This song is about when you can’t seem to break the cycle of negative thinking and your mind is filled with guilt, shame and anger, twisting experiences and memories to leave them feeling inescapable. It explores the tendencies of being overwhelmed by anxiety, fear and self isolation. The concept seemed to naturally fit the instrumental and reinforce the headspace of the song.

This new direction that HLH is taking is giving the band a breather that it needed

I am liking this new direction! Adding in the harsh vocals was fantastic, I am hoping for more of that. Excited for the new album!
Tbh this took a little to rub off on me but now its constantly looping in my head and I find myself humming it subconsciously

For those who want something a bit more familiar, I recommend Valiant Hearts(specifically the first two songs of their Nu Soul EP + the Odyssey album)and Galleons. Galleons’ discography gets better as you progress thru, and you’ll notice both bands have the same lead vocalist. That’s one reason why you’ll also find the lyricism very familiar.
Josh is the singer of The Faim lol.

I have zero interest in Josh’s other band, especially if the past few months or so of HLH is any indication to go by. The possible difference in sound and direction of the two different bands is one thing, but Mr. Raven’s work itself is another(and hey, maybe he is different in The Faim, but even still, that’s honestly irrelevant to HLH. Again, no meaning, no weight, because The Faim doesn’t change HLH. That’s what I meant earlier)
Everything is *fine* as far as this band’s new era goes, but HLH has moved on, and I’m alright with that. I’ll likely opt to move on too after this next album, wish them the best, and that’ll be that.

HLH went hard with Dissonants, an absolute legendary album, and then tried different stuff with subsequent albums, but Tropo feels like a continuation of Dissonants, and I'm here for it.

Better than anything from the Anon album, but not as good as ground dweller or unimagine. Those albums were really lightning in a bottle scenarios. Fuck it must be hard though with record labels pushing you to put stuff out instead of having the freedom to just write songs at your own pace... That and touring oof.

Damn there was a glimpse of the old HLH breakdown there but then this dude screeches and ruined the entire breakdown. If the person that made the band good leaves and you replace them with a lesser vocalist and change the entire vibe just change the name of the band too. Aside from everything else, the same dancer from the first single with the new singer. To each their own, I just don't get it. Like.. they just bundled all the songs together and shot the same video for each one.
