1977-1979 GS1000L. The round cam covers with two Phillips screws give away the year. Solid unit. Gonna need the following items: Brake Master Cylinder, Russell Steel Braid Lines, Tank Kreem (take out fuel level float assembly first), Pingel Fuel Petcock Valve, Appropriate Makuni Carb Rebuild Kit, Carb Sync Tool, Battery, Clutch Cable, Barrett Clutch Disks, Voltage Rectifier, Vance & Hines or Kerker 4 into 1 exhaust, Tires (Barracuda or Cheng Seng), Cam Cover Gasket, Front Shock Seals, Front Shock Rebuild Tool, Oil, Oil Filter, Spark Plugs (NGK), Turn Signals, Mirrors, Grips, Chain (most likely 630-96), EMGO Ignition Switch.
I had about half of that list in my head, but the kerker 4 into 1 i have never heard that on a Suzuki, i use to have a KZ-750 kawasaki with a kerker and loved the sound, always wondered what it would sound like on another bike brand.
I've heard a Kerker 4 into 1 on a V65 Magna several times, I second that motion, best sounding pipes I've personally heard on any bike and especially on a four cylinder.

That's if they were going to do a proper resto. They way they 'secured' the bike on the back of the tow truck resting on the front guard suggests to me that this'll be a hack job. Which is a shame because that bike looked relatively clean and undamaged. They should sell it to someone who would appreciate it.

Bending the frame like dodges are known for. Look at the gap dif between the cab and bed top and bottom. Ruined it towing that trailer

Do like a faux glass inlay on that chonky b pillar, make it look like the old Chevy "king cab" style. Don't need to actually cut a hole, just the look of a window there would help immensely.

My Grandpa the pilot, RIP, had 3 of these over his lifetime, his favorite street bike he ever rode. He started with the 1000 and as he got older he downgraded to a 750 and then to a 500. The 500 was completely restored in secret by my Uncle and was gifted to him on his 75th birthday. Miss you Grandpa❤

I haven't won anything and I'm sure this will get skipped over, but the reason anyone like myself (an iron worker) is interested is because of the work ethic and the genuine care for your audience. I'm an old hat and you still do enough to be relatable that i can understand. Appreciate the effort!
I've rebuilt the carbs on a GS650L, also a 4 cylinder. The diaphragms/boots under the top caps were hard to figure out as a problem. Hold em up to the light and if you see holes the cheap temporary fix is to apply a thin layer of finger nail polish to fill the holes. Not too much to make em brittle.

I got my license and a GN125 for my 14th birthday in 1992. Since then I’ve had a couple of 650 and 750 Nighthawks, and a BMW K75 (how I learned jetronic) and a R1100RTP.
Sometime I wonder if my folks were trying to get rid of me. J/K. My dad was an ag pilot and he wanted me to come work the load pit after school.

Dude as a 1998 baby (I know I’m still “young” as they say) but I hated hearing that… I started kindergarten in 03 and as a now 26 year old I hate it. As another 6’5”ish feller you know my pain when you always adjust the passenger side seat before getting in your friends car and your knees still hit the dash. Then later driving they say” man you can scoot that seat back “ and you say” already did and always do.” You know what comfortably means!!!

Those carbs are tuned to the back flow of those mufflers. Have the carbs cleaned and tuned if you make modifications

I still think the 2 door is dope. Having owned a 2 door,sport side, short bed truck. All the extra interior space is a huge bonus. But getting a second option for a GIVE AWAY makes me like the channel even more!
Cleet you’re such a genuine and honest guy. Caring about your fans more than your own money shows a lot and it’s awesome to see you’re going above and beyond to try and make people happy and enjoy what they have. You could have easily just taken a loss on the giveaway and waited till the next one but instead you gave people what they wanted instead of just saying screw it it is what it is.
You're contradicting yourself. You said he cares more about the fans than his own money, and then followed it up by saying he could've just taken a loss, which implies he's ensuring that he makes money. I'm not saying he doesn't care about his fans, bc obviously he does, but these giveaways are to make money. There are people who buy merch who normally wouldn't bc they're hoping to win the giveaway and people who buy more merch to get more entries. Losing a portion of those people bc they're not interested in the prize could have a huge effect on the entire merchandise giveaway process. He made it clear when talking from a marketing perspective about the funnel that this was a financially motivated decision.

He could’ve given away the barely running Chrysler 300 and his giveaway would’ve generated roughly the same revenue. There’s obviously going to be a little more excitement around a more expensive truck, and while it will generate more revenue, it wouldn’t be proportional to what he spent. Obviously giveaways are meant to make money, but there’s a difference between milking your fans for every penny they have for an item that isn’t really worth it, and genuinely trying to give your fans something cool and worthwhile.
Edit: for those who don’t believe people will spend insane amount of money for something unique associated with a UA-camr, WD sold Ferrari pieces for a total of almost $170k. People have also sold dirt. Keep that in mind.

