- Lisa Fischer performing "Wild Horses" at the BAM R&B Festival in Brooklyn, NY 8-7-14.
Joining Lisa on stage are Capathia Jenkins, Martha Redbone, Alfa Anderson, Debbe Cole and Clayton Bryant.
We had a great time onstage with Lisa! Love her spirit & her amazing Voice!! she is truly one of a kind....
It is ridiculous how good ALL of these singers are. The way Lisa takes the lead back after Clayton's solo (7:30) is sheer perfection.
All of Lisa's superior stage skills are on display here: she's directing, harmonizing, covering for the sound man, enjoying her guest singers, entertaining her audience, and SANG-ing!! She is totally aware and prepared for anything that happens on her stage, yet she makes everything seem effortless. This woman is a master performer. If you only concentrate on her voice, you miss so much of her talent.
p.s. I would pay anything to hear Tawatha and Lisa together again.

It's because moments like these, that i don't understand why some people are so worried about that she's the "most underrated singer in the business", or is not a galactic (empty) superstar (in the magazines). In my (humble) opinion, she don't need that, at all!... She's in another (superior!!) level. Lisa is one of the best singers of all time. Period!...The talent and skills are so unbelievable (and fortunately she share with us, the lucky ones!!), that just the idea of comparing her, with the today's "plastic" new singers (??), don't make any sense, and probably makes the people that truly love her, feel kind of... sick!!... (sorry my English, but is the best i can!!)
My goodness! I could not agree more, and couldn't of said it better myself. Every other post is about how underrated she is. First, what are you basing that on? It's someone come out and say 'that she's okay but I've seen better"? Are you based in on the number of time she hit the top 10 on the Billboard charts? Magazine covers? WTF? And I love the people that listen to her when she came out in the 90s were the first album but then today says "I always wondered what happened to her". Nothing happened to her, except she continued to have the great career in the music business, doing what she wanted to do, and how she wanted to do it. Yes I myself, anxiously awaited a sophomore effort and a follow-up to So Intense, but it never came. That is why I am so thankful for the one album that she did make. Feel like I'm part of a small group the truly knows how amazing she is.
They say she is underrated because she is underrated. There are great singers out today. So, I certainly disagree with the plastic singers remark. Many of them are talented and work hard at their craft. If some people don’t like their way that’s fine. But they do not deserve to be ridiculed or to have their hard work and talent undermined. They are functioning as high profile singers have typically functioned.
People’s expectation is that great singers have typically been in the spotlight just as many great singers are today and have been years ago. This is why they say she is underrated. She doesn’t get enough credit for what she has done in the industry and they want to see her get more props. After all, she earned them. However, Lisa has taught us that there is more than one way great singers can be successful and serve the industry than being in the spotlight. This should not be used to put down other singers, but to say that her way is just as valid as their common way.
They all love her to pieces for a reason-- this is a universal loving woman.
This is raw talent with fine percision. Her voice is still a fine instrument. Sometime you have to listen and just appreciate!!!
