Try tighten up your pivot, mine doesn't have any blade play. If that doesn't work then you can sometimes bend your lock bar just a little bit and that will usually fix it
Yes I saw this on a couple of knives maybe they want to give you the option to drill through the scales if you want or need to have a left-handed carry but mostly the pocket clip will not have the inset feature and who knows if the screws are long enough.
