Very encouraging. Many of us view the Christian life as regulations that we follow like any other set of laws or rules. And while they are commands, Scripture is so much more interested in building character and virtue (or, in technical terms, Sanctification). And prayer is a virtue that must be cultivated like love, humility, altruism, etc.
Preach brother! I am a hopeful agnostic due mainly to listening to first person NDEs. I sometimes pray and/or talk to God. Difficult habit to break. But I see no need to break it nor escalate it, nor worry whether I am praying too much or too little. There seems to be a lot of metaphysical worries when it comes to believing one’s particular religion, holy writings and interpretations must be promulgated under penalty of eternal suffering or annihilation.
When you're having "a dry time" communicating with a friend, do you just keep on communicating the same old stuff to him? God is my friend so, it seems like there should be a little more intimacy than just expressing the same thing, to him, over & over again, hoping for some kind of "breakthrough" to happen or something "better" in the offing.
