...You really CAN feel it in your soul. That's how I knew I was a believer eventhough I was not brought up going to church. This song is beautiful, isn't it ? Just beautiful !
Amen What a real revolutionary idea : Jesus Christ and his mass : Christmas ! Not shopping but honoring the inspiration for salvation and the founder fathers ! Jesus Christ ! 🙏
When you go to church on Sunday and leave your Saviour out You feel like you're alone when you all begin to shout When you get that old time religion you want the world to know you can feel it in your soul You can feel it in your soul that you want the world to know you can feel it in your soul Some people ask the neighbors about the ways of sin And what they have to do for Christ to live within But let me tell you brother one thing you should know you can feel it in your soul You can feel it in your soul... If you haven't got time religion and don't know what to do You better take up the Bible and lead the pages through It tell you any word of things you want to know you can feel it in your soul You can feel it in your soul...
@Pickinbuddy ....Yes it's really amazing how you can feel God's presence. Where would we be without our relationship with our dear Lord and saviour? Nice to hear a pretty song proclaiming this special feeling!
Yep.. This music makes me feel it in my soul. This is back when music was from the heart and soul. I know when I go to heaven the good Lord will have a Blue Grass band there and Earl will be on banjo. RIP Earl
Fabulous early recording of this mind boggling band. You can see here that his touch on guitar is just as unique as his banjo work. He was universally copied on both instruments.....The notes can be duplicated, but the sound NEVER has been.
@Guy Dude When I was young back in the 60s, I went to a Bluegrass festival near Nashville. When asked by the announcer (I think it was T. Tommy) how he learned to play the guitar, Earl answered, "from Mother Maybelle". Heard it with my own ears.
@Guy Dude I don't disagree with you. I'm just a stickler when it comes to my Bluegrass music. Been a fan for more than 60 years now. Carl Perkins was a big influence on the Beetles, too.
I remember this song, I heard it lots times on radio, I was about 10 years old at time And if youre right with God then "you wont have to ask no body!, you can feel it in your soul!
Stan Whittaker from your "liked videos" id have to say sir that you are a sick individual. I will be sending my prayers up for you. Good luck my friend
Ya know my parents listened to country from 40s - 60s and so I heard it from a young age and the theme from hillbillies made an impression on my young child mind. It sticks I my head that song. Not just the melody but the "sound" of the banjo and how earl played. Cheers
It's nice this guy got featured in this song. And it's such a perfect part. Tomorrow I'm gunna be working and singing to myself "and wont have to ask nobody, you can feel it in your soul !"
Two of my all time fave guitar pickers were more known as banjo men... Earl Scruggs and Don Reno. Both were among the first string wizards/super pickers!
You know that Earl Scruggs joined Bill Monroe in 1945, but Don Reno was offered the job in 1943. Reno turned the job down to join the army, eventually fighting with Merrill's Marauders in WWII.
Two of them were great pickers, also Bill Napier around that time played mandolin and banjo often as well as his flatpicking. Earl really had his own style as shown here, as did Don too. Don is underrated as a guitarist
Earl's guitar playing reminds me a lot of Chet Atkins when he played an acoustic guitar on some pieces. But Earl gives credit to Maybelle Carter who taught him her style of playing. They were neighbors.
So...that guy standing in the background doing nothing was the upright bass player during this time and uncle josh normally played dobro - I believe this is correct. So...what gives here? I can't be certain, but I believe his name is Charles Elza nickname "Little Darlin".
If you look about .015-.022 you can see Uncle Josh on the left side slapping a bass. Must be before they put him on the dobro where his real talent was.
the guitar looks like a Gibson does anybody no for sure ? if it is it sure blows martin clear out of the water, that means I have been messing with the wrong guitar all these years.
It's a Gibson Southern Jumbo. Early 50's model. George Shuffler used one of these models when he worked with the Stanley Brothers. Hank Williams also used one of these SJ's of this vintage as well.
Amazing song.....
Look at ol Curly playing that air Mandolin!!
I love how the little guy chimes in with the bass part LOL
lol yeah that's the best part
This is pure Truth! You don't get lyrics in Christian songs like this any more. Bold Truth.
pure, simple, and direct
...You really CAN feel it in your soul. That's how I knew I was a believer eventhough I was not brought up going to church. This song is beautiful, isn't it ? Just beautiful !
Earl was excellent on guitar on the gospel numbers!
Amen! God bless you all. This was one of my mothers favorite song y'all did ❤
Amen
What a real revolutionary idea : Jesus Christ and his mass : Christmas ! Not shopping but honoring the inspiration for salvation and the founder fathers ! Jesus Christ ! 🙏
Earl Scruggs was a master on guitar and banjo.
So lovely!

