They were “going strong”, called each other twins, everyone SAW the connection but had no chemistry? Probably bec he chose to continue picking the toxic person (bec he was “comfortable” with that behavior). “Liked it… but it wasn’t for me”, “I thought I wanted a relationship… but I didn’t want it because it got real” Chile I’m confused someone explain
He chose the toxic “light skinned” person. That’s where some BM see chemistry, to the detriment of his desire for a family, a sweet, sincere, nurturing woman like Lee with whom he had SOOOO much in common who wanted the same things & was young enough to give it to him, etc. But that overweight, light skin toxic, mean girl stood out to him. 🤦🏽♀️🙆🏾♀️🤷🏽♀️
You absolutely nailed it. And what explained it to me was when he was on Janelle's lives chiming in and laughing along with her to toxicity. On these interviews he has a different energt. That tells me he loves the toxic and is more comfortable with that. And to me he always looked uncomfortable with Lee but with Janelle he was in his comfort zone. Also why he didn't call her out on it. He loved it.
@marthemendo1643 everything you said, I had to tell someone who responded to my comment that Quinton shouldn't let people diminish his character that his character already has these kinks you mentioned here, there is no diminishing it
this was a great interview. from Quentin's personal history, it is very understandable how he moved on the show. Just becoming confident in himself in 2016 and previously having a need to be liked and to have a strong need for friendship explains him wanting to align with the "popular" group, although it was the mean girls and Maurier He also still has a pattern of missing out on the right one, choosing the wrong one and then ending it quickly once he realizes they aren't good for him. He just repeated his whole cycle When he said he wasn't able to go to any parties or dances and that he was lonely after his brothers left, i could tell he was lacking in socialization skills and felt abandoned There is also the fact that he saw that people had more longevity in friendships his example (15 years) than relationships (I think he said 3 years), so he is looking for his woman to have a strong friendship connection, which he perceives as more important than a relationship with him thinking maybe their relationship will have longevity. I believe Q still has abandonment issues, because his brothers operated as his friends and they had to leave him He doesn't realize, he said he felt like him and Lee were already in a relationship, which he seemed to like. However, earlier when talking about his ex or Janelle, he said he didn't like feeling like he was in a relationship. He doesn't understand, there is a difference in the "feel of a relationship" when u are with someone toxic or just not good for you even if the friendship is there He ends up having tunnel vision, because the relationship meets his friendship need, but he ignores the rest He thought he didn't need what Lee had to offer, but he absolutely did. it was something new and refreshing. i believe he still has insecurities and he wanted reassurance from Lee that he was her number one, but he wanted her to prove it in behaviors that are more familiar or similar to Janelle or his toxic ex. Plus Lee said her turning point was when he lied and said he ghosted her. That's probably when she decided to focus more on Chris I think Quentin checked out mentally once Chris claimed Lee Q has to stop associating aggressive behavior or a woman fighting for him as love that will lead to longevity. Also, all friends don't make good partners He still has a need to be liked and aligned himself with the popular group even though they were toxic, therefore he took the subtle approach of Lee for granted and not as meaningful Unfortunately he self sacrifices for the one who goes hard to win, but that type of woman isn't necessarily the prize. He definitely has some more healing and self reflection to do. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and i loved seeing both men so vulnerable and open. I honestly don't think men and women are so different emotionally, when we hear these honest conversations. i will say, Quinton isn't keeping it all the way real about Janelle, her and his behavior and holding her accountable. He also tried to down play him and Lee's connection when they first met until Kojo drilled him. Overall great interview Kojo was so funny with that Build a Bear Boo🤣🤣🤣 Also, Janelle and Tequila are the same. He doesn't get it
Kojo spoke facts at the end! Tequilla and Janelle were both toxic in the same...but Q described them totally differently due to his interest. He passed on Lee because they are both more chill...he does not know how to pick lol...
You want to be in a relationship without feeling your in a relationship. Say what?? 🤔🤔. He's not ready yet. Still has growing to do! Whew!! 🫣🫣😒😒. Great interview 👍
I think he meant he didn’t want it to be forced, like omg we are in a relationship with each other and we have to do this and be this way. Just my opinion.
