I know when I was meeting with a friend in Toronto I was really surprised he lives in Jamestown (Not St Jamestown) and idk what all the people in the comments are going on about. I've lived in Detroit my whole life and moved all over so I've experienced my fair share of ghettos. Toronto ghettos are different, and even a block away there could be a rich neighbourhood but the ghettos are the same but unlike American ghettos, instead of rundown houses, it's massive apartment buildings with a shitload of small shitty apartments. That's why it seems nicer because the outside is maintained for a nice image. The gangs are as real as they are as in any other big city. So before y'all go on about how Toronto isn't ghetto actually experience it. You can easily go and take pics of Compton and people would believe it's a nice area. Just because it looks nice doesn't means it is.
Rasta Buritos lmfao wow a stabbing at McDonald's you guys are hard as hell!!! There's been what like 700 killings in Chicago if you say nobody does shit there you're in the wrong part dumbass
A Dimayev Toronto is full of gangs. Don't believe it? MS-13 are here and they were considered the most dangerous gang of the world. Bloodz here to and many more. I'm not saying it is as bad as ATL or Philly but it's not as nice as most Americans make it seem
moss park has to be considered the most dangerous area out of these, despite the stats that show st.james town the area where most drug related crimes happen
bleeker has always been what it is, i've been walking through there for the past 3 years. when refering to moss park, were refering to the entire area that surrounds moss park.
@oobnick "There's no area int he GTA I would feel uneasy in" Take a trip to Jane/Finch or Cateraqui or Teesdale or Warden/Danforth or Regent Park (back in the day) etc etc. at about 2am.
well, i have to agree there, i used to live at kingston and g-way in the idlewood, i remember raids all the time in the projects there, gunshots at night, thats a real rough hood
Lived in both Regent Park and Moss Park as a kid. It wasn't really such a bad place, as far as I remember. Don't know about what's going on now though. But i think some of those projects don't even exist anymore. I heard they broke them down and developing the area. I don't really know what's wrong with all these "thugs" who wants to turn parts of Toronto into ghettos like in the States. We should be proud and happy we don't have anything near as bad as they have it.
@coyle7789 yeah man I used to live in the burbs and there were def parts of Philly I just wouldn't go to.. North Philly still scares the shit out of me. I live in the Toronto area now and even the worst parts aren't half as bad as many parts of Philly.
kids playing just says that the people who live in regent park respect the youth and want them to grow up proper. just because kids are outside at night doesn't change the poverty rate, the look of something doesn't make it ghetto, ghetto is a mentality.
alright yo i live downtown.. and you basically got the hoods.. but cabbagetown is not ahood at all.. RP obviously Jungle yes Parkdale.. and i never even heard on don mount.. but if youre talking about hoods that pop off... theres only a few there.. some real shit
Regent Park North and Regent Park South are gone now. Check my video "Toronto's Original Ghetto" to see what it looks like now. They've built an Aquatic Centre and a park, and they're building mixed-income condos where the projects used to be.
@bilburn your 100% right..i got family all over the usa and some of the projects there you can tell they are projects over here in canada they just look like regular ndigbourhoods
no matter what country or city you come from, theres always ganna be some kind of poverty and struggle. so for ppl to call toronto dudes wannabbees, real talks, everyone goes through the same struggle regardless of what block you come from. i bet there are nice areas in Detroit, NYC and Cleveland, but no matter how nice that area is, there's ALWAYS ganna be a hood, or block on the other side.
@coyle7789 i been through the hoods of oakland, san fran, LA, san diego, houston, new orleans, chicago, detroit, nyc, wash dc, seattle, boston, baltimore, atlanta, pittsburgh, minneapolis/ st paul.....and i am from cleveland. the illest though, would have to be north philly, the badlands. i scored some tight weed there but man was i on high alert!!
