Thank you, I hope a solar 42F finds its way to you. Also subbed to your channel, nice session man, checking it out now, I actually just picked up a full set Moog sound studio and will be doing some setups paired with the Solar soon.
Yea, the Solar 42 is super fun to mess with, very expressive and there is more and more out there. I like your channel, I'm also planning on more jams with incorporating ambience/voice lines from some of my favorite classic movies. Also checking out your Akurox radio channel, hey, why not have that music streaming live on youtube? I think it would be easier to access.
Yea, I remember the last months I had to wait was hard, waiting for that shipping email to pop up. nice thing is they use some sort of express shipping, once i got the notice it arrived fast from the other side of the world. don't worry, once you unbox you will forget all about how long you had to wait.
@@helpmeiaminhell yea, Elta Music always ships direct orders first, if it's a pre-order from Perfect Circuit you should be able to cancel it and then order direct.
Very nice! I didn't try to play with external audio yet. Yeah the Stereo FX loading process is ... special. In its current state the manual is not the clearest... Also it's funny what you do with the pulser at the beginning and the end, because I happened to do a similar thing on a jam I recorded yesterday (I'll post it tomorrow). So cool!
@@JessFromSquareOne I just checked it out, its awesome man, the pulser is a lot of fun, great session you did there, I actually picked up on a few patch points you did, I will have to mess with that. but yea, u making that track is now pushing me to do my next session, this is what I like, keep 'em coming!
Hey, yea, for sure, they are called Tiptop Stackcable patch cables, you should be able to get them from most music gear shops or order them online. They are really nice cables!
This sounds great , how did you get more than 5 notes from sequencer is it 10 steps, can it be synced to clock via gate in? I would have to sell one piece of gear to make room.😊
thanks, the Solar 42 has actually 5 sequencers, you have the visible 5/4/3 step but you also have access to a 16 step sequencer and arp through the little menu system in the middle of the touch keyboard. Then you also have the option of splitting the touch keyboard into 2 separate keyboards and then you can use a custom sequencer or arp for each side. I'm going to mess with that in some future videos.
Thanks, the Solar actually has a external source in, you can see it bottom left where it says preamp, so I had a usb c to 3.5mm patch cable and just plugged my phone into it. I just hit play/rewind on the voice sample/beep every time u hear it. it also gets hit by the delay fx.
its $8 on amazon, ended up getting a bunch of them, good quality and adjustable, just put this in amazon search "Laptop Stand for Desk, Adjustable Laptop Riser ABS+Silicone Foldable Portable Laptop Holder, Ventilated Cooling Notebook Stand for 10-15.6” Laptops,Tablet-Black" or here is a shortened link shorturl.at/xrVnL
i am your fan I wanted to buy SOLAR 42F after listening to your music. But I'm a beginner so I don't know if I can do it like you. Do you have any plans to make a tutorial for this video? If so, I would really appreciate it.
Hey, thank you for being a fan, I have plans to do some tutorial videos on how this was setup. I have been very busy unfortunately but will have my weekends and evenings back soon and will work on new tracks and tutorials. Its actually not a very complicated synth at all once you start messing with it.
I noticed you have the pulser gate feeding into the gate of voices 3 and 6 but they are turned down in the mixer, wouldn't this mean you are unable to hear voices 3 and 6? (Apologies if dumb question, i own a Solar 42f and am still learning!) Excellent performance!
Hey, thank you, congrats on the Solar and there are no dumb questions in my mind. I'm also still learning this beast. In this session I did actually use voice 6 at 2:50, you can hear the white noise part, then I take it back out at 4:08. Regarding voice 3 it was a late night and I just didn't get to it. I was also trying to get a 4 chord progression going but only managed to tune voices 2, 4 and 5, lol in my last video i didn't even have the infinity fx loaded on the right channel, I just figured out how to do that now. As I'm getting a better understanding myself I'm planning on doing some in-depth tutorials/examples and pass on some knowledge in future videos.
Thanks, very impressed with the quality, I think they are hand built and it shows. nothing is loose, surprising with this many knobs and buttons. I would recommend it for sure, also had great experience with Elta Music, they answer all your questions and super helpful. The Solar is very creative synth, I'm just scratching the surface and if I didn't constantly have to work in the salt mines I would be playing with it every day.
I guess u are no beginner like I am. But I love the sound of the synth and really thinking about getting one. Previous I owned a Monologue xd and use diva regularly , do you think the Solar 42 is a Synth to grow with or is it so much its own thing that you need experience to use it correctly ? Very sick Jam!
Hey, thanks, the Solar 42 is actually my first synthesizer, I just started my journey with music last year September as a hobby, got Bitwig Studio and some vst's to start but now getting into hardware, there is something about the physical interface that I'm really enjoying. You can definitely grow with the Solar 42, it's very much an experimental music machine and you don't have to be a professional musician to use it.
@@wusulu-yc7sl for this session I only tunned 3 out of the 4 drone voices to the keyboard voice which was playing the 16 step pattern I put into the sequencer. I just tuned it by ear, and really this something I'm learning right now, its probably not perfect, I just listened and tuned until it sounded good. I will do a tutorial on how I tuned for this track at some point, just busy time at my day job right now and have zero time. 😢
Thanks, actually everything you are hearing is from the solar, the beep/delayed voice of a woman speaking is also being processed by the solar through the patch pre-amp source in which is playing a 3 second clip from my cell phone. The rest of it is just 3 chords from the drone voices and one 16 step sequence using the VCO A/B
actually those are really cool, called a Photo Sensitive Detector, when activated allows you to change the frequency pitch by the level of the surrounding light. I will mess with that soon!