nobody plays like Earl, he was one in a billion, nobody does it like Earl did it !!

He is still the standard bearer on banjo.

It will never be any better, than this right here !!!!
Good stuff. As a boy they were on every Saturday evening. You are my flower is a favorite!

I met Earl in Oklahoma in 2004. Still the biggest moment in my life.
Unforgettable evergreen Americana!
never saw Earl playing that guitar before!! cool!
He’s sexier than I ever imagined.
Man, I felt that in MY soul alright!
RIP Mr. Earl Scruggs...I grew up hearing your music. From Beverly Hillbillies and your appearances on t.v.
Ya know my parents listened to country from 40s - 60s and so I heard it from a young age and the theme from hillbillies made an impression on my young child mind. It sticks I my head that song. Not just the melody but the "sound" of the banjo and how earl played. Cheers
@BlueBassBoss AMEN!! I wish Earl would've recorded a guitar album---he is one of the most original guitar stylists in country music!
Can’t lie, after _seeing_ Earl pickin’ that guitar...I’m a little bit in love.
Absolutely without question....The Best!
Thats some deep voice that guy has.
That is the fiddle player, Paul Warren.
It's nice this guy got featured in this song. And it's such a perfect part. Tomorrow I'm gunna be working and singing to myself "and wont have to ask nobody, you can feel it in your soul !"
Really shows how Nashville has went down hill as fast Music 🎶 goes Johnny From Alabama
Real deal right there!🙏👌
Awesome!

this guitar is really something ! that big E strange bad to the bone !!!!!!!!!!!
I was 4 when this was filmed
Harmony is great
It stinks that a lot of the episodes from this show are lost and not on dvd.
Why they're right here in my memory! 5:30 to 6:00 o'clock every morning on Radio 650 WSM Air Castle of the South. It was a daily ritual for us.
Earl's guitar playing reminds me a lot of Chet Atkins when he played an acoustic guitar on some pieces. But Earl gives credit to Maybelle Carter who taught him her style of playing. They were neighbors.
Not many know that Paul Warren was a WW II POW for 3 years.
Well, guess it’s no surprise Earl’s one hell of a guitar picker too!
So...that guy standing in the background doing nothing was the upright bass player during this time and uncle josh normally played dobro - I believe this is correct. So...what gives here? I can't be certain, but I believe his name is Charles Elza nickname "Little Darlin".
@CARROLLCTYDOBROGIRL Me too!
Is that a 7 string banjo Earl is taking at 2:36 ?
Little guy had a big voice.
Paul Warren, the fiddler!
what is the fingering he is using on the "2" chord? The B flat?
earl on the 6 string
If you look about .015-.022 you can see Uncle Josh on the left side slapping a bass. Must be before they put him on the dobro where his real talent was.
Josh was always the Dobro player, but, quite often played Bass if Dobro wasn't called for in the song......
Earl could sound like Merle and Merle could sound like Earl .
the guitar looks like a Gibson does anybody no for sure ? if it is it sure blows martin clear out of the water, that means I have been messing with the wrong guitar all these years.

I believe this was Mac Wiseman’s guitar.
Hey Miami where is Jennifer Lopez truth. Like Trustworthiness in Puerto Rico and Spanish word.. lets here it that spirit you speak of Santeria?
