Joey, I just want to say thank you. I’m in the midst of a breakup, and I’m having a hard time. Not only because I’ll miss having that person in my life, but also because I struggle with being alone. I went to watch a movie alone this past Saturday, and at first it felt funny, but at around 20-30 minutes in I felt at peace and engulfed in the plot. My mind wasn’t wandering, or thinking about my situation, just appreciating the movie and drawing similarities to my life. You’ve helped me tremendously, if that means anything to you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Joey. You truly have a special gift
Thanks Joey for making this video. It reminded me of the movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness' and how it taught me that perseverance is the key to success and how it is important to go after things that make you happy.
A movie that is important to me, is the movie “Encanto”. I identified with Mirabel, ‘cause I’m a lot like her. Middle sister and the one that seems to be the odd one out, and never seems to be good enough. But the end also made me realize, that the things you went through, will turn out to bring you forward in your life, and that you’re worth is more then what others, even your family thinks, because you know you the best.
I love movies because they show us the conversations that we can’t have in real life, and they can turn your mood around. Just like music, it can say things for you that you can’t put into words yourself.
Society of the snow. This is based on a real story. The Director interviewed all the survivors and famlies of those who didn’t survive to make it the closest to the truth. They even filmed in the cold mountains to feel what these people felt. It’s a story of hope and unity, and it shows us we have no limits as humans , we can push further than we imagine. Beautiful message. And just so you know as an uruguayan, makes me very proud. The director is spanish but he used uruguayan and argentinan actors to keep it very accurate.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a movie that made me laugh and cry. I always go back to that movie. Inside out is always a great movie, talking about growing up and understanding that we may feel alone but we are not alone
Hi Joey. Thanks for sharing your insights on so many remarkable movies that have touched our hearts and hopefully opened a few minds. As a lifelong movie lover who also enjoys going to the theatre alone (which is NOT weird!) movies can not only be entertaining but are often therapeutic and provide us with valuable life lessons - as you expressed far more eloquently than I. I particularly enjoy films based on a true story and am also looking forward to seeing The Iron Claw this weekend here in DC. Love the content that you provide on all your platforms (with some help from Frankie and The Little Lady 🐾). Much appreciation for all your great work and thanks for helping to keep the true north strong and free! 🇨🇦 ❤️
Okay so i have two movies that have somehow changed the way I think about myself and life itself. The first one is ‘’Call me by your name’’: I’m italian and watching a love story taking place in environments so similar to the ones I grew up in made me appreciate more my country and its beauty, as if I had the chance to see it with the eyes of a tourist. The second one is ‘’Don’t Look Up’’: it suddenly made me realize the limits of human life.
Joey a movie that i fell in love with was freedom writers such an emotional rollercoaster. I truly recommend it for people who believe that they cant escape their old life. That they cant accomplish anything due to their past or race. This movie shows that anything is possible as long as you and others gain enough trust on others and be truly kind. Even if its a small little thing like just listening cab go a long way.
Just wanted to say that you really have a big impact on people, including me. 2 days ago i mutually ended a 2.5 years long relationship, which was falling apart in the last few months. Im trying to do better, i am fortunate enough that i have people around me, have a stable life already - but shit hurts like hell still.
I cherish going to the cinema alone. The movie auditorium is a sacred space, designed to let you focus on one thing only and when that one thing is a great story, the emotional catharsis can be like nothing else.
Another really cool film is "cold runnings". It can tell you a lot about how you can accomplish almost anything if you just put in the work and chase after it.
Watched all 5 movie Coach Carter : i really loved that movie and learnt a lot from it as well. Seven Pounds : with this one I always cried All in all these are great great movies they definitely changed me in some way.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has and always will be a life changing movie for me x It's the one film I can't not think about from time to time lol. I have lived my whole life being online and to see Mitty live a similar life only to be given this opportunity to break free from his own discomforts was absolutely the most inspiring thing I've ever seen x
