How to crochet a Beautiful Peacock Feather Applique...!!!

- Beautiful Peacock Feather Applique...made with mercidised cotton thread and 1.75mm crochet hook
Peacock feather (written instructions):
Sequence of colors
A) Dark blue
B) Light blue
C) Light brown
D) Light green
E) Dark purple
F) Dark green
Terminology used
sc = Single Crochet stitch
hdc = Half Double Crochet
dc = Double Crochet
tc = Triple Crochet
slst = Slip stitch
F/o = Finish off
ch = Chain Stitch
st = Stitch
Procedure or Instructions
Row 1= start with color A, make 14dc(Ch3+13dc) in a Magic circle, do not close the circle. With 14th dc attach color B and make 6dc in the same magic circle. slst in the starting ch3,pull the thread to tighten the loop. F/o color A and continue with B.(total stitch count is 20)
Row 2= ch1, sc in the same st, 2sc,1sc repeat this sequence till the last stitch,end the row with 2sc in last stitch,slst in the first st and F/o.
( Total st count is 30)
Row 3 = start with color C , ch1 and 1sc in the same st(st1)
st 2 - 2sc
st 3 - 1hdc
st 4 - 2hdc
st 5 - 1dc
st 6 - 2dc
st 7 - 1tc
st 8,9,10 -2tc each
st 11 - 1tc
st 12 - 2dc
st 13 - 1dc
st 14 - 2hdc
st 15 - 1hdc
2sc, 1sc, 1sc repeat this sequence till end that means from st 16 to st30
slst in first stitch and F/o.
Row 4 = Attach color D, 1sc in each of the stitches till end, slst in first stitch, do not F/o, attach color E and ch1
Row 5 = working with color E, 1sc each in 15st , 3sc in 16th stitch and 1sc each in rest all the stitches, slst in first stitch and F/o color E
Row 6 = continuing with color D, 1sc each in 16st , 3sc in 17th st, 1sc each in rest all stitches till end and F/o
Row 7 = attach color F, make a long sc covering sc of Row 6, ch3 and slst in 3rd st from the hook,to make a picot. Skip next stitch below and make a long sc in the next stitch as done with the first st
Continue this sequence till u reach the top of the feather, after making picot, long sc in the same stitch to make the feather looking pointed on the top, now again follow the same sequence for rest of the stitches ( long sc,picot,skip st, long sc in next st)
slst in the first st and F/o.
Hide all the tails at the back.

For making it a bit bigger,u can use yarn instead of thread....but i don't know if that would give the same look as thread work....but if you are asking for different stitch count...that may result in alteration to the feathers' looks......n i didn't try that...
What size merqurized thread yarn are you using? Size 3? Or?? Thanks

Love love it. I like this one better than the rest of the peacock pattern. Is there any way that you can make a granny square with the peacock? I tried many times, can't make it to a square.

I hvnt tried to make a granny square with the peacock feather,as I have made this particular feather with thread,will try with yarn and will try to make a square over that...that's really a great idea, for making Afghans and cushion covers also...😍😍👍👍

The thread with ticket number 20 is thin but ticket number 16 is good enough...that's why I prefer to visit the shop...and buy from the local brand...n if still u don't get that...u can use anchor mini skeins..worth 5 rs per skein...u can get color options and they are thick enough to make the project

Help! The video doesn't seem to match the written directions. The written directions say there should be 30 sts in row 2, but in the video, I count you making only 28? After you complete row 1 and join with a slip stitch and chain 1, it looks like you are making a single crochet into the next stitch and not the same stitch you made the slip stitch/chain 1 in. I am so confused!

The video is totally matching with written instructions...
See, Ch3+13 DC in dark blue thread (total 14dc), +6dc in light blue thread (total 20 DC in first row). Slst on the top of starting ch3.
Row 2 continues with light blue thread, ch1, 1sc in the same top of ch3 of last row, 2sc in next stitch, repeat this sequence till end. U will end up with 2sc in last stitch.... So total number of stitches come out to 30....why 28...either u are slip stitching in starting ch3 and making sc in next...that may be a reason for shortage of stitches while working...
Please check and correct...n if u still have any doubts, feel free to ask me as many times ☺️☺️

Okay, I just finished mine. For a first effort, I'm not ashamed, but I made some mistakes. First, my light green is too light, and almost looks white next to the dark green. Additionally, my gold is quite dark, so my colors together are truly a poor combination. They're all I had, though, and I didn't want to buy more until I knew I could make this applique correctly. Second mistake: My stitches were too tight except for the last row, so the entire applique is very curled up. It looks like a cup. This thing could hold water. Ha ha. I only had 1.5mm and 2.00mm hooks, and I opted for the 1.5mm. I probably should have used the 2.00mm. Anyway, I'll get the correct colors and hook size, and I'll do this again. I really love this applique, and I'd like to get it right. You're a great teacher, I must say. You've made this easy, but I just need to practice more. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
