
They're a weird faction in that way. Your military actually benefits from playing the peaceful diplomat game. I found they are a good turtling army kinda like the Dvar. Trying to invade an oathbound territory while they have their army stacks within their borders is an uphill battle
I seem to be having an issue playing the oathbound campaign on my Xbox one I can't even get revelations or invasions campaigns. And I can't seem to use the same factions in empire either.
12:43 this 20% of each level over neutral, does they only work with quests? or seperat? because i like to join the voidbringer invasion masters and this will be sad to lose an abilty, same with syndicat.
Is it still true that Providence's critical hit guarantee doesn't extend to hit chance? (ie if you hit it will be a critical hit, but you can still miss)
That's what the developers confirmed during one of the streams. The perfect combo would be a Fatalism de-buff on an enemy unit and a Providence buff on your attacking unit.
This is what the tool tip says but in all of my playing and testing, I didn't once see a miss. In fact, a 5% hit chance once got a crit using Providence. A fluke, maybe?
@@PartyElite :) I dont really care much if a race is strong. I play single player mostly (or team up with my son against AI). If the AI can wield this race and get strong it is just another challenge as I already play on max difficulty with strong defenders on resources.
@@jonolavabeland8042 To be fair, all of Planetfall's races and secret techs have these abilities that make you go: Excuse me? Like the Amazon's ability to almost permanently root the opposing army with the proper setup or the Vanguard's ability to get long-range tier 1 troops with stun and aoe stagger on their primary attacks.
@@ryltair Yeah, but precognition that lets you take 0 damage for first attack on all your units... Sounds pretty amazing. I guess weak AOE to do that first damage can help. I am looking forward to it :)

So basically Grey Knight Jedi with mech suits. This game is a sci-fi fan's wet dream.
Vanguard: we are the restorers of the Union
Oathbound: hold my mech

So stoked for this. Planetfall has been such a sweet suprise to stumble upon.
Witches + Network Link (Synthesis) resetting those once per battle cooldowns :D

Glad to hear it! There's a lot of fun to be had with these Lords and Ladies, that's for sure. Enjoy!

This is one of those games you need a college course for, but once you get it, you got it! 😁
Very excited for this expansion. Any chance you can cover the new Empire game mode or a let's play showing this mode?
Enter the Cult of Corvidae
(The Precogs of the Thousand Sons)
Enter the wolves of Fenris (the guys the killed the precogs of the thousand sons)

I really hope Paradox does a season pass 2 for Planetfall. I doubt they will but I can hope anyways lol.
Sorry to ask here but can not find any information any place else! Would you know when the star kings dlc goes live for an Xbox one user? 🙏🏻

@@PartyElite Hopefully, otherwise I feel it would be a bit too strong.
What's pissing me off is my PS4 won't save any more data on each of Wonders planetfall for me so I can't even access the new campaign mode
Yeah, I had the same problem. The workaround is to manually delete some saves.
@@alpturan7897 thats the problem i dont have any saves left will they be fixibg this problem soon
the lord skills are missing, what am I doing wrong?
Oathbound Xenoplague, super soldiers in mecha.
So they can either be glass cannons or immortal juggernauts with the right status effects and or doctrines
Well I'm not for one to be a glass cannon
This new race seems extremely strong...Too strong?
My hubris saw me punished a few times, for sure

Glad I got the season pass from GamerGate back in the day, for $27!
