I used to take my old '08 2 door Jeep out there quite often when I lived in LA. Thanks for sharing the trail! Brings back some great memories! I always went up the front side and down the back side. I got my front end over that ledge going down, but backed out of it. Didn't seem worth the risk. When I attempted it, it was super skinny, and had to hit it at an angle. Ended up on 2 wheels teetering. I always rode solo, no lockers, in a stock 2 door X with little 31" AT tires. If I flipped I would have been screwed.

I love hearing that! We love that trail too, and have gone multiple times, it’s a great way to get outside of LA and feel like you’re in a completely different area, yet it’s only an hour away. I hear ya about not taking big risks when wheeling solo…it’s not worth breaking something or rolling your rig. The videos never do the trails justice, those hills are steep!!!!

@@4x4campingcorps I watched y'alls Cleghorn Ridge video. I went up there with some people from work. That place got pretty hairy near the end. I had a stock Wrangler X on 31" AT's and the og 16" rims. My manager from work rolled one of our dealerships Tacoma TRD Off Road's onto it's side. lol

Cleghorn has some serious sections! Just a few months ago there was a serious rollover that they called in a helicopter to airlift the driver to a trauma center!
The trail systems of Southern California are incredible though with how close to the city they are and with such a wide variety of skill levels. There really is something for everyone. As long as they know their limits and stay safe!

I've done that obstacle before in my JK (no lockers) and couldn't get up...You guys made that look easy. What a difference lockers make.

I experienced the same thing, without lockers I really struggled. Once I had them, it was very easy. Lockers are an expensive upgrade, but well worth it if you want to tackle more difficult obstacles.

Posted a video of a stock gx460 doing this obstacle with A/T tires, it does have electronic traction control though (ATRAC).

Going down the trails do u go on 4low or 4 high?

    • @4x4campingcorps

Hi Rick thanks for the comment. On steep and difficult trails (bumps, ditches ,rocks, loose dirt etc.) I use 4low, it’s much easier to control the jeep that way…

I use 4L a leave it in 1st or 2nd gear, you never have to use the brakes or gas pedal

You didn't keep going down the trail at the end?

We ended up running out of time and had to cut the recording short (as you saw we were about 1/2 way down the front side of the hill when we had to cut it off)...we went all the way down to the main staging area then out the front exit, just didn’t get any footage of us leaving...

It’s always a great time getting out with friends and being so close to LA, we can get a full day of fun in... as long as we don’t have any issues. Like carsick kids.

You don’t need lockers for that.

Wonderful video! Are there parts of this trail that are ATV friendly, particularly for kids?

Thank you for your comment, glad you liked it! Yes there are lots of options on this trail for ATV’s with many different offshoots; from easy fire roads, to extremely steep and difficult trails. It all depends on which offshoots you choose.
