I guess I'm the opposite of you, Catman. I have been using a vest or a snapsack since the 80s. I carry way too much, but you never know. I have seen days they answer only one call and those days vary from box to triple reed to wing bone to even a darn push button!
Down in my old home state and area of north MS - I've been in CO for 2 1/2 decades now, but that looked a lot like the Natchez Trace Parkway you were driving down. Good job on getting a bird.

Awesome.Nice start of the 2023 season. Ohio hasn't opened yet, but can't wait. At 72 hope my health will permit me to go. Like you guys, it's a love for the outdoors. Long as I can pick up and set down and artho doesn't get in the way, I will be somewhere. Take care, be safe and enjoy.

Great turkey hunting video! Video now days are too "Hollywood" for my tatse. I hunted turkeys for 60+ yrs.and always wore a vest. I keep gloves, facemask. 5 different calls, binoculars, couple shells, compass and most importantly a 3' tape for measuring beard, spurs. Good job.
One more piece of advice. Wash and dry vest to make it soft and quiet

Are the birds safe to eat? Avain flu some racoons died from eating some wild birds.

Is there any way you could touch on how you choose your set ups without using decoys?
I’ve talked about it in other videos, but basically I find a good spot where the turkey can’t see my position, and I can’t see them until they’re in shotgun range. Use terrain or thick cover to make them get close for a look.
