So here goes: I really don't understand people when they say that bases help the artist improve at anatomy. I mean, do whatever you want. Use a base if that's what you're comfortable with. But as someone who's been drawing her whole life, I can say that it won't help you improve at drawing anatomy. When using bases, you're basically relying on someone else to do the anatomy for you. The only way to improve at drawing anatomy is by practicing. And by practicing I mean ACTUALLY DRAWING AND STUDYING HOW THE BODY MOVES. Oh, and if you need tips, you can also try tracing or re-drawing someone else's work (just credit them, or you know... Don't put it in the internet at all. You're only practicing anyway). That's how I learned how to draw different body types and certain hand gestures in different angles.
