All of these ppl are great musicians and i love Jacob but i dont think ppl undersatand that Corey is not reading the music on most of these pieces, he's playing from memory and improvisation. Tht is a whole other stratosphere of musicianship Corey Henry is a BEAST!!!!!!
Jacob may have as much knowledge as Cory, probably even more. But Cory is just better at applying that the tastiest way possible. Jacob just shows us how far music can go and he keeps surpassing his limit.
Bart Kaptein I am so in agreement. I haven't heard of these guys till I watched Harry Connick Jr. New show On NBC. I saw collier prrform and looked him up. Great show! check it out.
Many orchestras simply don't cut it with great shit like this, often just not tight enough, maybe simply through their being an orchestra (and consequently spread out across a big stage). Time can become a little elastic and where in a more classical format that is possibly kind of ok, for anything with an element of funk / groove to it can frequently prove disastrous - or at least rythmically pedestrian. So hats off to Metropole and their particularly propulsive drummer and bass guitarist for giving this so much drive in all the right places, supporting Corey's genius and making me smile. Yes, the Hammond should be a bit higher in the mix and Jacob's contributions are virtually inaudible, but otherwise a good mix and as commented by others, an impressive, effervescent performance.
Bingo, oldnoiseboy -- all your points are spot on! It's true that the huge footprint of a full orchestra ordinarily makes pinpoint timing of music like this nearly impossible. Here, the individual monitors eliminate this variable, but what a huge task the soundcheck must have been that day! I doubt that the audience heard the same mix we did. "Our" mixdown was probably done well after the performance. But Jacob and Cory were strangely low in it (especially Jacob). I hope a reworking can be done and released.
It's wrong much Jules is enjoying his job! Some of us have earthly jobs and studies! We can only watch while they have a time of their lives. Imagine, if we're enjoying this so much, how much more the performers must be loving it!
Wow! Amazing version! Thanks for share it! #BigBand
I doubt he was intentionally muted. He wasn’t featured in it anyway. And sure, he may have added something neat in between somewhere maybe, but I’m betting he didn’t.
Steve Murray Agreed my friend. The BBC says there are copyright and contract issues which only allowed 30 days free access. Take a look at the BillieJean from the same prom.
Great performance showcasing two geniuses unfortunately let down by lousy mix ... Jacob almost inaudible. Was there no mic on the piano? Engineer asleep? Unplugged cable?
Every time I listen to this I feel like somewhere on the Mediterranean coast someone is breaking into a safe of a corrupt rich old man and getting away with it.
The bass player definitely owned the show
Yes, you are totally right
His name is Aram Kersbergen
Literally played his ass off
Absolutely 💕
Just listening to this now on biiiig speakers and yup...he's The Man.
Very cool tune. Sounds like something Quincy Jones would have written for a movie or TV show..Everybody Boogaloo y'all 😂👏👏👏🔥😆 you had to be there...

Credits to the director Buckley who did the arrangements for the metropole orchestra. He is world class.
Vind ik ook Jan.
The bass guitarist deserves more credit.
Our very own Aram Kersbergen!
agree...
Ouch, this was so good it hurt. As much as I appreciate Jacob, Cory's performance was just off the scale, this man can FUNK.
Cory on the hammond will always shine so bright!
Wangseop Song same thing :)
Jacob may have as much knowledge as Cory, probably even more. But Cory is just better at applying that the tastiest way possible. Jacob just shows us how far music can go and he keeps surpassing his limit.
The bass...... thats the holy swing !!!!Top !!!
Someone called the police, because that bass player is KILLIN IT! ❤️👌
F_ Yeah
Yeah he is.....and the drummer. He is looking at the drummer like...Go ahead, I'm right with ya
@@Hyabusa40 F_Yeah !
If you consider to dislike the video, skip to 1:47 and get the finger in your face! Brilliant performance otherwise.
That moment will be for ever my "f**k you" response to anyone that annoys me! Example: eat this ua-cam.com/video/teUHOhGo31s/v-deo.htmlm47s
lol ! well observed ^ ^ @@sergioribeiro3937
I played in marching band concert band but never ever like this perfection ok
Such a great musician, this Cory Henry. My feet have to move once I hear this brilliant performance!
Bart Kaptein I am so in agreement. I haven't heard of these guys till I watched Harry Connick Jr. New show On NBC. I saw collier prrform and looked him up. Great show! check it out.
I wish there'd have been at least one shot of the flute section during their break! But this KILLED.
I don’t think people really appreciate just how good Quincey Jones was doing this period.

