When I bought my property ten years ago it had a three acre pond on it that had a ton of turtles in it. The pond had been there twenty years prior with no issues at all. I think your trap and some 12 or so floating planks with them hanging a foot or more over the inside of the trap. the theory is as the turtles come up the planks the back ones might push the front one in to the trap and 4 or 5 feet into the water .. As you may know muskrat love walking on floating things. So a piece of 2X4 or a post with hollowed out flat spots so you could set a small leg hold traps on with arms nailed so it floated . The idea is the muskrats gets on the float walks into the trap jumps in the water and the trap chain nailed to the floater will drown it . Painted Turtles and Red Eared Sliders in large numbers in small ponds are actually more damaging than the snapping turtles. Not only do they eat a lot more food pound for pound, but they also make their nests closer to the water, causing more erosion and in warmer areas sometimes breeding multiple times each year, increasing the damage to the surrounding areas, as well as digging multiple false nests before actually laying their eggs.
Got any scientific data to back up what you are saying....of course you dont because any studies that have been done find the opposite. Turtles for the most part scavenge the dead and dying thereby improving the health of the pond by protecting it from disease. Their activities improve the fertility of the pond from pruning overflowing water plants to distributing seeds (notice how their diets revolve around plants more than meat) right through to their poop providing fertilizer. Fish eat alot more baby turtles ever year than turtles eat healthy fish. And who stocks their ponds with fish eggs anyway....most people use fingerlings or bigger. And the biggest eroder of pond banks is human activities, most turtle nests are made far from pond banks....up to a mile or more for many species...to avoid the threat of flooding, reduce predation from pond hunters and presumably prevent too much inbreeding. Finally, most people are thrilled by herons and such in their ponds and all they eat are fish of all sizes...and of course baby turtles. Need to walk along the edge of the lake, within 200 meters of the water and find the turtle nests. That would be a big way to eliminate them. I found this, online: “Females prefer soft, sandy soil with good exposure to the sun for their nest site. Nests are dug with the turtle's hind feet, usually within 200 meters of water. The nest is no deeper than 10 to 12 centimeters. The females will lay 2 to 30 oval, soft shelled eggs.”
He might just not have the time set to the right time on his trail cams. I don’t on a lot of mine because why would I. And also his scope cam is the right time so yeah.
That trap he used for the beaver has a peddle on the bottom that needs to be stepped on so the door of the trap will close and the turtles won't hit it or won't weigh enough to set it off.
Turtles don't go to the bottom of the pond and just walk. They swim until they get to where they are going. You need to walk on the bottom lever to set the trap. It's really not a big deal. I wasn't trying to prove anyone wrong. I just know what I am dealing with. I have set those traps many times. And if it does work, you are catching 1 turtle at a time, so it's probably not that efficient.

He might just not have the time set to the right time on his trail cams. I don’t on a lot of mine because why would I. And also his scope cam is the right time so yeah.
One of my trail cams still thinks it 2018
Dude, that means nothing. A lot of the time when we set our trail cams we don't even change the year.
He’s talked about it before in one of his videos about it being off 👍
Take a deep breath.
Turtles never infest anything. I like turtles.

SAVE THE TURTLES !
You should let the trap you had for the beaver sink and put bait in it for turtles
That trap he used for the beaver has a peddle on the bottom that needs to be stepped on so the door of the trap will close and the turtles won't hit it or won't weigh enough to set it off.
@@mikeszabo9222 the big turtles probably could
@@mikeszabo9222 well squirrels can and I’m sure they don’t weigh as much as a turtle
@@mikeszabo9222 yeah but they could smell it and swim down and you could stick the bait into the bottom of the trap