I was born in Regent Park it isnt that bad if you know who to connect with and who not to, its called common sense and feeling peoples vibes, now a days snakes are the first to call you Homie or Bro, Real Shit 100
whores is not the only thing going on in cabbagetown, it sounds like a nice name and that. but really alot of dirt goes down there, there are gangs repping that hood, and to be honest its almost like being in regent. but on the other hand just about every area in toronto is rough now, if you have any involvement in "the game" you know that.
downtown makes sense to be the real hood...its funny how jane n finch is like 10 mins away from all the rich areas like woodbridge...thornhill..richmounthill...north york downsview area..
thats because theres alot of people in jail right now.. there has been alot of raids in the last 2-3 years.. so i mean there jail sentences dont last long.. and besides murders... theres something like 300 shootings and 150 stabbings ... plus if you include the gta in torontos murders.. its something like 150...
i disagree. i used to walk through moss park at night a lot, several times a week alone, all year round and never had any trouble. ive been in some of the buildings too. when i lived at dundas/sherbourne bradley court apartments it was a zoo man. bleeker and wellesley is bad too.
and the whole GTA in 2008 had just under 100 murders, this includes the CITIES of : Toronto, (old toronto, York, North york, east york, etobicoke). Scarborough, Brampton, Mississauga, Markham, Pickering, Caledon, Oshawa, Vaughn, i got this from a website where it tells u were the murders happend there are more cities considered to be in the gta but i didnt count them cuz no murders happend ther
Every city has kids that act hard...and yeah, Canada is a safe country no doubt, but when you live in Toronto, where most of the kids dying on the streets are black and there's still racial profiling by the police force, it's a different story.
I'm from Australia. Why does Canada have so many boring brick buildings? Many apartment buildings look the same like in Korea or Russia? Even in the "nice" parts. To Australians, Canada is very boring.
Canada is beautiful. What you probably saw was 1.5 mill condos. We have mansions galore. We have the most beautiful country in the world. Australia is very boring, you can hardly understand the people. B O R I N G
Chloe wilson Thanks for the explanation but not buying it. Been to Vancouver and seen all the druggies and dealers.... and Montreal and seen all the rude french and people who don't shave under their pits. Mansions everywhere? I saw tiny little bungalows more than anything. I saw more mansions in 5 minutes in San Diego than I saw in my entire two weeks in BORING Canada. And don't call my country boring. If Australia is so boring then why do so many tourist choose to come here rather than your ugly nation where it is cloudy and winter for 8-10 months out of the year.
Trevor C We have 4 seasons idiot. Yes if you lived near the North Pole then yes it would be cold. What are you an arm pit freak, oh my. You probably smell them too to get off. Think people don't flock to Canada to see its beauty. Niagara Falls is packed 4 seasons out of the year. Plus you have all those murderers in Australia. When are you going to speak proper English? You find it boring because you are a boring person who is all alone, afraid to mingle. Smelling arm pits is not knowing people and having fun!!! Why are you on this page? Oh I get it looking for drugs!!! Addict!!
Chloe wilson Wow, someone is on the defensive. I guess some hot Australian girl took your man. Either that or your Australian ex boyfriend went for one of his own kind and dumped you. And wtf? The North pole is in Greenland you idiot. Stop believing everything your socialist government tells you. Australia is better than Canada hands down. And you have four seasons???? Yeah, okay. everyone has four seasons. Just differently categorized. Your fall and spring are snow snow snow then your summer is okay for a few weeks, then it's back to snow.
it doesnt matter where in the world where you are, having that many underpriviledged people living on top of each other is gonna lead to some shit going down, specially when illegal money and competition for it are always present. Also just so happens that people who live there like their neighborhod just as much as wealthy people like theirs, so outsiders either stay away or come through with respect and a friend or family member to vouch for you. home is home and the hood keeps a watchful eye
@sEby146 Hamilton is soft, but what does that say about a "hood" rapper getting robbed in soft area? How would he make out in the real bad places of Canada.
And half of the people commenting saying how toronto is soft and it's nothing please be quiet because I bet you guys never even been here if you has. You probably went to Niagara Falls, north York, or down town you people haven't came to the inner city such as Scarborough and seen what it's like to live here it's soo hard so don't talk shit if you haven't seen it
Lol I live in Scarborough. It's fine here lol. It just really depends in where you are. There could be the most ghetto LOOKING block and then five houses down it's like the rich family homes. And just based off looks, it's hard to tell the sketchy people from the normal...

What about the other hoods. I lived in brooklyn now I live in alexandra park there both ruff blocks. A better way to respond to your comment is don't judge these places by there looks or what people tell you judge them when you actually live their.
I completely agree with you man, I came to Canada 10 years ago, and let me tell you....sure there is shit going on as in every city but compared to other places like, third world countries, Canada provides the tools at a much higher level than most countries for you, some countries don't even have jobs!! if only people could travel.
