I think this is just a testament to how versatile they are as musicians, as much as I love Paradise Lost. The One Second and Host albums have always stood strong musically speaking, well written songs with great hooks. Nice to hear this kind of stuff again.
First came "One Second", then "Host, and now we will get the much needed follow up in the form of IX, thank you, thank you, thank you. Just what some of us have been waiting so long for!
I totally agree with You Peter 🙂 this album it is like a missing time period since "Host" album (which is always in my top Paradise Lost albums 😁), can't wait for the whole "IX" album, i am sure it is gonna be fantastic, like everything what Greg and Nick are creating 👍💪
Greg and Nick have this crazy ability to write songs that attest to our feelings of depression and sadness without saying "kill yourself". It's the opposite. It's, hey, we know how you feel, and we understand.
This is a powerful song, and it does a beautiful job of blending older-style music with contemporary and rock music. I say this is one of the best songs of today. It speaks a true message from the heart. We all are hiding from tomorrow, but that is why it is so important to be grateful for today.
listen to paradise lost record host for the genesis of this song. paradise lost were panned by death/doom metal fans for the change in direction for the albums one second (my favorite of the change) and host are INCREDIBLE records and any TRUE PL fan appreciated them immensely
He said for this album at least it was more siouxsie, christian death and the cure guitar wise but yeah i hear that darkwavegoth clan of xymox style too😄
@@christofts857 I checked 'em out. I'm usually into the heavier stuff, but this & Nothing have a calm, nostalgic, groovy vibe. Cheers. You might like Soen, Opeth, Katatonia, The Sisters Of Mercy, Hail Spirit Noir, LOTL, Deathwhite...
@@Firealpiscean thanks man, I love almost all of them but will check out the ones I don’t know! And yeah, I find bands like this calm but also heavy in their own way. It’s all about the atmosphere.
This is not only music but also philosophy. Makes you think about life, how we live our life everyday, not willing to face tomorrow. So much emotions in this song.
I love the name of the project because all the fanatics of Paradise Lost know why.... The sound is amazing... melodys and atmosphere gothic from 80's.... Good, good, good But always PARADISE LOST. AARON AND STEVE.
I love the death, doom and growling in Paradise Lost's music as much as I love the goth and synth from their late '90s stuff. They could have released this as PL and I'd have been happy with it. From Lost Paradise to Obsidian, PL have never put a foot wrong
They did, with "Believe in Nothing". Even Nick and Greg keep agreeing that it was half-hearted effort, related to their personally troubled time. They kept looking back for their musical foot all the way up to 2007 after that.
Paradise Lost🤘
Holy shit, I love this song. Thank you so much to Greg and Nick for ALL of the music over the years-- for so often blending the past with the present while making it sound fresh. (I know Gomez played here, but almost feel as if Lee Morris could have recorded this drum track-- it sounds like him!) There has always been a dark heart to Greg and Nick's compositions that shines through in every record. Cheers, boys.
I love the Sisters Of Mercy-ness of this and goes back to PL's mid-career sound. For me it works best like this, PL full-on heavy and dark, Host the more 'modern' goth-rock sound.
listen to paradise lost record host for the genesis of this song. paradise lost were panned by death/doom metal fans for the change in direction for the albums one second (my favorite of the change) and host. They are INCREDIBLE records and any TRUE PL fan appreciates them immensely. Also if your a fan of the unbelievable film requiem for a dream the whole one second record should have been the soundtrack, it fits to that crazy film about true drug addiction perfectly.
So glad they did another Album in this style. PL has gotten a little too growly last few albums. Hopefully this inspires them to mix in these elements more/again as they did in the middle of their PL careers which is still the best material overall.
To each their own...i'm eagerly hopeful that PL will continue the death doom route for their next album..they do many genres well..but the gothic/death/doom is their strongest point IMO.
Poderia ter lançado como um disco do Paradise Lost, que estaria tudo bem! Porque isso é Paradise Lost puro! Toda a essência do One Second, Host, Believe in Nothing e até mesmo do Symbol of Life está aí! Coisa linda de se ouvir! Aguardando o Host "parte 2"!!! S2
As much as I love Paradise Losts heavier albums "Host" still remains one of my favourites. I cannot wait for this to drop, a good decision to run this as a seperate project considering some of the death metal fans throw their toys out the pram whenever a band tries something a bit different.
@@ΣεραφείμΑποστολάκος no, have a listen to Paradise Lost 's discography and you'll know what I'm talking about. You clearly haven't listened. Basically, they have a few pop albums mid era, and there are Paradise Lost "fans" who only like those and when Medusa in particular came out, I saw a lot of them getting upset. Some heavy Depeche Mode vibes going on here. Great 80's throwback sound. Liking this a lot.
Brought me to tears! So relatable... Thank you Nick and Greg, love you
Strong One Second Vibes. Love it!
What a find. Divine Emotion is a work of art.
Has a "Believe in Nothing" vibe for me - brilliant!!!!!! \m/
fucking awesome. "my" paradise lost are back!
Holy cow!!!! This is goth beyond goth!! The best of Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox and Paradise Lost.
Super cool. Been listening to TSOM since maybe '85.. Similar nuances. Really warm vibe to this tune.

Nice. Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and Gary Numan ceretainlly haven't lived in vain.

Straight into my veins. Can't wait for the album to be released. Again, great job Nick and Greg.
Absolutely love it. Been waiting for this kind of PL music for over 20 years

Symbol of Life, 2023 edition. Not bad at all.
A top 3 PL album for me, nary gets a mention though!

I like Believe In Nothing. But I've only heard the re-release remixed/remastered version. I read that they liked the songs but not the production.

Same with pop fans when a band go heavier. I've noticed that too. The pop fans crying over Medusa was unbearable 😅
