The Vindication class was something that always stood out to me since I first saw it in Halo 4, because it looks the UNSC's attempt at making a Mass Effect ship. What I mean by that is that it has the blocky and angular hull design typical of UNSC vessels, but the prow of it looks like they took the main weapons of several Alliance cruisers from ME1 and stuck them on. It even has a similar hull color.

that's not necessarily true. in a real life example, the us B83 nuclear bomb has a yield of 1.2 megatons while the older B41 nuclear bomb has a yield of 25 megatons.
the B83 is of course safer and probably more efficient in terms of nuclear materials used and smaller physically. the Mark X MAC simularily could be more energy efficient, more cost efficient, lower maintenance and lighter, but not strictly more powerful.
plus the fact the super mac got their power from ground based generator plants. entire fusions facilities made to power them, while ship born macs are constrained by the reactor on board which is also space limited.

I wish to point out the decanonized Orion class Battleship. It used to be on Halopedia, but sometime around 5 years ago it got pulled down, and I can’t find references to it anywhere else.
Basically, 2 were built, one was in dry dock on Reach during the glassing and her armor shrugged off a direct hit by a glassing beam. They carried 2 Super MACs, and other ordnance I cannot recall.
The other ship was in orbit, and took out most of a Covenant Battlegroup before going down.

5:07 I believe that the ship that the UNSC Commonwealth was shooting at in the Fall of Reach movie/book was a CRS-class light cruiser. Which is multiple times smaller than a CCS-class cruiser. They are actually smaller in every way than a Paris-class heavy frigate, it’s smaller in length, width, and mass. So it kinda makes sense that a UNSC ship would be able to destroy a covenant ship almost 2 times smaller than itself!

3:29 the M58 might not even be a diffeent missile, it might be the pod itself, if its going on a battleship might just mean its an upscaled pod that holds more missles, either that or it might just be an upscaled version thats either longer and or wider requireing a diffrent pod, most missile pods could have the capacity to use newer and older missles if the same dimensions given its basicly just a VLS but not forced to be verticle, im honestly assuming its not a bigger missle but just a larger pod to maintain logistics ease, unless the larger pods are like how the M270/HIMARS works where you can swap out smaller or larger pallatized missles/rockets given a modular launch cell, ie one version might have a larger amount of cells or the cells might be aranged diffeently given the shape and size of the hull its mounted on

Hey first time seeing one of your vids good watch. I watned to maybe help clarify some things in this video.
    1. The SoTP model and weapons do not follow lore as they wanted to make the ship feel more of BB. Therefor they made it slighty bigger with more guns and 2 more MACs.
    2. The difference between the 2 Archer models is size. If i recall the M58 is a much larger missile then the 42.
    3. Though by name it seems the vindication has a stronger MAC. The infinity is equiped with the strongest MAC. During the battle with the didact the Infinity was the only ship that could damage it. Ships like the vindi were useless.

  • @Augment_Failure
    @Augment_Failure Рік тому

Shame the Infinity casts such a big shadow for the rest of the fleet to get obscured in...
As someone who probably spent hours on the level "Midnight" in the Broadsword section, I can say with confidence that there are 4 "Vindication", 8 "Poseidon", and 9 "Strident" operating as part of Battle group Dakota before casualties are inflicted by the Particle cannons. There also appears to be additional Vindications flying in reverse in the background of Midnight with Broadswords as escort. Granted, said background ships could be a different class, but due to the common silhouettes, I wouldn't be surprised if 343 re-used the low poly model to give a more dynamic setting.
While not my favorite class of UNSC ship, it's classification alone gains a certain amount of fondness from me. Though I doubt it could k.o. a CAS class by itself, let alone it's shields.

Unlike most 343 era ships this thing is somewhat less ugly and better fitting in the correct representation, though the ones in Halo 4 are treasonous levels of unattractive. I really hope they can make these things out to be an actually cool design like the one in the Infinity cutscene rather than whatever terrifying geodesic scrapheap it tends to be portrayed as in model. There are some fanon battleships that tend to follow a more accurate 'big cruiser' airframe, which I would personally say fit the setting vastly better, but the atmospheric thrusters and generally not ridiculous curvy hull (cough cough Anlace cough) has a lot of potential to be unique. Maybe they can do good with the Vindication??? Hopefully?

I never understood why the UNSC focused more on carriers over battleships, especially during the human-covenant war. I can understand using carriers against insurgents, but in space, a battleship will dominate a carrier in a battle. Yeah, I know the creators of the franchise were focusing on real world near 1-to-1s, but in sci-fi, but come on! You can’t go wrong with a battleship in space!
Imagine if the UNSC had put some resources into making a mobile Orbital Defense Platform, or taking a carrier design and dedicating the usual areas for hangar spaces for reactors, with the goal being to supercharge the ship’s MAC cannons.
Would they have changed the course of the war? Unlikely, but they would have caused a lot of hurt. Again, imagine a “Super MAC” from an Orbital Defense Platform that could move!
Of course, Halo isn’t exactly a heavily naval focused sci-fi. However, if someone is looking for some ship-based shenanigans, the Lost Fleet series of books and Legend of the Galactic Heroes are great examples of fleet-based space combat, I highly recommend them.

Here proves again how the tech used by humanity makes no sense, the battleship should have been a norm and a lot more beefier than this. The Battleship would have represented along with the super carriers it would have been protecting the pinnacle of human technology sporting next generation MACs and DEW weapons (way before the reflex laser we see being used by frigates In Infinite) it would have been an equalizer to the dominance of the Covenant allowing the UNSC to have a few more victories to build on. That’s why it made no sense no to have a true battleship including in the inventory of the Navy from the onset. It’s funny how technologically stagnant and recessive the humanity of the 26th century is, compared to other fps’s of similar genre. Powered armor and human augmentation should be the norm in the 24th century, and yes super soldier augmentation will be “special “ but they would not be the hype displayed by Halo, again we are talking about the 26th Century and humanity is still geared like they are in the 21st Century, makes no sense. I like the Vindication but it should be at least 2.5 km long and be a beast of a frontline capital vessel

@OCO878 I can agree in part, but you don't plan or build for what now,but rather for projected threats also. Humanity has always had that mantra militarily speaking, carry a big stick (in part) why have the Punics with no Frontline slugger to complement it and as it is seen the Navy suffered horribly from it. Again it's one of those backward aspects of this 26th Century Humanity where common sense progressive technology development doesn't exist, lol and smh

There's actually a reason for that. The Forerunners wanted to punish humanity for the Human-Forerunner war, so they set them back evolutionarily.
