They told her it wasn’t real and that she was pretending to be Joe Pesci’s mother She was definitely acting, and she deserves all the praise she can get.
Knowing it was all improvised makes this scene even better than it already was! I knew his mother played the roll, but I had no idea they were just letting fly.. awesome.
There is a lot to be impressed about in this scene given its all improv, but I love that Ray Liotta made the choice to be quiet mostly.... you would assume most actors when given the room to improv like this would feel the need to be seen "putting in the effort" but Ray knew how unsettled his character should be in the scene and played it right.... I love that the mother, not knowing about the body, tries to engage him too "Henry, you don't talk much?" lol
There is so much truth in this. My Italian step grandmother would make the bake ziti and then bring out the cheesecake or cannolis out every Sunday. We put the dogs in the car and go there. Seeing that scene always makes me smile ☺️
Is that Jim Jarmusch interviewing Scorsese? Is there a link to the whole interview? If Marty's mom didn't know about the body when she shot the scene, then I hope someone asks him how she responded when she saw the whole film and how her scene fit in lol

His mother acts better than most of the actors in Hollywood
Shes not acting
She wasn't acting. The men were.
They told her it wasn’t real and that she was pretending to be Joe Pesci’s mother
She was definitely acting, and she deserves all the praise she can get.
Now I understood what Denzel said about culture and why Goodfellas was made by Scorsese and Schindler List by Spielberg and not vice versa.
Good observation
Yep. An Italian for Goodfellow and a jew for Schindler's List.
Agreed I had to look up what a hot comb was I had no idea as an irish guy eating spuds here in Ireland
And if Denzel was siiting in that scene, she'd offer him fried some fried chicken and watermelon
Scorsese’s mom was perfect in every scene she was ever in.
Knowing it was all improvised makes this scene even better than it already was! I knew his mother played the roll, but I had no idea they were just letting fly.. awesome.
Knowing that entire scene was improvised, Makes it that much better!
The best part is that the mother mentions the panting and then pulls the painting from nowhere.
Aye, now, wait a minute... Who got pantsed, heh.!?!.

"...but she DOES love her son unequivocally."🥰
That's Marty talking about his own mother.❤❤❤🥹
I love when directors interview directors.
I loved her character
Katie deserves a star on the walk of fame

Italians have such a beautiful culture. The family centred on and the food!! Beautiful people
One of the greatest scenes ever!
not really, good scene though
One of the better scenes in a great movie.
His mother was excellent, that story she tells about the cheating wife is hilarious.
Sweet capture pure
I like that painting; one dog is looking one way and the other dog is looking the other way.
Martin Scorsese could play his mother now if he tried 😂
Disrespectful.
Lmao he definitely look like his mother and his dad.
If you’re not Italian you wouldn’t understand
Only a irishman has ketchup as their main condiment ruining good Italian food 😂

Is that Jim Jarmusch?
Is that interviewer the same dude in Slingblade playing the Burger Stand Employee?
The interviewer looks exactly like the same guy who sold French fries to Karl in the movie Slingblade.
Excellent scene
Why speed up the video?
Is that the fastfood worker from Slingblade?
Indeed it is...
it cant be remade... sadly
No, you're not watching the video in x2... It's just Martin speaking.
I wish my Italian mother was like that she was so poor and sick of me not showing up at the house for days at a time she kicked my ass out at 16
Why is Martin Scorsese being interviewed by the guy from the frosty cream shop in Sling Blade?
Sounds like 99.9% of all Mediterranean mothers ! Latin American, African
... Actually 99.9% of all mothers . 😂
Is the interviewer the guy from the French Fry stand in Slingblade???
Great scene
Give him some potatoes. French fried taters to be precise. Some of the biggins
The way this video is edited, makes it sound like an AI voice.
Best ever
The mothers had some idea and turned a blind eye to the violence?
This is cut so poorly it feels like A.I did it, let them finish their speaking Jesus.
epic!!!
❤
Yeah.. French fries
👏👌✌️
The editing on this video was so annoying
Wimps
Yuk. 🤨
I don’t support any director or movie that features the Anarchist, Robert De Niro
Zzzzzzz
"Naturalistic"?! Did he mean natural?
Man this interviewer is just blarf.
That’s Jim Jarmusch the film director and yes he is blarf
❤
