So ridiculous. He's done nothing but mistreat her since she arrived but she's madly in love with him? I guess she likes being treated rudely, ignored, insulted, manhandled when he keeps grabbing her arm and yanking her around that began right at their wedding night, frowning at her, glaring at her, staring angrily at her, walking away from her as she's speaking to him, refusing to stop a carriage when she gets motion-sick from it and he and his brothers laugh at her discomfort being so sick while traveling that way, abandoning her in a palace she doesn't even know her way around, shows up drunker than a skunk for his own wedding to her and then practically assaults her when she tries to sober him up by pouring water on his face and doesn't discipline the younger brother when he locks her overnight in the memorial hall or harasses her outside her window. He allows and encourages the brothers to mistreat her, set her up for failure and embarrassment in front of the palace guards and servants, and she goes missing (gets lost) for a full night and he doesn't even know or care that she's missing but he has the audacity to tell her at the lake "you've stolen my heart". This script is laughable. She's bawling her eyes out because she doesn't want to leave him but all he's done in a positive light is to catch her when she jumps off the roof trying to find her own way out of a locked palace she was intentionally and cruelly locked in overnight and he probably only caught her because the emperor was standing right there with him. Other than that one positive gesture, all he's done is ignore her, neglect her and mentally, emotionally, and physically abuse her. What's to love? Then her father gets caught in his intentional deception that he sent the wrong daughter for marriage into this family, he admits it, laughs about it, brushes it off as if it wasn't connivingly deceptive for his own selfish purposes, and not one person there confronts him, challenges his integrity or credibility, holds him accountable, nothing. He pretty much said "oops, my bad" and all is forgotten. This isn't a drama: it is a comedy. Back then, marriages were more political alliances to stave off rebellions and wars and for him to have deceived this entire prominent family would never have been handled this way: he would have been held accountable at the very least demoted, exiled, imprisoned along with his entire family and their lands, properties, wealth taken away including his noble status and maybe executed along with his entire family. With a father like that, it is a wonder how she developed empathy, kindness, wisdom and integrity herself, clearly shown when she refused to fire that arrow at the soldier's head and told the regiment she'd rather forego garnering their respect if it means endangering another person: that she couldn't guarantee she'd hit the pot and not the man showed immense maturity, humility and wisdom on her part. If you have to endanger one of their own to gain their respect, that kind of respect is worthless. Not one of the other soldiers would have traded places with that man, yet they were all willing to stand there and watch her take that shot. It seems the entire palace is a circus of clowns.
