More technical upgrades include: 4G wifi with external aerial to boost reception. Satnav (Sygic truck running on Samsung tab a) All tyres replaced (and yes I will need to renew the fronts soon too) Numerous electrical repairs (running lights, internal wiring etc) Door seals Coolant system leaks. In truth, there isn't a great deal to upgrade other than to make Puddles more comfortable for us. This will include reworking the kitchen area. This will be done over the winter period. Just goes to show that she was quite well put together in the first place but Gary and Tina.
The new owner sounds enthusiastic about taking Puddles forward do they have any plans to invite you back for a look around the finished product? Good luck to them on their proposed future travels. Thanks for sharing and keep em coming
Did puddles have a crawl through from the cab? Also did yous add the shower area section when yous moved the box back on the bed? I know Matilda got a rear section built cheers
@@matthewpayneadventurerfilm8902 thanks for the reply, I have started rewatching all the old videos of the build and catching up with the new ones and as I was looking at how would suit our needs for when not if we get ours lol can you tell me was it built with the same construction as yours? With that I mean metal with welds? Cheers
@@itsmepaul2011 puddles extension was built with welded steel and clad in ply which was a mistake. Partly due to poor quality ply board. A couple of years later the new owner ask me to replace it and I clad it in aluminium and repainted. Matilda was welded steel and aluminium clad.
Great video mate, I wish them the best of luck for the future, great to see he's a fellow Disco 2 devote 👍👍
Excellent interview , this gentleman is as serious as you are about overlanding.
I was expecting a bit more about truck upgrades for an epic trip than the colour of the soft furnishings 😂😂
onemanandhisdog9 🤣🤣.

Why did they sold it? It was so cool to see the 2 trucks together battling the remote places!
They downsized. Just-escape youtube channel is still going. There new build is on that. 👍

I am sure we will meet up again. England is a small place.
And the overland show attracts overlanders just for a meet up and chat.
Canada? I'm in N Idaho if you need any repairs done when you're over here.
Thanks. Always good to know

new owners should get in contact with follow me overland and join his trip to Africa
If the potential owner had a choice of Puddles or Matilda, I wonder which truck he would pick?
Mowtown NI Matilda’s sale price would be much higher. She cost a lot more to build and took longer to build her.
Was Puddles under or over 7,5 tonne?
No. Puddles is over 9 ton
Could you not retro fit a telma auxiliary brake instead of an exhaust brake?? they have several stages and are much more effective
I had to look that up. Nice system. But I am sure would cost considerably more than an exhaust brake.
@@matthewpayneadventurerfilm8902 they fit them on coaches so a second hand one should be easy to source at the right money
awkward lol
Car dealer bull###t
I don't understand?
