I've recently gone Gluten Free due to digestive issues, I managed to make some GF Pasty Pastry for some Pasties (because I'm originally from Cornwall) and I've made a GF Quiche, I'm going to give these a GF (abervate that how you like) try this weekend 😂
Yes, after a bit of confusion in the beginning! I only read Bakewell tarts and started listening (I was doing something else at the same time). I was so sure it was another heavenly recipe from Scrummy TV! It was like when you take a drink from what you're sure is a glass of lemonade, but it's water instead! Both refreshing, but the brain goes blank for a second. Or two.😂
Oh gosh these where my favorite Mr Kiplings as a child and these look just like them. Sweet and happy memories, Gonna have to have a go at your recipe.
Had a day trip to Bakewell on Monday and bought the Almond Tart because we didn’t fancy the iced one. Now I’ve watched this I think I’ll give em a go because I fancy one. Thanks for sharing, stay well.
They look amazing Cheryl. Are u sure you didn't buy them & chuck the Mr kipling box away !!! 😅😊 when u said in 1 of your videos you were going to make these I thought they were gonna be really difficult, but seeing you make them they looked quite easy. So I'm definitely going to give these a go, all I need is some pasrty I have all the other ingredients, I might even make the pastry myself, we will see !! But they look really professional Cheryl so we'll done you 🍰🍒🌰
Hi Cheryl, your Cherry Bakewell Tartlets turned out beautifully, bet the family loved them. Have only ever made the large version before & cut up into serving sized pieces, but your wee creations look so much posher!😍 Thanks as always for sharing your recipe & the cooking demo.🙏 Take care & enjoy the rest of your week. xx👩🏻🍳💕💞🩷
This isn’t a common dessert in the states, but I’ve learned about them on the British baking shows. Your recipe looks easy enough to try, and I just purchased several pounds of almonds from a local growers!
I know I said this before but these tarts look like they are straight out of a video game or a fairy tale book they look so flawlessly perfect! Just like they were programmed and animated. So perfect choice for a gift. I have to make these even though, I don't have sweet tooth I think this is something I'd love. 🥰 Thanks for sharing an other great recipe Cheryl! ❤
I moved overseas in 2018, and miss very very few things about the UK, food items are an exception. Stumbled across your channel which has been a joy to follow along to, all your recipes turn out wonderfully!! Thank you!
Well Cheryl, your tarts look better than the ones my mum made when I was growing up ,no icing on hers, but delicious non the less.I have worked as a pastry chef in restaurants in NYC,when I made them we just called them almond tarts,as Americans wouldn’t know what a Bakewell tart was. Before baking I topped them with sliced almonds, and served them with ice cream, and always raspberry jam,Americans don’t seem to like much that is cherry flavor, though they like cherries.Children’s medicine is cherry flavor,so I think that puts them off anything but fresh cherries.
They look delicious. I've enjoyed watching you make these as I'd always thought they were difficult to make. Handy hints all the way through, don't think I'd be scared to do it now, thank you 👍😁
Oh my gosh what a professional looking result Cheryl. I'd love to give these a go but I'm a bit intimidated, as I don't think mine would look half as good!
For people with a nut allergy you can substitute the ground almonds with semolina, you can also add a couple of drops of synthetic almond essence. ( not real extract)
"just be gentle and it will slip right in" -- hmmmm where have i heard this before???? I just upscaled this receipe to make 10 dozen! Thank you for a recipe that was very simple to upscale. They came out amazing.
Thank you, Cheryl, for a great recipe! Sometimes, we only need a small dessert. You have made me curious....would you make a video about what you do with the extra [or scraps] of the pastry? You mentioned there are so many things to do with them.
Looks delicious! I’ve always wondered what a Bakewell Tart was. I’ve read about them but never actually found them anywhere near me (Ohio). Can’t wait to try them 😊
Ah, have my own personal premix macaroon paste for this. Lidl pastry contains both sugar and alcohol. Yes, this is absurd. Used to use a plain cutter for the pastry, but now it's a fluted one. There's some good advice here...
I just made a trip to the British shop called the British peddler all he had was Battenberg and fancied bakewells or fondant fancies 😞so I bought picnics instead 😁👍🏼
When did Aldi start selling Sainsbury's pastry ? 😂 I use your recipies regularly and enjoy the way you explain the process without the pretention that many you tube cooks throw into the mix. Thanks
Neither do I, can't abide the stuff but somehow well-made Bakewell Tarts (such as these) are so very unmarzipanish that they have to be tried to be believed. Try one.❤
@@nalodailec I have !! Unfortunately for me my Mother loved marzipan and she kept putting Bakewell on the ‘menu’ - needless to say that I haven’t had one since ! 😂
These seem very easy to make and look beautiful. Cheryl mentioned that she bought the shortcrust pastry at Aldi. Does anyone know if it's sold in American Aldis? I live in a rural area in the Midwest and would have to take about a 45 minute drive to the nearest Aldi so any help would be appreciated 🙂
Not really the same. I really wish you could get premade shortcrust pastry here in the US. I’m originally from Scotland but have lived in the US for many years. Pillsbury pie crust and similar pie crust brands just don’t have the same taste and texture as shortcrust. I hate making pastry.
@@annegraham4307 • Thanks for the information. I guess if I want the real experience, I'll have to learn to make shortcrust pastry. Pillsbury isn't very good compared to homemade pie dough so learning to make pastry is probably worth the effort.
Good recipe but I have a hatred for amything with frangipane or marzipan I'm afraid!! These, frangipane tarts battenburg or cakes with marzipane I cannot bare!! And Simmnel cake at easter my wirst nightmare sorry Cheryl 😂
❤ good evening folks! Hope you enjoy this one…it’s such a good wee recipe ❤ 😊

