Ajahn Brahm you give me sanity in an insane world. As an Autistic, I help my elder mother (I'm 40) ad my neurotic Aunt of which my cousin (48) a nurse practitioner refuses to and would rather place her in a nursing home. My patience are tested daily, yet knowing I'm not alone through men like you and seeking spiritual enlightenment & guidance means everything to me. Thank you!! You're like my now deceased Pepe to me!!

The mind states Ajahn Brahm describes for managing pain are not attainable by most people. According to the Visuddhimagga, it is literally one in a million. You will have to experiment. I have chronic hip pain, and I switched from a cushion to a meditation bench several years ago. Use whatever works. How you manage pain depends on what causes it. I use a TENS device (), which uses electrical stimulation. During meditation the effect is actually soothing, and because it is rhythmic, the sensations tend to fade into the background or even disappear. But I would suggest using whatever helps. During meditation, as Ajahn Brahm says, try to avoid the aversion to the pain. That just makes it worse. Either go inside the pain, or find a spot on the body that is experiencing pleasant sensations and focus your attention there. In the latter case you can try to spread those pleasant sensations to the rest of the body.

Meditating to New Age music with a very slow cadence can be hypnotic. It may help.

Have you ever lived in a Buddhist desert... the American Midwest! Buddha lives on the coasts... we have the Midwest Buddhist temple here in Chicago... but it's a travel even here... I'm a confused Buddhist understanding the different sects... lineage of philosophy... here were Shin Buddhists... I love the teachings... but I try to understand their relationship.
It seems as though Christians and Muslims have a path of learning ... but it seems a throw up with Buddhism...
A yearly schedule, like a monks routine, should be available. I wish to write observations between a Cyclist and the Middle Path... but there are so many varieties of Buddhism I can't even make an observation.
Of course, I thank and appreciate Anjan Brahm's teachings ... but I don't understand the relationship between the two Temples.
There seems to be a lack of pointing towards a scholastic path for a wayward Buddhist.
I can tell only I am a reverent student. But I have progressed beyond focusing on my feet.
I am a cyclist and a sailor... I know how to give my hands and feet love and kindness and I sail my boat and ride my bicycle with love and compassion and Breath!
Where to go now? It seems we're in a GroundHog Day repeat mode...
