This inspired me to pick up the novel I had put down for ages! I started it from scratch with your guidelines from this video, and I think ti really helped me that it didn't need to be perfect. I realized my mistake was that I was constantly editing as I went and so never got anywhere. I knocked out 2000 words in under three hours! I know it'll ebb and flow especially as i get deeper into it, but this was so great to follow along to and write along with someone!
Watching you challenge yourself to write 2k words in a day was so inspiring that I decided to try the same after not having written for a few days. Even though 2k words is also a little above my daily word count, I reached it! Thanks for making such motivating videos, Vee!
I just tried this yesterday after watching your video and I ended up writing 3.5k for three separate WIPs, two are completed and just need editing 😂 Thank you so much for the content, keep up the great work! ❤
Great to hear I liked her book Happy Place, hoping to read her other works. I think it's so motivating getting advice and tips of how Emily writes and what she does as a writing schedule
No matter what I just can’t write a whole draft :( I write one sentence and I hate it so much I stop writing 😅all I have for 1 1/2 years of ‘writing’ is an amalgamation of sentences and quotes and ideas but no solid draft, it’s also so hard to find the motivation to write when I work a 9-5 job and was at uni previously. However, Watching your videos has really helped to inspire me so I’ll keep pushing myself :) I look forward to reading your book one day!
I need to keep that mindset of just writing whatever to get the words on the page and not worry about the quality for a first draft! Helps so much.. you can always edit it and make it perfect later, but you need something to fix first! Great vlog :) Love Emily Henry!
When I was a younger writer I did use my fiction to pour out my emotions into characters. I think it can work for some writers but it usually hamstrung me 😅 Once I switched to journaling for the emotional deluge it made it easier to kind of pick and choose what felt right for my characters. It made writing fiction feel less physically and mentally taxing. I think because of the extra emotional vulnerability of being aware that you want an audience for the fiction but not for the journaling.
i really enjoyed it!💓 i filmed a vlog reading it a while back which i haven’t decided to post but maybe at some point i’ll share more of my thoughts in depth!
I am too the point in my book that I am just reading out loud the draft to see if there are any mistakes. I want to work on my second book but I feel like I need to plan it out and everytime I try, I get overwhelmed. Anyhow, great video! Happy you made it to your goal.
