The best part about 2v2 is figuring out the best combos with your duo. Figure out their playstyle and how it works with yours to really work together and pull off sick combos!
We made a backyard tournament on a friend's house btw. We random 7 characters, then - team B bans, - team A selects, - team B selects - team A bans - team B selects - team A selects (one char is left) Player 1,2 and 3 get one action only first turn, else you can hurt player 4 a lot before he can even play.
As much as he is maligned in 1v1, King Arthur is a beast in 2v2 specifically with Merlin's AoE and ability to move everything on the battlefield. This leads me to suspect that character balancing in this game was done specifically with this play mode in mind.
Best way to play Unmatched by far (I only play 2v2). The game is so much more explosive, exhaustion is less of a factor, and playing with a buddy is so fun. A friend of mine suggested we tried playing two handed (each player controlling two characters) sometime, I think it will be fun Cheers from Brazil!
Love the lack of exhaustion in 2v2! The mechanic is fine but games ending due to punches is a lot more climactic! I’ve heard good things about ‘two handed’ 2v2, need to try it sometime!
I have about 60 2v2 games with a very competitive group, not the best player for sure, but not new as well. A few comments - Medusa e Strange are broken indeed. T Rex and Genie are indeed very good. Houdini is brutal as well - 3 move is not as important, it is easier to corral people - sidekicks are indeed great. - Sinbad is low tier. Takes too long for his travels to accumulate. Too many bodies on the map can make his extra movement less useful - Sherlock is bottom tier. As you said you can just beat him down, but also if you focus on his buddy he just stands there and watches hoping to draw his combos. Also his skill means all the other team's cancels are going to his buddy. - Oda is not as good as he seems, too easy to burst down. - Elektra is top notch, you play her normally, instead of running. Her sidekicks can help a lot if the other team ignores you. Her swap defense is makes her very hard to burst. Also her resurrect turn is still a menace.
Me and my friend have been playing a lot of 2v2 in the last few days and I've (not particularly well tested) been cooking with Tomoe, InGen. Rending Shot and Leap Away become much better when they're dealing 1-2 damage too. And Tomoe likes moving opponents onto traps for InGen's draw and another damage. Also InGen's map control makes up for Tomoe's weaker control.
Not sure if it’s the “best” pairing but my buddy and I were at Origins this year and found great success with Bigfoot + Tomoe. Between those 2 decks there are 6 Skirmish cards, which if set up correctly, turns into 6 free damage (utilizing Tomoe ability). Plus both fighters draw a lot and are SUPER heavy hitters with 6 and 7 value attacks. And both fighters are incredibly tanky with great value defenses and Tomoe with her healing. I’m not saying this team will take down every matchup but at times we felt dirty being able to get so much ping damage in one game. Free damage is free damage baby.
I think every hero in the tales to amaze box is top tier in 2v2. With Tesla being #1 and Golden Bat 2 from that set. MoonKnight is also very good prob my favorite hero to play. Don’t sleep on King Arthur and Cloak&Dagger they are much stronger in 2v2 then 1v1. Pair C&D with another aggressive hero like Bruce,Trex,Houdini and you better Coming up with fun synergies with two random heroes is always fun to think about. One of my favorites is Dracula/Beowulf. Drac gets to ping Beowulf for a card and then Beowulf gets some much needed rage since he gets ignored in 2v2 most games. Not the best comp in the world but still fun to pull out from time to time. Thanks for the 2v2 content!
The more I read heroes decks after i saw this video, the more I agree on the fact that many, if not all of them, were designed with 2v2 mode in mind. I think this mode is widely underrated
I'm keen for you to analyse some other formats! I play LOTS of unmatched but pretty much never play 1v1, with 3 or 5 players i play free for all and 4 i play 2v2 at different game nights. Also i know the buffy set is hated on a lot cause they suck in 1v1 but in 2v2 they're actually all pretty good - especially willow who can resurrect her teammate up to 4 times.
2v2 tournaments when? Actually intense 2v2 is really satisfying. Very important is to keep track of hands and whos turn is next. I have played many times games where i setup an opposing fighter on my turn for my teammate to take advantage on his turn. Movement manipulation and card draw are kings in 2v2. Suddenly king arthur is really good in this mode.
Other fighters that work well imo in 2v2 are Arthur mainly because of merlin bullseye is incredibly useful for the strategy of trying to kill one of the heroes as fast as possible and a sleeper good character imo is IM because he is one of the few that can clutch a 2v 1 game pretty consistently
I know Willow isn't the strongest fighter in neither in 2v2 nor in 1v1 but the Resurrect card can be quite handy on some situations in 2v2 but again if you don't enjoy playing as her then I don't see the point on choosing her over any other fighter just because of one card, she's still very weak...
During tournaments, what’s the method for selecting characters? My group keeps trying different drafting setups but none of them seem to be balanced for both sides.
How confident can we be that this is a balanced system? Looks balanced but there might be some edge cases, especially when you have only 10 characters like me.
Hey anyone in Columbus wanna play 2v2?? I’ve never played it that way but me and my sibling love Unmatched! Anyone know where in town we could play it that way? 614!!
Thanks for the shoutout!!! 2v2 is the best!

Only duo I need is me + you bb 😘

@@EGE4owo idek anymore! Id love if there were more tournaments to see what the meta is!

KA has a lot of success in our group of 2v2 players! KA gets off a lot of 7+ attacks and Merlin’s range and board control work perfectly with him.

when i play against my brother, we often take 2 characters each, it’s so fun!

We are playing mostly 2v2 with my friends. It really damn good mode. Better than 1v1 for sure in my book.

Thanks for the inspiration! More videos to come covering this format for sure!
All I got out of this is Buffy strategy guides are on the way.

Lettt''sss goooo Baked Goods! Thanks for organizing!
Anytime 🫶
HELL YEAH!!! In my opinion, the game is more balanced in 2v2, since there are so many more variables.
Yaaaas finally, dunno how I missed this video, it´s high time 2v2 becomes more popular

KA is slept on for sure in this mode! And yes being able to set your teammates up is huge for getting some big swingy turns in!
Is this… could it be… 2vTwosday??!! 😎
It’s going to have to be weekly now Mr Goods!
Oh shit you’re onto something here!!!

I’ve seen some crazy plays from sidekicks in 2v2’s. Multiple games with Merlin clutching out the fight after Arthur’s died
Nice! Love the videos

Still staying hydrated!
Great work homie 🌊