Great interview Kojo!!! We have figured out the type of guy Q is. He wants to be the sweet one in the relationship. He wants and needs an outgoing, enegetic, fun loving woman with a sassy attitude but not as toxic as Janelle. He chose the regular shmegular unhealed toxic woman he is used to picking. Lots of them on this show have done it before. RTL is now an overproduced, drama filled reality show. No connections being made at all.
Aww. Just starting this but I love it when people claim to be kindhearted/empathetic and they actually are. It seems authentic with him. Nice guy that’s also a good guy. Edit: good for him for not conforming to traditional masculine stereotypes, especially in our community, because a lot of it is really toxic. “Male ego” and the need to dominate is actually a sign of weakness and insecurity, not strength. True leaders serve, only dictators dominate. And a strong man is a meek man. As they say, “if you think meek is weak, try being meek for a week.”
One of the most confused dudes I’ve ever witnessed when attempting to explain why he wasn’t into any women in the show. This interview was all over the place. He’s trying to convince himself. Literally. Man that has no clue what he desires in a partner. Or he does and is afraid to say what that is.
Great interview! Allowing him to speak brought out alot of honesty. I see Quinton differently after this interview. I appreciate his honesty. I reccomend he steers clear of the women he typically attracts(Janelle) and listen to that voice in the back of his mind to guide him in love. ❤ many blessings to Quinton
I watched this live while at work and had to come back to fully get into it. I appreciate that you didnt let the live chat banter disrupt the interview because it was hot 😅. Great interviewer, wish you much success in the future ❤
Oh my goodness I thought he looked timid and unhappy too on the reunion. Wonderful interview and now I understand him more. A great representation of a black man!!
Very good interview. This really helped to understand Q. From my perspective Q needs to sit on the bench for a longer period of time and go see the lady. He has a lot of growing up to do! His self awareness is lacking. I know he feels like he gained his confidence in 2016 but the self assurance is not there. He has that good guy vs nice guy thing going on. See how he felt like it would make him less of a quality guy if he corrected Janelle’s behavior. Also this whole thing about “i don’t want my relationship to feel like a relationship” is really weird! It needs to be explored with a therapist of why he wants the philia type of love in a relationship but not one full of intimacy and romance.
Yeah you are right. There's a lot of relationship issues he needs to work on. He was a late bloomer for one, has abandonment issues for two, and he's unaware of his pattern of picking toxicity in partners for three. I think Kojo helped him realize that during this interview. I hope he rewatches it and sees the patterns and truths that came to light abt himself during this interview. And Kojo's closing statement abt him at the end was spot on.
2:14:08 this dude made every excuse for Janelle and I honestly think she has this disciplinarian/mommy thing over him. The fact that even while explaining Janelle he doesn’t sound sure of himself is truly sad. He actually needs a lot of healing but the sad part of it is he lacks confidence in his ability to lead and be direct so he chooses not to be especially when it comes to strong willed women like Janelle.
He sounds like he is uncomfortable with receiving true admiration/ love … seems like he operates from a space where he feels like it should be earned / worked for . But after you’ve won it over then what you eventually want the Lees
Same girl! I was like I don’t get Quinton’s appeal on the show but this lighting must be working cause I can’t take my eyes off of him. Mmm mmm mm mm mmmm
Kojo you have a way of bringing out the best in the people that you interview, which often leads to your viewers changing their minds about the individuals. This interview makes me give Q a little more grace now. The thing about him that bothers me is that he contradicts himself and doesn’t hold Janelle accountable for her behavior. God bless you Kojo, great interview ❤
This was by far one of the more challenging interviews I’ve seen on Black Book. It’s obvious the host was struggling with pushing Quinton to be open, honest, and vulnerable. Quinton is obviously guarded and keeping things surfaced level. This happens often in interviews when the guest are hiding and holding back information to allow the viewers to know them. It lacks truth and vulnerability. Quinton doesn’t appear to have made any real connections with the intentions to go beyond the show. He either wasn’t Intersted in love or struggling with something internal or it appeared to be more about being on TV.
