We took a round trip to both ends, starting from Arashiyama, I’m not sure about the seat number but definitely recommend the outdoor cabin! (Only one cabin in the whole train is outdoors, so if you want to feel the wind and sounds and take in the nature more, go for that one)

Also, if you do the round trip, I recommend getting a seat on the same side for both ways so that you can enjoy the scenery of both sides