@ThatGuy-nv7cx I'm well aware. WD sells shredded pieces of everything. Cleetus sold grass. However, that's a little bit different. They sell it as limited supply and it's still a money grab, but it's not a $5 shirt for $35, or a $200 Lego leroy. Next time, look at when Cleetus holds a shirt up during a merch plug and there's light behind it. You can see it's thin material for the most part. He knows that he sells way more merch by giving away a high-end item as opposed to a 2006 Kia. It's like the lottery. Sales are much higher when you can win a billion dollars. After someone wins the billion, sales are way down when it's "only" 90 million. It's the same tactic. You have to keep in mind that his profit margins on merch must be large enough to pay for the prize and make enough money for the giveaway to be worthwhile. He could easily sell the shirts for $15 or maybe less and not have a giveaway. So people are getting scammed to a certain extent. They're paying a lot of extra money for a slim to none chance at winning the prize. However, if that's what they're willing to do, whether it's to win the prize or just to support Cleet, that's up to them. It's just that I have seen people say they're broke, but they're going to spend what they have in hopes of winning, which is sad. I actually saw a person say that were spending everything bc they thought winning was their last chance before giving up on life. Sorry for the long-winded response. I just wanted to be as clear as possible.
@@James-vn8zb your lottery analogy makes sense when the prize is only about the money, but it’s not the same when UA-camrs give away items that hold special value or memories. For example, demolition ranch has given away many cheap cars in the past, but since they were in a lot of videos or held sentimental value to the channel, people went wild. Keep in mind that the profit margins from the merch specifically do not have to cover the costs of the giveaway. 150k+ *profit* is a lot to make on merch in such a short time. He can still do the giveaway at a loss and still come out ahead due to how many videos he makes on the truck. The real money isn’t what he’s profiting from the merch, it’s the extra videos and eyes on the channel that’s driving the long term profit.
I think the 2 door is the coolest thing ever! Definitely need the extra leg room.

Personally, I like the 2 door TRX wayyyy more than the 4 door. The entire point of these giveaways is to give away one-of-a-kind, unique vehicles. And absolutely nothing about a boring, regular traffic, 4 door TRX screams unique. I really don't think the haters understand just how much more fun a high HP, short wheelbase offroad beast truly is

The Cleet & Squirrel stuff will never get old. I could watch one of these videos every day.
I’ve owned 3 of those. Every single one had a blown diodes in the regulator rectifier when I bought it. People park them because of that. Easy fix, then the charging system works. It gets too hot in the south and the heat blows the diodes. Rig an air duct up to the regulator to give it airflow and the bike will run for another 30k miles!
Been a fan since 1320, Cleetus, you're the man. I haven't been able to watch every day because life, but this makes me so happy. I have rode an 80 model gs1000gl for a couple years now. I love this bike, 10k clutchless shifting, 7500 miles, and 1 dead deer later and I still daily this girl.

Replace both tires. Old tires are slick. Also, go through the brakes before you ride it. Odds are the pistons are seized in the calipers. You can soak in penetrating lubricant, then force it out with shop air (just aim it into a box with towels they can come out with some force.). Put some new seals in the calipers and you should be nearly there. Old Japanese bikes are reliable and easy to work on. No surprise that it fired right up!
Also, get a JIS screwdriver. Those Phillips heads aren’t Phillips heads. You will strip them out. Vessel makes good ones. It will become your favorite screwdriver!

I like the 2 door. You’re exactly right on why the B pillar is the way it is. Plenty of single cabs are that way.
I like the gloss black idea. But a 2nd idea.... wrap it red, throw some exhaust stacks in the back, and make the TRX a tribute to the 1978 Lil' Red Express...

I rebuilt a 1979 Suzuki GS1000 some years ago. It was a blast to ride. It has about 90 HP. It is NOT for an inexperienced rider. That being said, HELL YEAH BROTHER!!
About that L model -
In 1979 Suzuki introduced even a custom version of the GS1000E called GS1000L. It had same mechanics as the GS1000G but had high handlebars, stepped seat, leading axle front fork, smaller fuel tank (15 l/ 4.0 US gal) and short cut silencers. 19-inch wheels.
The GS1000L was manufactured during 1979 and 1981.

That is quite a bit of horsepower for 1979. My 2000 Honda CBR929RR was 125 hp stock, but it weighs about 200 lbs less. 😂

I was a motorcycle mechanic and service manager in the 1970s and 1980s. I still love to work on motorcycles and would love to restore something like this.
I am also a motorcycle mechanic. The way that they treated this poor bike. Almost everything that they did was wrong. That’s not how you try to restore a vintage motorcycle. The last thing that they should’ve done was try to get it running before a long list of things that need to be gone through. I can’t believe they towed it on a tow truck stinger. Super dangerous.

