Totally agree with you about the name. Miltassia sounds so much better than Bratonia. Love the curling sepals

Lovely flower but the problem, same as Miltonias, is the climbing habit. If those new roots are just left exposed the older roots die off and the plant gradually goes downhill so I try and tuck moss around those new roots until they get repotted, the back bulb then gets removed and the new roots buried. It means regular repotting 😔

Yes they are tricky! Bonsai pots work for me!

i have one like this but mine produces a brown and yellow flower so it looks more like a spider. I live in Jamaica so its hot and humid but we are having loads of rain right now. I grow mine in a 12" coco basket which hangs over one of my rain barrels and it seems to love it. The barrel has a mesh cover to prevent mosquitoes from breeding but still allows the water to evaporate so i think my orchid likes that setup; But the surprising thing is that i have had so much new growth (its growing bigger than its basket), BUT every year i only get one flower spike. i don't dear move it because i did that once and it almost died and it seems to love where it is now. but no matter how much care and fertilizer i give it, it still only produces one flower spike. It does give me a lot of blooms on the one spike and thy do last a very long time. I'm hoping to get another one but they are really hard to find out here.

Hi Matthew, I've been waiting for an update on your Sweet Senorita, have you had any luck getting her to flower? I have one and am near you, mine grows but I haven't managed any flowers as yet, sadly.

I'm guessing that is Bratonia Estrelita 'Bolero'. I have the other common clone 'Sweet Senorita', there is a third clone that looks nearly identical to Bolero called 'Banyena', the difference between the two is Banyena has entirely straight sepals. It should be fragrant, both parents are and my Sweet Senorita is quite fragrant but only when it gets hit by the sun.

Thank you - no fragrance but I might just have missed it's moment!

Beautiful. It curls like my hair on a humid day and doesn't look as lovely. 😐