I didn't get that vibe, if anything, Quinton was honest and open about his perception of himself I. The first half of this interview. There have been challenging interviews before, like Charese, Sampson, Justice and Blake from Miami season, Zadia and Aj from Houston Seasons and I'm sure I can't remember others
@@Rhenadhis Agreed. Q was actually pushed by Kojo to be more honest and actually revealed a lot more than he has in other interviews I've seen of him. I think Q actually had different energy (more mild) in this interview than when he was on them lives with toxic Janelle but I think it's bec he knew he was gonna have to be honest with Kojo. But I do agree that he def wasn't bearing it all, nobody will do that for the Internet but Kojo did get him/prod him to be more honest and I think this is the most Q gonna give to the world. Overall, he's a good guy just not good at choosing who to date. He def needs more healing. He's a late bloomer with some abandonment issues.
Great interview Koj!!!! Q is a stand up guy from what we saw this season & in this interview ♥️💯🙌🏽 A true Aries ♈️ a lot of what he said I couldn’t agree more. And Honestly Janelle needs to be the one to hold Janelle accountable . She grown. Thank you Q for being you !
Totally agree with Janelle needs to be the one to hold herself accountable but there is room for her man to hold her accountable when they are in a relationship. Human beings were not made to do life alone, iron sharpens iron
@@Rhenadhis Yes you’re absolutely right . People who are out of order like that sometimes need someone to step in and say your wrong, especially her “man” I do agree with you on that & thank you ♥️ I guess because Janelle act like she got it all together it’s hard to understand how she dont see her own faults.
2:11:13 this whole answer shows me exactly what I always thought about Q…he cowers. I know may sound like an insult but I’m not trying to do that. It’s not just that he doesn’t like confrontation, he cowers when it occurs which is why he was attracted to Janelle. She runs towards confrontation and will speak on other’s behalf to even create more of it.
I love how you asked him questions!!! I think he is scared of Janelle. He has too many excuses for her. In that scenario when Kat gave her opinion Janelle said something smart and Kat responded about her attitude etc.
Quinton sounds like he either wants to be “ FRIENDZONED “ FOREVER, or Bestfriend’s with his significant other. But just GET IT TOGETHER Q. IM ROOTING FOR YOU ❤🎉
Interview was good. I just think Quinton needs to take time to mature alittle in regards to relationships. Nice guy but needs to work on himself more because he is all over the place.
My question for Q would be, why was he dating so many women who did not require anything from him? 🤔 It sounds like he was choosing women who fit his mental/social etc status at the time.
1:32:44 I'd love to hear this lady's side and her take on this. Although I haven't watched this season I'm calling 🧢 on this guy! I could be wrong but I just get disingenuous about a few things about him that I gathered just from this interview!
@littleblackbook91, This interview just went left to me 😮 Q, are you saying there’s a gentlemen agreement about who was or would connect with the ladies? If so, I find this distasteful behavior. The women believe this show is about true connections, not being passed on like a relay match. 😳🥴😡Disappointing 🤬
RQQ to the Ques! 🐶 Damn…me and Q have the same name story. I share a first name with my Dad but we have different middle names, so technically I’m not a Junior. But I’ve always gone by my middle name. My moms idea, and I think her for it everyday 😂.
Q is full of it about the breaking up. He was on the show talking about making babies and he’s ready for marriage. Only in the end to tell Janelle he doesn’t want to date. Why not keep dating but not force it into an instant relationship. And I don’t believe him at all about the Red thing. She never even corrected him. Like sir you don’t have to be mean but you can stand up for yourself.
This is sad. He needs therapy to understand why is he attracted to the same type of people. I feel that the company we keep says a lot about you. Maybe he is more like Janelle than we know. Lee would challenge him to grow and be a better person. Or he may like being “the good guy” helping his partner to be better. Whatever, his loss.
