Episode 4: Katerini & Platamon Castle
In Greek mythology, Olympus is the home of the Greek gods, and the mountain has exceptional biodiversity and rich flora. It has been a National Park, the first in Greece, and it is also a World Biosphere Reserve. This alone should be enough for you to choose to visit it. Again, bad luck struck us, and we managed to find ourselves in the middle of Olympus Marathon 2024 with roads full of people, cars, and police, and even some rest area and roads closed. From there we went to Katerini. First time we went there, as we remember, it was lively city with many people. This time it was not that lively. Actually, there was hardly anyone on the street. There was again spooky feeling with empty riverbeds. We counted at least three on our way to Katerini, with bridges and signs of non-existent river.
