Great review guys! I finally got out on my Rustler 10's this past week. They are absolutely awesome! Mine are the 186 variant, and at 6'1" 205, they feel just right. For a ski that is 104mm at the waist they are very agile and quick. As you would expect, they are great in soft snow, but also felt good on ice, and handled variable snow with ease.
The only time I put on my Rustler 10's is when there is at least 5" of fresh powder on the ground and that is where they really shine. They are not great on frozen snow or hard packed snow, but they are a dream in fresh powder.
I was hoping for this updated review. I'm narrowing my next skis down to either the Rustler 10, Ranger 102 or Maverick 100. Older and heavy, non-aggressive advanced skier, looking for a little bit of everything that won't beat me up too much (have given up on the idea of an Enforcer). This would likely be my widest ski for occasional powder. The Maverick seems to be a good mid-point choice, but I'm always coming back to your comment about the Ranger making you feel like a better skier. Where would you slot the Rustler with these other two? Thanks, again for all your content and replies to comments. Fyi, I just got back from a week on the Montero AXs you sold me, and you didn't lie - absolutely loved them! I have been fairly blown away by the new Rustler 10. It is shockingly good for how light it is. The mix of stability and looseness/playfulness is sublime. I also seem to want to send it off every jump I see, which says something for a 40 year old I think.
Great to hear that people have had this experience with the old Rustler 10, and it’s not just me. When skiing fast through chopped up snow, I had the outside ski get “stuck” in the snow and come right off my boot. This happened to me three times with that ski; never with any other ski. BTW, I’m 5’6”, 145 lb, skiing on the 172 cm length. So not physically overpowering.
The old ones are awesome. Nice and playful. If I want a higher top speed on firm snow I’ll break out my Doberman Spitfire 72 or Brahma 82. I’m sure these are awesome though. Great review.

Good question and happy holidays to you! If you're looking for more or equal playfulness to the Rustler 10 in the 102-104ish mm range, I'd say the Volkl Revolt 104, Salomon QST 106, K2 Mindbender 106C, Fischer Ranger 102, and Black Crows Atris are 5 great comparisons.
Great video very helpful and really tempted by these skis, can't decide on length though - 174cm or 180cm, around 177cm height and ~ 81kg ski mainly europe with a mix of on piste and off piste / moguls. Any recommendations?

Currently looking at those, hoping to get a chance to try them this season. But if i can't get in my length, this would be an option. The new Rustler is now a bit closer in weight to the Hustle, and they use the same core, so the main differences are the shaping and the metal. If you're looking for a damper ski that can operate smoothly at higher speeds, the rustler is fantastic. For more pop, pep, and energy, the Hustle still is a vastly entertaining ski. We're seeing these lines blur due to the merging weights.
Hoping for a Length recommendation for the rustler 10 for myself: 5'9 160lbs living in revekstoke BC. The ski would be mainly used between storms for harder pack groomers, moguls, jibbing around etc.... Been skiing a borrowed Rossi sender 110 free in a 184 and it feels perfect size wise. Wondering if you guys think I should go 180 or 186 for the rustler 10?
I was looking to get a second ski for my quiver and the Rustler 10s and Enforcer 100s/104s caught my eyes. I am an (intermediate-?)advanced skier that spends my day mostly off piste in chutes, moguls and trees. I currently daily a 2022 Blaze 94 in 172cm and use an older 170cm E84 for groomer days. My currently complaint with the Blazes are that if I decide to go on the groomers they are quite chattery at speed. I do like how the Blazes are quite playful and maneuverable. I would like another ski for the Canadian rockies that would perform better on hardpack days (relative to the Blaze 94) but still remains playful. I am looking at something roughly around the 100 range so that I can possibly use it on powder days as well. Would the Rustler 10s in 180 be a good fit?
It's a great ski but not a total solution to the chatter problem. While they do have metal and make for a smoother ride than the Blaze, it's not total silence. Depends if you're okay with a bit of a dip in this department. Something like Armada Declivity 102 or the Rossignol Sender 104 Ti will quiet things down a bit from the Rustler, especially if you already have a playful and maneuverable ski.
Thanks for the updated details! :) What is your take on the 174? Every once in a while on the previous R9 the 180 can feel slightly long for me - though I like the 177 Cochise 108 (OG) and the 173 Brahma 82 (2020). I like tight woods and lines, and at 5'5" and 150 lb would I be losing anything going 174? When it's deeper I've got the previous R11 in 180 and when I'm going mach looney on groomers I have the B82. Time to make a decision for me soon!
Vs atris? Spent a bunch of days last season on the most recent Mantra 102 (184), and while I was blown away with so many aspects of the ski, I’m gonna switch to something a little less punishing this season. Rustler 10 and Atris are the two skis currently in the lead
Also meant to add in the QST Echo to the Atris and R10. I feel like if I threw a shift on the echo, I’d get maybe 60-70% of what I need in a ski in this category, with the added versatility of some uphill. But I’ve not tested any of these skis - just basing my picks on your reviews + experience.
How much do you think you're going uphill? The Rustler isn't too heavy--just a hundred grams or so more than the Echo, so if you're looking for that smooth carving performance that has a pivoty character without a ton of weight, I do think that's a great choice. Certainly a more powerful ski than the Echo and the Atris.
How is the Rustler 10 compared to the Mindbender 99ti on the longer lengths? I’m 1,95m, 100kg and very athletics. Both skis are on the top of my very short list to my next ski trip to Idaho in march. Maverick 100ti and Kore 93 come in 3rd and 4th. I’m with Bob these days and focusing on light weight skis.
The K2 is sturdier in all lengths and better carvers, too. the Rustler is floatier and more freeride-oriented so it entices your creative side rather than more fall-line oriented Mindbender. That said, the K2 is heavier, so if you're leaning my way to lighter skis, perhaps the Rustler is worth a stronger look and worth the trade? The Maverick and Kore are great, but also both more directional like the K2. Kind of depends if you're looking for more rocker and taper or if you prefer a more traditional feel and a tip to tail carve.