So he thought Chris will pick up his slack for dealing with Lee instead of deading the situation. I’ve seen other men from previous seasons handle that type of situation better. Also, going with something familiar and not the new fresh way shows his wanting toxicity
4:30 Wait, he IS looking more and more like a colorist. I'm wondering if the reason he's saying Cape Verde is b/c so many of them are biracial or multiracial from heavy recent admixing with whyte Portuguese people😂
He still have insecurities and just happy to be with a woman that want him. That's why he liked Janelle. Also her being like his ex... Toxic but like a friendship. Janelle definitely is insecure
If Quinton was healed, he would’ve avoided Janelle because she is similar to his ex. But instead he went for the same thing and still doesn’t recognize it. Plus for him to say Taquilla was not self aware has me baffled. Not because it’s not true. Because she isn’t self aware. But because Janelle is also not self aware. Janelle is just maybe a step below Taquilla. It’s also making me side eye him because Lee said he made a comment about her being the darkest person he ever dated. So is it ok for Janelle not to be self aware because she is light skin verses Taquilla who is darker??
I can some all this up… Quentin did like most guys on the show, he wanted to keep more than one girl for show purposes. This is why the relationships don’t last right after filming ends.
The interview was going extremely well, to a point, I was starting to think differently about Q UNTIL Kojo mentioned Janelle. Yeah no. He is under her control and it’s sad. I hope he works on that weakness before entering a relationship because the wrong female will destroy him. That ex of his would look like an angel. Get help Q because overall, you seem like an awesome man that can make a great husband and father. Hopefully you’re reading this and know people are rooting for you. We all have mistakes. This is not a personal dig.
It changed for him, cause he was scared of Janelle, and Janelle just wanted him because she wanted to.proof to Les them that she is going to win- mean girl energy
So because he's a sweet person, he needs a mean girl to balance him out? That's what I got from his comment regarding him and Lee both being sweet peoole. Maybe that's why he prefers mean girls. His chemistry must be better with mean girls and that's what's most familiar to him.🤷🏽♀️ Going on dates is not fighting for someone. And things were good between him snd Lee up til the house because he was able to keep Janelle and Lee separate. Once they got in the house Janelle bullied her way in and made sure no other woman had space to cultivate a relationship with Q and he was too uncomfortable/scared to fight back.
I understand what Quinton is saying about the fun banter that was missing with Lee. I felt like we didn't get to see fun Lee. She seemed kind of boring frfr. Then Janelle seemed to really keep Q on lock. He also never checked that mean girl persona from Janelle. The other thing is Janelle was too old for Quinton as well as Aries so he needed a younger connection. Maybe she just wasn't there for him. This show seems to be for drama not couples making connections like it was in the beginning. I hadn't watched since season 2 or 3. It's quite messy now so no thanks to future viewing, it's a waste of my time! Great interview Little Blackbook 91, but I could've did without the first part of this wasn't interesting IMO.
Quinton did not answer Kojo’s question. Kojo was asking why he didn’t check Janelle and tell her that he didn’t like how she went about the conversation. Quinton going all around the world talking about let’s just move forward and not argue. It’s not arguing if you are telling someone you are dating what you don’t like when it comes to the way they react to conflict. I seriously doubt that he ever addressed it because if he did, she would’ve stopped. But she didn’t. And he sat there every time and let her.
Kojo hands down the best channel. Damn we need to get you to do reunions 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽100k on lock 🔐

I bet you he wasn't ready for Janelle, The "it's me not you" excuse was the safest way to get away from Janelle.

He did say that he just came into his confidence recently and then it took a hit with his previous relationship. There is work still to be done. He also likes toxic if it comes with chemistry so there is that
It’s familiar and he’s in the early phases of healing
Koji 🎉 your assessment at the end was on point. He makes excuses and needs to think with his brain 🧠 He still needs healing.
He got what he wanted, had his fun, and wanted out. He’s ready for a relationship just not with Janelle. A man knows what he wants and will know once it shows up. If he wasn’t ready for a relationship’ then would ‘Ready To Love’ be the first option before going through the healing process ? Hmm.

@@realestatebykemigurrrrlll u ate. Sorry u said it so perfectly. U articulated it to the T. Yup i agree
@marthemendo1643 everything you said, I had to tell someone who responded to my comment that Quinton shouldn't let people diminish his character that his character already has these kinks you mentioned here, there is no diminishing it
He’s confused!
this was a great interview. from Quentin's personal history, it is very understandable how he moved on the show.
