We finally figured out what the Star pack's central mechanic is. Turtle is default, Puppy is toys, Golden is trumpets, Mythical is mana, and new Star is just gambling

@@Hippogriffakacrripperks too, but every tier in puppy pack has a toy producing pet and there are other pets that revolve around the too like flying squirrel and mosasaur etc.

SAP devs killed their own game by pandering to the competitive players. It used to be chill and fun, now it's just annoying.
The competitive scene makes it more fun but I get the desire for a casual mode.
@@SavouryLobster I agree. It used to be a simple game so easy to get started with, abilities were simple and you could add whatever you felt was nice at the time and synergies were just a fun plus. Now you start the game predicting your endgame team because synergies are a MUST.

The new Starfish honestly seems extremely high rolley, and I don't really quite like it. The only "easy" source of lvl 3 pets in the pack is pilling an ant eater and selling the ant, which by itself is just a +1 +1 for 3 pets, and as it was showed, the only good way to make it viable is somehow getting several level 3 pets (a total of 18 gold invested on the starfish at all + 18 for each pet, not to mention all of the gold needed to reroll and to bring the pet to 10 attack) as well as itself for a grand total of +9 +9 to 3 pets, maybe less if you are pivoting your whole team just to make it work.
In fact, on that second to last game where Skootie got the Starfish at 26:23, two chocolates saved up and rolled *the entire shop worth of 30 gold* for a level 3 starfish (who didn't got) the only real stats it gave for the final party was two instances of +6 +6.
Now, the shop was already selling tier 6 pets, so let's compare those numbers and that exact situation but making it to be a Bird of Paradise instead:
- He rolls once and finds it
- Sells a level 2 Elk, putting him at a base of 11 gold
- Buys the 2 chocolates, sells the other level 2 Elk and buys the other Reindeer that he will be keeping. By this point BoP would have triggered once, so let's say the worst outcome happens and only 1 Reindeer gets hit for +2 +2.
- He rolls once, then sells the Kiwi that has accumulated his weight in 30 gold, leaving him to 31 more gold to roll.
- Rolls three times, buys a chocolate, and BoP triggers a second time, giving the two Reindeers +2 +2, a total of +2 +2/+4 +4 accumulated
- Buys another BoP, rolls 4 more times, let's assume the worst happens and each BoP hits only one reindeer once, for a total of +3 +3/ +6 +6 for example
- Rolls 7 more times, same deal: +4 +4/+8 +8
- Rolls 5 times, then buys the third Reindeer; same as before, let's assume only 2 Reindeers get hit, for a whole total of +2 +2/+6 +6/+8 +8
The previous example assuming the worst RNG possible, not taking into account minmaxing buy-sells to get one or two extra procs, buying stat food or even selling the final Marmoset to do it all over again and giving at minimum 4 more guaranteed procs to all Reindeers for an extra +8 +8 on every one of them. While yes, BoP is a Tier 6 pet and therefore "better", the new Starfish is way too inconsistent and a high-risk mid-reward overall. I feel it's gonna cost people more games trying to make it work than just doing literally anything else with the insane investment (and luck) that it demands of you.

Imo they should remove the ugly old one, and then add a new animal, velociraptor was a really different animal from archeopteryx. There is a bunch of really interesting prehistoric animals, so there is no reason why keep same species in a few variants, and i really hate that there is many dogs breeds for no reason.
This pack feels like as if you had to rely on getting the pill or you lose the game. Strawberry Jam is just a worse pill. Strawberry itself is horrible.