My favorite bike is my carbureted GSX-R ... Mainly because I can do everything myself on it still lol whenever my 2022 GSX-R 1000 finally has an issue I'm sure I'll have to take it in if it has anything to do with the fuel system other than a bad injector

Not gonna lie I wasn’t really a fan of it at first but now after seeing it with the black vinyl on the b piller and sitting next to the 4 door I really think the 2 door looks so much better. I finished fixing my dad’s 1981 GS750L before he passed from cancer. Always think about the fond memories on such a great machine. Best feelin set bikes out there.

USE THE FACTORY JETS! Clean them out good, use all the seals/o oring’s/gaskets from the kits! Motorcycle tech for 10 years, you’ll thank me later 😂 I definitely cringed at this, but I deal with people bringing me these exact bikes for a safety on the daily… I get the excitement 🤘

@@YetiMotorsports 😂 they'll learn quick about the venturi and Factory airbox. I have 78 gs 750 that runs great. You can get away with different pipes and air filters but you better be good at carb syncing and jetting

The idea is cool the execution was not, should have made the doors longer so the b pillar didn’t look so goofy.
I think it's the styling that makes it look goofy. The 6' tall hood, enormous, bloated body with a small cab looks a little funny.
I do like a short cab though - I've got a short cab ranger, and no regrets. I haul stuff, and use my bed for truck shit. backseats plenty large for the dogs.

Yeah the B pillar wasn't even that bad and the extra space behind the seats is totally worth it. Either to recline or just store stuff somewhere other than the footwells.

@@robertreynolds930 the two things I love the most about cleet is that in videos like the jet boat last week the first thing he does is check on George and check he wants to come again, and the fact that he genuinely reads the feedback on things like this and takes it to heart and acts on it. The most genuine person on UA-cam and you can tell the amount of butthurt rambling he cut out in editing lol, love it
Have fun tuning 4 carbs without that old-school vacuum tuner. Took me a year to find a guy to get my 83 Goldwing tuned right. And he was 80 years old.
The door looks way better with the vinyl. Im excited to see what happens with these trucks! Cleet really going above and beyond this time

After a long ride i went to gas up my 1982 Suzuki 1100gsgl from the right side of the bike and as i leaned in to insert the nozel i didnt notice that my leg leveraged up next to the exhaust pipe and when i pulled my leg back my leg skin stuck like cheese. Watch those pipes while gasing. I could set the cruise control at 90 and kick back on the seat like a recliner with my feet kicked up on the tank. They are highly enjoyable to ride very stable at speed.
I had no idea fans were crapping all over the shorty TRX... but getting a full size TRX, even if it was done as a crisis management move, has my respect, I'll go order some merch to show my support.

You guys are so hilarious.. towing the bike back was classic cleet just like the old days with the Humvee... I'm not a motorcycle mechanic but you might want to do this before you take her on the road..Carb clean and sync (crossovers leaking)
• Engine oil and filter change
• Replace front and rear brake fluid
• New Tires
• Chain service
• Clean out fuel tank
• Battery replacement
• Front forks rebuild
Don't forget brakes brakes brakes ..lol

I have a 1980 gs850. Extremely similar bike. Bought mine in worse condition and have restored and daily it anytime its not raining. This video pulled on some heart strings i hope you guys do it right. Carb rebuild and balanced with everything else needed it she will run forever

When it comes to the truck, the two door is my choice. I built custom cars and trucks in the 60's and 70's heavily modified and race cars in 80's and 90's. Chopped, channeled and lowered.
Frenched in lights, duel antennas the works. The two door ram should get lowered just a touch, wheels and tires and a candy and pearl wrap. Paint would be
cool but you could spend 10k to 15k for paint ( not practical)

Be safe brother. Get you a new SET of tires. Change your plugs/coils/wires. Fresh oil and tighten that clutch. It will absolutely be a ripper. Also, invest in a laser heat gun to tune your carbs. ( you check the temp of each exhaust pipe and make sure theyre all similar temps, quad carb tuning is a mother on a bike)
tires have a 10 year life span. Definitely need to replace both tires.
Brother there’s already a concrete pad on the back of the track that you could build some framing to hold the plane in the air for an epic view and rent it out as a box office!!!! That sheet would look so freakin cool to see helt up in the air at the freedom factory!

The amount of merch he sells more than covers the cost of both trucks. Otherwise he wouldn't have a business.

I had one of those about 20 years ago. Rode it 160 miles a day to and from work for most of a year. When it ran, it RAN. When it didn't run, well, old bikes are EASY to work on. Wish I could post pics of it here.

The Suzuki GS range was super popular in the 80s here in the UK. Common exhaust "upgrade" was an Alpha 4 into 1 system, actually reduced performance but sounded awesome 😊