Just becoming confident in himself in 2016 and previously having a need to be liked and to have a strong need for friendship explains him wanting to align with the "popular" group, although it was the mean girls and Maurier
He also still has a pattern of missing out on the right one, choosing the wrong one and then ending it quickly once he realizes they aren't good for him. He just repeated his whole cycle
When he said he wasn't able to go to any parties or dances and that he was lonely after his brothers left, i could tell he was lacking in socialization skills and felt abandoned
There is also the fact that he saw that people had more longevity in friendships his example (15 years) than relationships (I think he said 3 years), so he is looking for his woman to have a strong friendship connection, which he perceives as more important than a relationship with him thinking maybe their relationship will have longevity.
I believe Q still has abandonment issues, because his brothers operated as his friends and they had to leave him
He doesn't realize, he said he felt like him and Lee were already in a relationship, which he seemed to like.
However, earlier when talking about his ex or Janelle, he said he didn't like feeling like he was in a relationship.
He doesn't understand, there is a difference in the "feel of a relationship" when u are with someone toxic or just not good for you even if the friendship is there
He ends up having tunnel vision, because the relationship meets his friendship need, but he ignores the rest
He thought he didn't need what Lee had to offer, but he absolutely did. it was something new and refreshing.
i believe he still has insecurities and he wanted reassurance from Lee that he was her number one, but he wanted her to prove it in behaviors that are more familiar or similar to Janelle or his toxic ex.
Plus Lee said her turning point was when he lied and said he ghosted her.
That's probably when she decided to focus more on Chris
I think Quentin checked out mentally once Chris claimed Lee
Q has to stop associating aggressive behavior or a woman fighting for him as love that will lead to longevity. Also, all friends don't make good partners
He still has a need to be liked and aligned himself with the popular group even though they were toxic, therefore he took the subtle approach of Lee for granted and not as meaningful
Unfortunately he self sacrifices for the one who goes hard to win, but that type of woman isn't necessarily the prize.
Overall great interview
Kojo was so funny with that Build a Bear Boo🤣🤣🤣
Also, Janelle and Tequila are the same. He doesn't get it
Maurier is a mean girl too 🤣🤣🤣
All that 💯

Spot on!!
I appreciate “Quinton” telling his story!!
Im screaming at my phone like Ghana, Kenya,Nigeria come on bro! Haha bless his heart
Kojo wanted to say Africa is a continent not a country bro! 😂
😂😂😂I thought so too
Yes he did becaue i sure did lol
Oh he knew what he meant. A lot of American say country when talking about Africa 😂😂😂 hopefully they know it’s a continent.
and then went ahead to talk about Cape Verde being in Africa? Quentin made me laugh
@Rhenadhis... So according to you, where's Cape Verde located if not in Africa? 🤔
2:26:25 WHOOOOO KOJO. You said that!!!!! You wrapped it up perfectly.
Everything you said
He seems like the “nice guy”. Something seems a bit dishonest about him. The guys seem a little messy. It would be great to hear from Lee.
That's the feeling I need got, something is off
I ❤ kojooooo
Hopefully he can host future reunions!!
He is phony I can’t take him seriously that’s all I have to say. Thanks Kojo
Oh my goodness I thought he looked timid and unhappy too on the reunion. Wonderful interview and now I understand him more. A great representation of a black man!!
Kojo,
You are one of the best interviewers. Your ability to listen, zero in on comments
and do follow ups is awesome.
Janelle needs therapy. Seems like she has some underlying issues that should be addressed in therapy sessions not on Television.
Phenomenal interview Kojo! 👏🏾 💫
1:04 Janelle reminds her of your ex because Janelle was a handful. Janelle has some deep seated issues that need to be resolved.
He sounds like he is uncomfortable with receiving true admiration/ love … seems like he operates from a space where he feels like it should be earned / worked for . But after you’ve won it over then what you eventually want the Lees
Thank you Kojo! Great interview. And again sometimes the spark just isn’t there. That was the story between Q&L. I appreciate Q telling his story!
Exactly !