Amazing recipe!
Cheryl, have you ever had a go at making a Yorkshire Curd Tart? Some people say that they are one of the earliest types of Cheesecake.
Oh I haven’t! I’ll need to look them up ❤
Thankyou sooo much for offering a jam alternative as its almost impossible to find cherry jam here
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 😮
They are so cute. TY for your recipe. I'd love to know how you use the scrap dough.
Gotta try this just wanted the icing to do do for some small cherry cakes next time wanted to ice them.
Looks delicious! I’ve always wondered what a Bakewell Tart was. I’ve read about them but never actually found them anywhere near me (Ohio). Can’t wait to try them 😊

Many people ,and companies put alcohol into their pastry, the alcohol evaporates in the oven making the pastry short, and crisp,so it’s not unusual.
Emma is such a good sport

Glen and Friends on You Tube make a Canadian treat called Nuns Farts with the left over pastry. Worth having a look if you don't like wasting it.
ooh dear aunty these look delicous can i take 6 for the mess room thanks
Aldi make Sainsburys pastry now ? , lol Cheryl
Probably comes from the same factory 😂
I was thinking the same thing but it's probably just a slip of the tongue and either brand will work just as well lol
Hi cheryl, did you say you was using pastry from aldi, well I'm confused as it says sainsburys on the packet of it.
I’ve always wondered exactly what a Bakewell tart was.
Rudyard Kippling specials
I'll bet they beat the shop bought cherry bakewells.
Yum xxxxxx
These are called "Empire" tarts in Canada. I think it should be called a "bake-well" instead.
Whenever my Mum or Aunt were baking, any leftover pastry became cheese straws............
You said Aldi shortcut but then show us Sainsbury's....which one is it?
Does anyone know if shortcrust pastry is the same as pie crust pastry in the U.S.A.?

I prefer no icing on top of my Bakewell
DAMN!! With 600 plus patreons at $5 to $10 per MONTH, you should be rolling neck deep in $$$$$$!!! Geeze!!!
Fabulous 👍 btw it’s aRmond not aLmond