Even though I’m an excellent carver on groomers, I still have some problems releasing the tail of my skis off piste. Have two final questions: Is Justis heavier, more demanding and fatiguing (during the Annual Review, both you and Jeff left me with that impression)? How would you compare the old R10 188 vs new R10 186 vs the QST106 189 for a one quiver ski? Mainly soft snow and sidecountry, some groomers, some backcountry touring. Weight is not important for me.
I like the flotation of the QST 106 over the Rustlers. The new 10 feels more supple and easier to use than the old one, but the Salomon is more sophisticated and versatile than the Blizzards, in my mind.
Looking to add to the quiver for the days we have had lately with the wet, heavy snow but could as double as a powder/crud buster. does a ski like that exsist? Would this ski cover that option?
This ski covers a lot of options, and that's a big part of the charm and appeal. Mix of metal, rocker, and progressive shaping makes this possible in the Rustler. Some other skis use different blends of materials and profile to create the same type of character. I'd add the Salomon QST 106 and the Armada Declivity 108 to the discussion as well.
There's a lot more activity and response in the Declivity. That makes it an excellent groomer ski. I think it's worth the slight hit in bump performance--Rustler makes it easier to maneuver in bumps, but I don't think it's necessarily a better performing mogul ski. I'd lean to the Armada.
Hi, I am a big fan of your content. Thinking of replacing my Bent 100s by the Rustler 10 as my powder and softer snow ski. I am skiing in Europe and I am 173 cm at 67 kg. I recently demoed the rustler 9s and had a blast on them. I enjoyedy the 180 cm more than the 174 cm. How would the 10s compare to that length wise?
thanks! I think this is a good move, and if you had a good experience on the Rustler 9, the 10 will just be more of the same. There's not a huge difference between them in terms of performance, you're just getting more float, mass, and the resulting stability here.

On the Bent 100 I felt more comfortable on the 172 cm than on 180 cm, especially in the trees. The 100 is traditionally the western 50/50 option, and the 172 is probably the way to go. You may find the 94 is better for what you do most of the time, especially if you have a preference for strongly carved turns.
The QST is a better floater due to added rocker and dramatic taper. The Rustler, even for its large tip splay, is still more of a traditional ski at this width. Personally, I've had a better connection with the Salomon, mainly because that ski works exceptionally well in powder, trees, and softer groomers.
I was decide to buy the Hustler 10 with the Salomon Shift for a 50/50 touring and on piste. Now I’m hesitating … the new Rustler is even ligther than the Hustler and seems to be better. Which onr do you recommend for this 50/50 use ? I’m 65 year old expert skier
The Rustler is certainly an interesting option due to the lighter weight and higher performance ceiling. I'd lean that route unless you want the snappy energy of the Hustle.
I'm stuck between the Fischer Ranger 102 and the Blizzard Rustler 10, but leaning toward Rustler ...I'm an upper advanced skier in Whistler area that spends 60/40 off/one piste ...6'1"/195lbs ...help?
Personally I think the Rustler beats the heck out of the Ranger. I know some skiers may feel differently, but the Rustler is a stronger ski from tip to tail while retaining a lot of soft snow playfulness and creativity. In my experience, the Rustler is better at every component of skiing. I'd say you could go 186 if you're okay with slightly longer skis.
You should have a flat light ski comparison video;) Nice graphics.. I would say that my 2021 Kastle FX HP would hinge and I would also say that the front would chatter.. Pivoting.. If I go skiing tomorrow the temps are going to get into the 40s and there are going to be a bunch of people.. If the hill is wide open with not many people and there is good solid hardpack that makes for perfect conditions for carving.. The terms I was using for 40s and a bunch of people was slarving or surfing but I think pivoting might be the term for me.. When you are talking about the pivoting and woods and stuff how does this ski compare to the Enforcer 104 Free? I think you answered my question.. The Enforcer 104 Free is a heavier ski.. When I ski BRECK there are plenty of areas that are tight but I really like the areas that are wide open.. It sounds like with the longer ski you get the stability.. I know Jeff's Enforcer Free were in the 180s but he also moves his bindings forward.. My Enforcer 104 Free is 177 and I am good with that.. This time of the year there is nothing wide open.. None of the top of the mountain is open yet..
Our demo fleet is a good place to examine these issues as they get pretty hammered by a wide variety of skiers. We see normal peeling and chipping on the Rustlers but nothing abnormal in terms of total delamination from a structural perspective. Most of the damage we've noticed has been superficial.
The Justis is a more comprehensive carver by a good margin, which is impressive given the amount of tail rocker in the Black Crows. If you're more interested in higher-octane carving and higher edge angles, the Justis is hard to beat. Rustler is more playful and flexible, but Justis is an amazing carver.