Why do people look so much better in your interviews than on TV?? I never found him attractive but now I'm like, DAMN!😂😂
Right ! 🤣
😂😂😂 exactly..too much chocolate going on
Same girl! I was like I don’t get Quinton’s appeal on the show but this lighting must be working cause I can’t take my eyes off of him. Mmm mmm mm mm mmmm
Kojo you are the best! You break it down piece by piece. You are now my favorite UA-camr!
he is still young and has some growing to do...the world is so backwards these days.. a man wants a woman to fight for them .. smh
Come on Quinton. Come on. That's all I'm going to say.
I love how you asked him questions!!! I think he is scared of Janelle. He has too many excuses for her. In that scenario when Kat gave her opinion Janelle said something smart and Kat responded about her attitude etc.
💯. He was definitely afraid of her attitude.
Omg thank you for the timestamps!! I just need the show info without the background childhood stuff lol
absolutely...keep that ish silent as u have been doing
Good interview and I really enjoyed Quentin's story!
Kojo asks some GOOD questions. He really makes the person think
Perfectly stated 👏🏽
True!
My question for Q would be, why was he dating so many women who did not require anything from him? 🤔 It sounds like he was choosing women who fit his mental/social etc status at the time.
Quinton is one of the most Honest guest you have interviewed. Well done Kojo
1:32:44 I'd love to hear this lady's side and her take on this.
Although I haven't watched this season I'm calling 🧢 on this guy! I could be wrong but I just get disingenuous about a few things about him that I gathered just from this interview!
Q has the innocent voice and appeal down pack. Im so curious what this ex looked like.
Good interview💯👏🏾👏🏾🎉🎉🤩👍🏾
He’s still “afraid” to say anything that Janelle may deem negative
Q saying he wouldn’t choose Taquilla because she’s not self aware, but Janelle.. ok nvm
Lol Africa Africa ugh 54 countries Africa 😂
I believe Q and Leigh were dating in their head space, and him and Janelle were having fun and flirty while dating.
Everybody loves the Wholesome Ks 💗💚
That man went on the show for exposure lol shot out to lee for leaving .
He reminds me of Mike from the Miami season. Both from Miami and both built. But Mike was more assertive
RQQ to the Ques! 🐶 Damn…me and Q have the same name story. I share a first name with my Dad but we have different middle names, so technically I’m not a Junior. But I’ve always gone by my middle name. My moms idea, and I think her for it everyday 😂.
When are we gonna get Janelle in an interview 😫...
Janelle went from 1 to 10,000 on soooo many occasions…why did you not get the time to speak on the issue?
Great interview!! 🔥🔥🔥
Omg I can't believe I missed this!!! Bomber 😢
You didn’t miss much 😁
This is sad.
Can't believe I missed this interview. 😔
2:18 Interesting.😂
Never listen to men tell you what they want.
I am glad he realized Janelle wasn’t for him and moved on instead of wasting time on someone who was not for him.
The janelle response was all CAP. Deflecting deflecting 😂sad
Wanting to whoop somebody’s disrespectful smart mouth a- is not a lack of confidence
I can some all this up… Quentin did like most guys on the show, he wanted to keep more than one girl for show purposes. This is why the relationships don’t last right after filming ends.
Make it make since.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It changed for him, cause he was scared of Janelle, and Janelle just wanted him because she wanted to.proof to Les them that she is going to win- mean girl energy
So because he's a sweet person, he needs a mean girl to balance him out? That's what I got from his comment regarding him and Lee both being sweet peoole. Maybe that's why he prefers mean girls. His chemistry must be better with mean girls and that's what's most familiar to him.🤷🏽♀️
Going on dates is not fighting for someone. And things were good between him snd Lee up til the house because he was able to keep Janelle and Lee separate. Once they got in the house Janelle bullied her way in and made sure no other woman had space to cultivate a relationship with Q and he was too uncomfortable/scared to fight back.
Yal be wanting Janelle to be such the problem. This man wasn’t interested in the other woman period! What’s so hard to understand about that.
Kojo fishing he’s used to talking to ppl who aren’t as evolved as him Quiton did not take the bait!! Quiton is a King!!!
Um, huh, Um, huh, Um, huh…SMH. Quinton🤭

That girl had you on around her fingers. Lies lies
But Janele had a connection with red prior to Quinton
