thbrightday How about perfectly matching the drum recording while listening to just the backing track? Of course, realistically only the _true_ Knife Master could do that…
That fill is so tasty, especially with the slap bass in the full track. And it leading into the groovy riff with the crash, dude. Soooo tasty. This band gets a lot of shit, but this is just excellent
Peanut_Goat sample augmentation has been around for a very long time, as far as I'm aware it's a favourite trick of Andy Wallace who's mixed everything by a7x since city of evil. If it sounds good, why not?
For those of you brave enough to attempt to replicate this recording, there's a _very_ thorough transcription of it in the Avenged Sevenfold drums book by Hal Leonard. I'm still mindfucked just trying to read it and keep up with it at the original tempo. The book I mentioned also has drum transcriptions for Afterlife, Almost Easy, Bat Country, Beast and the Harlot, Nightmare, and Unholy Confessions. I strongly recommend getting your hands on a copy of it. It's so cool to be able to see in writing what Jimmy did in the studio.
A7X foREVer As a hardcore a7x fan and not so much on dream theater you are right. Jimmy was a much more unique musician though in total, portnoy was a bit better overall drummer
You can hear the Hi-hat doing off-beat "tss-tss" in your left headphone/speaker, if you listen carefully. Maybe he's doing it on purpose, but I don't know, sounds a bit strange to me :)

The Rev entered god mode
What an absolute God on the drums.
This is a lot less busy than a lot of his other drum tracks, but it gives the song the space it needs to groove. So brilliant
lmao you can see the revs eyes through his glasses it looks like he has a lazy eye, its like a derp face xD i love it!
damn i can't see this photo the same again :(
I have a slight lazy eye too man no worries lmao
there is nothing like playing an amazing song from the actual track of just the drums.

The best drummer ever
He's in the conversation that is for sure
i feel the tension rising with every repetition
Pure, Jimmy:(

I swear each one of his limbs had their own individual brain
The best no 1 heavy metal drummer in the world
The 4 dislikes are from headbanging while trying to hit the like button 🤘
Happens to me 2 sometimes 😂
I miss drummers that actually kicked the bass drum :/
true
Synister Shreds is this cuz everyone just programs the kicks in the recording now?
Pretty much man, or they'll play and in mixing and mastering replace the kick...not such a bad thing

Kick triggers are a key part of metal... Jimmy has used them plenty of times. Don't know what OP is saying.
God the REV is crazy on drums
Just.... Beautiful

Onitino 007 *cough* MIKE PORTNOY *cough*
Pigly_Jainda Squad f*ck you...
The Rev lmao funny joke... Rev was amazing, one of the best, but not as good as Portnoy

1:33 the actual song doesn’t do this part justice whatsoever
it does, it’s the type of beat he would always bring to the table and it was god tier
Sometimes people seem to forget that metal can be danceable and still hard as fuck 🤘
I wish I can be as good as him! Farewell REV! FoREVer!
He was slamming his snare 😮 BTW the bass drum in the verses is one foot 🔥🔥🔥
That is the original drum track!
Wow Rev respect👏🤘
A7x already said it themselves that Brooks and The Rev are alike and I agreed with that. But listening to this made me understand much more why.
This is so fucken groovy
He has inspired me a lot
Pretty good drum track
Best drummer rev Jimmy👌👍

How did you get this track?? Do you have more of the Rev drumming tracks?
it's from the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games
and i Subscribe this video
Is it just me or is he doing something weird on the hi-hat at 2:32?

Tamerlan Respawn he closes the high hat and hits it twice and then hits the snare(with his left hand) all to keep rhythm, i guess
Yup, that's exactly what I meant
its easy bro hit hihat with your left hand after hit the snare
He does that in throughout the whole song. I don't think there's anything weird about it. It sounds really cool to me.