Wasn’t happy with the construction changes, absolutely love the old ones but with the added metal it did something weird especially with the tip (felt better carving but got floppy going fast in hardpack) almost like there was to much weight on the tip. I think there very comparable to the k2 mindbender now, the y beam construction also looks comparable.
You're not wrong--the shovel is definitely different. It's always interesting to see who or what type of skier likes certain changes and who prefers the OG style.

I think it's better to go slightly lower than head high, so the 174 might be a better option, especially if you're mixing on, off, and moguls.

If you liked the 184 in the 110, then I'd go 186 in the Rustler. There's less surface area here, so they will likely feel about the same.

I think if you felt the older 180 felt long, the 174 will be just right, especially if you like tighter zones.

It's not as strong or powerful as the Nordica, but it is more flexible, lighter, and more playful. The Rustler feels more like the Peacemaker.

@@hectorxxx100 On paper you sound more like a 174 skier to me. I think it's okay to go a bit shorter in these skis as they are pretty sturdy.

I'm stuck between the Fischer Ranger 102 and the Blizzard Rustler 10, but leaning toward Rustler ...I'm an upper advanced skier in Whistler area that spends 60/40 off/one piste ...6'1"/195lbs ...help?
Personally I think the Rustler beats the heck out of the Ranger. I know some skiers may feel differently, but the Rustler is a stronger ski from tip to tail while retaining a lot of soft snow playfulness and creativity. In my experience, the Rustler is better at every component of skiing. I'd say you could go 186 if you're okay with slightly longer skis.

I'm never going to tell someone not to buy more skis, but there is some overlap here, both in shape and style.

I would say that my 2021 Kastle FX HP would hinge and I would also say that the front would chatter..
Pivoting.. If I go skiing tomorrow the temps are going to get into the 40s and there are going to be a bunch of people.. If the hill is wide open with not many people and there is good solid hardpack that makes for perfect conditions for carving.. The terms I was using for 40s and a bunch of people was slarving or surfing but I think pivoting might be the term for me..
When you are talking about the pivoting and woods and stuff how does this ski compare to the Enforcer 104 Free? I think you answered my question.. The Enforcer 104 Free is a heavier ski..
When I ski BRECK there are plenty of areas that are tight but I really like the areas that are wide open.. It sounds like with the longer ski you get the stability.. I know Jeff's Enforcer Free were in the 180s but he also moves his bindings forward.. My Enforcer 104 Free is 177 and I am good with that.. This time of the year there is nothing wide open.. None of the top of the mountain is open yet..

How are they holding up with delaminating?
Our demo fleet is a good place to examine these issues as they get pretty hammered by a wide variety of skiers. We see normal peeling and chipping on the Rustlers but nothing abnormal in terms of total delamination from a structural perspective. Most of the damage we've noticed has been superficial.
How does this compare with a Justis?
The Justis is a more comprehensive carver by a good margin, which is impressive given the amount of tail rocker in the Black Crows. If you're more interested in higher-octane carving and higher edge angles, the Justis is hard to beat. Rustler is more playful and flexible, but Justis is an amazing carver.
Any recos for bindings on these?
We pair them with Tyrolia Attack 14's and they work great!

Wasn’t happy with the construction changes, absolutely love the old ones but with the added metal it did something weird especially with the tip (felt better carving but got floppy going fast in hardpack) almost like there was to much weight on the tip. I think there very comparable to the k2 mindbender now, the y beam construction also looks comparable.
You're not wrong--the shovel is definitely different. It's always interesting to see who or what type of skier likes certain changes and who prefers the OG style.

I think your concern is valid. If you're looking for an easier ski around 102 mm underfoot, check out the Fischer Ranger 102 or the Atomic Bent 100.