I definitely recommend adult world 2013 It’s my favorite movie of all time it’s about a young poet trying to get published, but is having a really hard time trying to get there so she she gets a job at a adult store and meets special people. It cracks me up every time, but is also so relatable I really recommend It’s my go to when I’m having a hard time.
Prozac nation , it’s kind of a funny story , adult world 2013 , perks of being a wallflower. I watched all those movies when I was 14 going through a hard time and I am now 17 and I still love the movie so much.
A lot of movies made me realize that life is so much bigger than just going to school, getting a job, and going to family gatherings. There was a point in my life where I was so depressed. Movies and series made me fantasize about the person I could become and the life I could have. (Of course I'm still waiting on my Hogwarts acceptance letter.😅) I cannot point to one movie that changed me, but all movies I watched where I felt emotional, changed me in some way. Shawshank Redemption and the Green Mile are two of those.
Man of la mancha (1972) change the way I saw the world & myself. Growing in poverty in Puerto Rico, this movie taught me I didn't have to be a byproduct of my environment.
My go to movies that allow me to feel how i feel is watching stars wars. It might sound weird, but it always makes me feel at ease, not alone, somehow i can relate to a lot if not all of the characters. When my life stops making sense, this allows me to feel again somehow
"Intouchables" is the favorite movie of mine and my grandma. It teaches so many lessons like being kind to people, respect everyone, do not loose faith in life. We watch it together quite often and it seems like "Intouchables" became a comfort movie for us
Ratatouille, Coach Carter, and A Man Called Otto are definitely at the top of my list. I need to see Hacksaw Ridge. Oh my, going to the cinema alone is my absolute favourite thing to do. It's what I do when I'm stressed, happy, tired...or just want to unwind. Most recently I went to see Wonka and I was so absorbed in the story and excellence of Timothee bringing it to life that I didn't even forgot there were other people in the room (Your poem on Wonka was brilliant by the way). Funny thing though, I did one of these solo adventures one time to see Dog (st. Channing Tatum) and I so happened to be alone in that room. The story was so difficult that I found myself sobbing...it did help that there was no one else in the the room. Overall, it's an experience I wouldn't exchange for anything...
My top five are. Love Actually, Wizard of Oz, Diamonds are Forever, Children of Dune, and choosing a fifth one is hard…. Favourite startrek film is The Wrath of Kahn….my favourite new Bond film is Skyfall. Favourite Stephen king movie is Salems Lot and also the original IT.
@@joeykidney it's my all time favourite. Covers the different types of relationships so well. And encourages us, to quote the PM's opening monolog that "love is all around" 😊
@@joeykidney another underrated documentary/movie is “‘Jane by Charlotte “:‘Charlotte Gainsbourg films her mum Jane Birkin with such a poetic lens,it is a love portrait/letter with raw honesty…beautiful.🥴
@@joeykidneyit’s less than an hour and a half check it out when you get the chance, the most accurate depiction of a man who hates change and feels a desperate need to be loved
The Dead Poet society, I relate to neil in a weird way, I want to do a lot of things on my own and certain people don’t approve. And what I learned was its not worth ending it all because one day a great thing will happen and people still care
It's not necessarily a life changing movie of mine, but I would absolutely recoment Whiplash to anyone. I felt mixed about it at first, but it hold up for the expectations and I absolutely love it and will watch it again in some time.
My apologies folks, I assumed The Masters Of The Air was a movie from the countless trailers I watched but it has been confirmed through my DM’s that I am in fact wrong.. it is a TV show But hopefully it’ll change my life
I like Big Hero 6 because it taught me how to let go of things, even when they really matter to us. i also shed a tear while watching it.
I love that movie so much!

A Man Called Otto is so so good
right!?! I was so shocked - I went in not knowing much and left basically sobbing
Agreed. ❤
I think I’ll watch that tonight 🙂

A Man called Otto was an incredible film, so was Hacksaw Ridge. Both really hit me deep. Good to see they touched you too!
The Sandlot! It always reminds me about the value of friendship and treating people with kindness and respect.
Omg I have a painting of squints in my office - my go to movie

‘You’ve Got Mail’ is one of my top favorites. Something about the 90’s book shop owner, coffee, and New York City 😍

Percs of being a wallflower is a great movie, but the book is even better. If you haven't read it you should do it 🙃
Have a nice day
I read the book twice, don't worry. But the movie is a great movie, specially for people that don't read books 😉
