@natalie You are talking about talent. That is a different argument. I am talking about rule of thumb. I am a soccer player. So I can say height is matter. If you are short, you MUST have talent. Otherwise you are out. In football or soccer if a player is tall, he/she still has an advantage over the other players. Example: In soccer, Messi is an exception. I am sorry I don't see Skiing, Ice Skating and Horse Riding are pure sports.
No hate but I think Japan getting a new libero was a good move, Yamamoto is noticeable and gets many digs but this one lacks a little in the defensive department which he specializes in
David Lee is listed as 203 CM tall and Matt Anderson is 202 CM tall. But clearly, Matt is taller than David. lol By the way, I think David Lee is one of the best middle hitters/blockers during his time.
As someone who has both played volleyball and watched/read Haikyuu, there's literally nothing wrong with those who have seen the show watching the matches. The more people exposed to the sport and like it, the better.
I love watching volleyball. I've seen quite a few match in different yrs and team playing against USA, one I'm impressed about is # 11 as a pace setter, Shoji very good stopper and digging up balls,Russell, Anderson, Lee very blocker and spiker, spider, one Sanders can jump high considered his height to the rest of the players but he needs to improve his serving. Serving percent error was so high, that's there downfall otherwise, THEY'RE VERY GOOD PLAYERS.
I think that the teams were evenly matched but Japan's focus on technical skill and attempting to out-think their opponent makes me respect them more as a cohesive unit than the USA of which being honest has raw power and personal skill more so than team cohesion. Just my take on it.
with due respect, professor pixel, perhaps the first two sets could be considered as evenly matched, but the last two sets, with scores of 25-11 and 25-14 in the USA favor, as much as I admired the Japanese team's tenacity, it was not even at all.
@@leahkmlee in addition to what you said sir. USA wont be top ranked if they are less of a cohesive team per Pixel's standard. Lets note that during these time, 3/6 regulars just got out of college but theyve been playing really well. Plays are executed wonderfully, Blocks are organize. Although floor defense needs improvement and this US weakness is not new. Respect to Japanese Team but lets not discount the fact that US is way better team.
Your take is completely, annoyingly wrong. Resorting to tipping frequently is not "focus on technical skill and attempting to out-think". Japan tipped more in the earlier sets because they can't compete against the US blockers. Eventually the tips stopped working because the US was picking them up easily, and Japan was forced to try to swing, but were then getting blocked left and right (literally). I can't even fathom what you mean by team cohesion, since Japan seemed to be the team having more communication issues. Also, just because they were scrappy does not mean they are more cohesive as a team. You cannot seriously try to rationalize the claim that the US is evenly matched with a team they beat 25-11 and 25-14 in the last two sets (with some subs in, by the way; the gap could've potentially been even larger). You're right that the US has more raw power and personal skill. But they have no less team cohesion than Japan, and are objectively far beyond Japan's level.
Wow, ALL of the services were aimed at Ishikawa (though some missed), did they already perceive him as such a threat? Or hoped to score of his receiving? (Or maybe both?) He still seems a little insecure at that, especially at the beginning of the match (I know he's just 19 here), but that's one way to practice receiving services hahaha. And he still got the Award for Best Outside Spiker - what a stamina monster! Edit: I am definitely Team Japan, but man Team USA is killing it here, especially Anderson. And nervous Yamauchi when he's serving is cute =D.
@Shensaw your comments everywhere and it seems like you really hate team Japan...well ISHIKAWA in this game was the youngest thats why he always the target since he join in NT,but thanks to that he improved so much in reception.
Though I am very late to the show… ALL HAIKYUU FANS:!!!! FUN FACT: It is said that Ushijima Wakatoshi is based off of Kunihiro Shimizu, number 1 on Japan. From his build and jersey number, to the fact that he is also left handed
Yes, he's Hawaiian-born. But his father is Japanese. In fact, Eric not only mentions his Japanese heritage on his YT channel, but he did an interview in May with NPR about what AAPI month means to him, given his background.

The Japanese No. 15 only has 1.86m but he is very powerful in jumping and hitting, and Japanese team is more coordinated.