Think of MO as a reeeeeally big Big Band
That's our Dutch Metropole Orchestra !
Proud of it.
I am very proud too
The drummer is called Martijn Vink and everywhere I hear and see him he performs so well and exquisite
The nasty thing for me is that this was in the ONE year I couldn't go to NSJ. The best gig I've ever seen on the internet
This band is so deep in the pocket that conductor could just go home and call it a day!
No diss, this is next level!
Masterpiece!!! This instrumental music version is incredible and releases unlimited positive energy and music quality!!!
Dude, its NOT instrumental ! Are you deaf or SOMETHING ?
Cory Henry absolutely killed it!!!!
Wow, mighty performance to say the least! And that bass player adds some serious stank.
RIP Quincy Jones
YESSSS❤
The whole world needs to hear this !!!
Jimmy Smith is smiling👏👏👏👏 GO head Cory...
WOW....!!!
Fuck my life I just jumped out of my chair and starting groovin to this holy jam
how can someone, dont like this great music!
wellll not everybody have the same taste
Ouch! Whatever I was sick of - I am cured! Such class every which way. Couldn’t stop the grin here’s to 2018 :))
Snare drum as hi-hat I never did see before! NICE.

Brilliant! Kudos!❤
That sweep that Cory did at the end my god my god 🥶🥶
Best...thing...EVER!!!
Fantastic performance but....why the keys are so low in the mix? It's a shame..
Man, that's beautiful! The genius of Jones! And you guys do an amazing job...
Execellent! Cory really enjoys playing with other pianists.

Yo Quincy!!
You continue to keep making wonderful music. It's good to hear real music that's not mechanically processed .
Perfektissimo !!!
All great guys and girls!
Brilliant
The clip is back!!! deserves far more than the 2661 views it has now
That Drummer.
Love how the conductor let the orchestra go
Fantastic drummer!!! This guy is from Holland, but I can't remember his name. And Jules Buckley? On hel of an arranger!!!
martijn vink
I never thought anyone would ever cover this theme, much less blow the original out of the water. How wrong I was.
Bravo
Good arrangement
Why doesn't the city I live in right now have music like this? I am tired of all the country western and conjunto music!
Jacob's piano is a little lost in the mix. But kudos to him for being a team player. Cory is just SMOKIN'.
Why would someone mute Jacob Collier’s track?
I couldn't hear him
I doubt he was intentionally muted. He wasn’t featured in it anyway.
And sure, he may have added something neat in between somewhere maybe, but I’m betting he didn’t.
Chills!! Fire 🔥 📛 👨🚒
Superb!
This was great on the BBC proms too but got taken down for some reason.
Steve Murray Agreed my friend. The BBC says there are copyright and contract issues which only allowed 30 days free access. Take a look at the BillieJean from the same prom.
great!
This song feels like someone are trying to exchange a briefcase with secret documents and stuff gets not as easy as planned :D
corey is killin that b3, got that leslie crying for help!!!! lol.
Great!
Cory in the spirit of Isaac Hayes!
5:32 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😶😶😶😎😎😎 yo he did that like a maste,r I am speechless
This is what it must have felt like watching Weather Report live...
Now THAT is music!
Otiginal is still much better though
super
Cory Henry showed his soulful master of the hammond
booooooring
Cory is such a beast! Everyone was trying to keep up! LMAO
When i saw the post I automatically thought..... 'Eric Clapton on violin?
Tremendamente buenoooo!!!
Sensacional
Although,.... what does Jules Buckley actually do, except stand and watch his arrangement?
He is the vibe master
Even the stuffiest of old farts are bringing their vestigial funk nuggets to the surface!
1:20 Love the shot of the conductor just head bangin not conducting haha
That is his natural way of conducting the orchestra or his wive...
He was still conducting.
He just let her rip…they really didn't need him…man that rhythm section drove them all real tight!
Wicked.
Great performance showcasing two geniuses unfortunately let down by lousy mix ... Jacob almost inaudible. Was there no mic on the piano? Engineer asleep? Unplugged cable?
Guitarist fucks up big time at 1:08.
clavdig Lol!!!! Man u made me nearly die of laughter from that comment man.
5:49 even Jacob (almost) makes mistakes
Every time I listen to this I feel like somewhere on the Mediterranean coast someone is breaking into a safe of a corrupt rich old man and getting away with it.
Any one knows where can I download (buy) this masterpiece ?
I couldn't hear Jacob at all. I think I only heard him come through maybe once?
me like!!! a lot ♥
клёво
🇧🇷🇧🇷
Me when I see my mates succeding 4:10
WE GOTTA TAIL MAN...
whoops wrong thing
2words: just great
audio production team shud be fired! Didn't they watch the BBC version????
1:47
The guitarist in 1:06 is unpatient for his distortion part😂😂
if he hadn't repeated it twice, i would've thought jules buckley wrote it like that..
🌈🎶🙏
Are those headphones the Audioquest Nighthawk?
Everybody Boogaloo 😊
Man, to be the keyboardist in this orchestra. Ouch.
I dont think I heard Jacob even once. The unnamed keyboard player was turned up louder. Such a shame
It is a shame indeed that Hans Vroomans is not named as the keyboardplayer. Hereby corrected
