That is definitely an older cemetery... it is always cool to learn, find and see your heritage.. cemeteare so peaceful.. imagine! I live on Central Oregon Coast and in middle of town there is 1 up on a hill that overlooks the ocean, never know it was there unless ya knew, it is pretty old. I used to go up there sometimes, why I have no clue cuz didnt know anyone, sit on the bench and look out at the ocean and just recharge and enjoy the quiet listen to the waves..

As I sat and watched tonight my emotions were running high . My Mom Faye made the best chicken-N-dumplings and fried chicken on Earth . Sadly she passed away Sept 12 of this year at the age of 85 . When you started making the chicken-N-dumplings I just started crying like a baby and had to walk away to get myself together . My Son Matthew who was killed in a accident on Feb. 25, 2000 loved to make and eat Grandma's chicken-N-dumplings as does my Daughter Reatha Marie . You see my mom was born and raised in Alabama so she learned how to cook from her big sisters who all learned how to cook from my Grandma Allen . When My mom cooked she use to use lots of lard . LOL..LOL.. When she made Southern Fried Chicken it was truly Southern Fried Chicken . One day soon I hope to meet you( I own a small sound Company in Redding , CA) and we could talk about our boys . River , Tommy and Matthew . Thanks for Sharing .

Backroads are the absolute best! My grandparents and many other generations are buried in a small country cemetery. Near us, there is a very old Jewish cemetery that you would never know existed had you not known the history of the area and the land. When my grandfather was in very poor health, my dad would take him on long drives in the countryside. He would tell my dad about what used to be in the area when he was growing up. Those stories are priceless treasures passed down from our elders. They fascinate and intrigue me. Wishing you all of the best. Your family makes me smile every time I watch the family time spent together.

It so great that you could find your relatives grave sites. The extended side of my mothers family graves have all been lost. They were in Alabama and the cemetery was removed for building of a strip mall. We were never notified so when I went to fing my great grand parents graves I couldn't.

I am 48 and I am the youngest of my siblings. My paternal Grandfather, not my Great Grandfather...was born in 1896. I never knew my Paternal Grandfather he passed away in 1966 before I was born. That sure does look good! Reminds me of growing up on the farm & having Squirrel n Dumplings every fall when squirrel season rolled around. We pretty much made them the same way, minus the carrots.
I use the same recipe minus carrots for my chicken and dumplings. My mom taught me the same way. We do use chicken broth instead of water to start with and it’s awesome!! Family favorite!
