I agree with you. I had the pleasure of seeing Adam and the Ants perform live at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, Australia, in the early 1980s at the peak of their popularity. I think it was about 1981. Unfortunately, most of the music press had written him off. I could not understand why. He was always reinventing and exploring new visual and musical territory with each new release, whether it was with Adam and the Ants or when he embarked on his solo career. We had a show in Australia back in the 1970s and 1980s called the Don Lane show and I remember when he came on the show on his first visit with the Ants to Australia and he was being interviewed by Don Lane and how articulate and intelligent he was when answering Don Lane's questions. If I remember correctly, he did not perform live on the show. It was just a sit down interview with Don Lane. Anyhow, I agree he was a great performer and a very underrated one at that.
I noticed Marco isn't in this. He did his share of miming songs on these kinds of shows with Adam and he seems like someone wouldn't have liked it. He probably simply chose to sit this one out since he could get away with it with so many other people on stage.
I asked a friend is his name really Adam Ant and my friend said well with a name like Adam Anthrapodinsky he had to change his name and he did it by just shortening it, whatever floats your boat.
Adam was a great performer
And still is
Just saw him last night. He STILL is. At 69.

@@obbadda Just saw him in Detroit. Big fan since childhood. I was not prepared for what I saw.
Just saw him in concert Sunday. Incredible show. Double drums are amazing live.
Love this!
Saw him in LA, 2024. He was incredible, such a good show. And those drums…

A great great singer, frontman
The Best
Marco took the day off then.
Wow, Adam and the umm, ants, on Solid Gold. I'd bet the audience had not seen something like this before! Wahi' Valleys
Actually, and strangely, Solid Gold had all kinds of bands that you couldn't see anywhere else in the US. The lip syncing though...
I know, two of my favorites, KISS and Devo were both on SG! Wahi' Valleys
He was The Bomb!!!! So handsome and a true original!
Yes - he was so different at the time. And his music was so rich.
This is Adam Ant's solo career. No "Ants" with him.
Oh - you're right!
wooowwwwwww. I like his bare midriff!
super cool guy
@@madamemccauley7988 he was way AHEAD of his time
If you don’t stop you will go Blind!
I don't know, he seemed spot on with the synching. JMO.
Playing this before the Long Beach Pirate Festival
Unique personality
A+ on the performance. Killer mate.
Madonna borrowed from Ant’s look and moves here. Check out Lucky Star
Good catch! Madonna borrowed heavily throughout her career.
Stephen Pearcy, singer for 80's hair / glam rock group RATT said Adam Ant was THE major influence on his style and stage personna

Adam is really sexy😊and really 😍 cool 😎👌!
🤔 Marco non c'è? 😢
Where is Marco? He isn't on guitar!
Badly? He gave a cool performance that night!
Oh it was very cool but MTV was letting artists sing live whereas Solid Gold was still doing lip sync. It was the 80s.
Exactly. As far as lip synching goes, by no means is this done badly.
Adam tenía talento para ser Axl Rose pero lamentablemente no tenía sus canciones
Loverboy on the horns😂
Exactly!
