My brother had the most intelligent, biddable & obedient chocolate lab you could ever meet. In fact he was top of his obedience class. I’m about to get my first black lab and am so pleased to have found your channel.
I hear Labradors shed twice a year. For six months from spring and the same again from autumn 😁 oh and I only wear yellow or fox red nowadays. Very informative video, especially about the breeding. I once had a chocolate lab, mad as a box of frogs
Also, don't goto a breeder with a set color your 100% set on. A lab even as a 12 week old pup will choose you & you will know it & go home to a different color than intended. Better yet, goto a shelter & adopt one. This breed somehow knows if your a good owner & even as a adult can be trained. The hair though is no joke! It real fine, & if you dont have a decent vacuum it will clog. That said if you put the time in as a pup(This is a must), you & your lab will be partners forever!
My chocolate lab is eight years old. She is totally healthy and one big goofball in our family. With labradors, keeping their weight on Point is definitely a good thing, they are like a vacuum cleaner with teeth they’re eating is unbelievable I’ve left to their own device. Physical and mental stimulation every day is essential. Also bone broth is good for the health bones, joints and tendons. I also give our dog CBD 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night. It has a great anti-inflammatory property. I definitely would help when and if my dog ever develops, arthritis or hip and joint dysplasia. Keep your dog happy, do the right thing and love them, they only want to make you happy and love you with all their being, try to do the same
I would like to add that some breeders can be resonsible and amazing without owning the father of the litter. A lot of breeders will pick a stud dog that fits well with their female who is owned by somebody else. This means that the breeder should let you meet the mother, but may not be able to let you meet the father.
It's a little funny he says "you wouldn't pick a dog by its looks alone" because I sort of did. It was between black or chocolate labs and i liked the shine on the black lab's coat. I had no clue the color is almost a sub category of labs and that chocolates had a shorter life span and were slightly less trainable. Good information to know.
I have two Lab brothers, chocolate and yellow, born first and last one out, they still ruff house a little to much and they just turned one, vet said it's normal, how do you stop this behavior, playing is great but ruff housing I don't like and my shepherd doesn't like it so she barks to tell me.

Is that a reference to that Girl With the Dogs video ft. Thor? LOL

Soon I will have my second Labrador. The best dogs ever.
I had no idea about the chocolate lab being rarer and having shorter lives
Ha! I know shedding.... I've had 4 labs (3 black, 1 chocolate) and 3 German Shepherds. For me, the love I got was worth every hair.
okay, just the idea that they used to euthanize puppies simply for being the wrong color is horrifying. Humans in no way deserve the gift of dogs.

i hate how much my lab sheds 😭🤣😭
Wow, I would have never thought fur color would determine temperament and health of a dog. That sucks.
I have a silver lab!
