    That foundation is INSANE! It covered it like nothin! Very good points you made there about not going too light with your concealer (at least until you've color corrected first) and about not over blending. Those have made a huge difference in my routine. I'm sorry you've had to deal with this Emily, but thanks for making good of it and sharing with us. This is why people love you. We can always count on you to put something good and honest and HELPFUL out there.

      Natalie, I have very dark undereye circles since I broke my nose this winter, and I can totally cover it up using the Georgio Armani Master Corrector #1 Pink, and my usual concealer.Best of luck with your chemotherapy! I am a six year Triple Negative Breast cancer survivor, so I am wishing you great health, and lots of happiness in the very near future, Natalie, Sherrey in Southern Ontario.

    I could cry thinking about my melasma. Most of the hyper pigmentation has disappeared from my checks, but my upper lip still has a stain. My friends have told me to wax my upper lip because it gives the appearance of a mustache. It is so embarrassing and I just wanted to take the time to THANK YOU. Your makeup is flawless and beautiful. I can now walk around confident again and not wonder if people are staring at my lip. Hopefully more of this will disappear. Fingers crossed. Thank you.

      I have it so bad same thing looks like a mustache. I also want to cry. It has become dakrer and now my entire forehead has huge dark spots. I am ocd with sunscreen and wear hats. I changed to a non estrogen bc, didnt help. Did you actually buy this makeup? I worry it'll look too think and make me look older. I'm 29. I tried using tretnoin a form of retin-a, did nothing but make my skin dry and peel. I have never been so self conscious in my life I don't feel pretty.

      I have the same thing. Its faint, but that's almost worse because it's not obviously pigmented skin. I've had friends suggest a good waxer, I think of it whenever I talk to anyone. I think they're watching my lip. I've tried everything! I wish it would go away.

      I have the same problem of having a little melasma on my upper lip. Nobody has made a comment about it ever, but I hat it as even when I have no hair there, it still looks like I do. Makeup looks really grey and dry on my upper lips too. I'm 23 and I don't know how I got it at all, because I've never been pregnant, and the only other causes are hormones and sun exposure.

    It's sad that someone felt the need to make such a cruel comment. Thank you for sharing your skin issue with your viewers. Most of us have something we're trying to cover up. That foundation is amazing! Good one to keep in rotation for bad skin days. Lol. I definitely deal with some brown spots and the occasional hormonal "friend" or two so these tips were very helpful. Thanks for your honesty. You have been looking radiant and beautiful throughout your entire pregnancy! The person that made that cruel comment needs to first work on being kind and then perhaps proceed to watch your channel. Not to mention that this person basically unleashed her/his ignorance . EMpty vessels make the most noise !There are many that make beauty videos . I dont know you personally but I can just tell that you are a kind person . YOu've never made unkind comments to people that have insulted or humiliated you. It's always been a " thank you" or a " maybe you shouldn't or should ( as is relevant in the case). Yourbody language and presentation style make us think of you as a wholesome b eauty that is a genuinely nice person that hesitates to do blog sales ( personally speaking as you once told me ), because you worry about these being used by you and you worry about people's health. You could easily make money by selling these . Im not judging people that do blog sales by the way but rather trying to assert that actions speak louder than words . It;s not just what meets the eye but what lies deeper that makes us respect and love the person . Em , hugs to you . thank you for making these videos and particularly this video where you showed us your bare face and showed us these tips . It;s very easy to say ," oh dont bother , you're an internet celebrity ". May I add that you are human too, not a stone or a saint . You have real feelings and emotions . You expressed beautifully why you have an urge to cover up melasma marks and how you wouldnt trade anything in the world for baby Belle . You are a confident , beautiful woman with the charm and charisma of a movie star but the wholesome grace and air of a true role model !

    I've been dealing with malasma for several years now. I've never been pregnant and my dermatologist said it was sundamage. It's not o ly sun damage but skin sun protection is the most important to keep it from getting worse. I have what's called the sunstache. It comes through looking like black hair. I'm so glad you shared, because emotionally this has really been bothering me. People used to comment on my pretty skin. Now I'm embarrassed. I've tried everything I could think of, nothing worked. They were all the things you said not to do. I will give your suggestions a try. Thank you so very much.u

    As a melasma sufferer, also primarily under the eyes, I totally sympathised with this video and found it so helpful. I've been to countless dermatologists and private clinics for my skin in the UK and the treatment has actively made it worse, let alone the amount of money on products and cosmetics. It's something you can't really treat, it just appears and then you have to learn to live with it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

    You know what? Emily is my favorite beauty guru. She focuses on drugstore AND high end, not one or the other. She explains clearly what she does, and how she does it. Emily gives truthful, honest, sometimes harsh but needed reviews. She interacts with us, and she shows us herself, her true self. She is professional with her videos (even though her auto focusing bugs me when it never focuses sometimes! :P), and she makes sure to do a variety of videos. She doesn't copy the normal videos that others do like the "morning routine" or whatever. Though I have absolutely no similarities with Emily, the products she recommends are always great and amazing to work with, and she never just gives ONE option, she gives many. She is the perfect example of an amazing UA-cam beauty guru. She is doing everything right, in my opinion. Great job, Emily, and thank you for these videos.

    I am so glad I found this video! I never had one second of morning sickness and maybe two tiny stretch marks.. however, after my second child, I didn't recognize my face in the mirror anymore. It has not gone away, after seven years. I never needed foundation before and I've been searching the wrong words (I know now), I've been watching videos on covering dark circles and acne and redness... None of which helped me. So here I am, a 40 year old makeup-dummy! But tonight I changed my word search and found you! I'm so grateful! I cannot wait until morning to go shopping for that amazing foundation, some concealers and brushes... Thank you! 😭 PS-you are beautiful with or without your makeup! I'm dealing with the exact same issue, in the very same areas. I got mine after a bad sunburn, and like u it started small & got bigger over the years. I also use the Estee Lauder Maximum Coverage, as an all over foundation & sometimes as a concealer in those areas over a light foundation. thanks for the tips, i can definitely relate, please let us know if you find any other products that work.. I will be starting a round of Carotenoids with high doses of vitamin C this week, these are supposed to heal melasma & skin damage from the inside out, hope it works

    • @TheFeyRa
      @TheFeyRa 10 років тому +1

      If you use the Maximum Coverage as an all-over foundation, how do you stop it from gathering around the pores and transferring? Setting powder doesn't really help with the latter problem..

    • @Mysweetreality_
      @Mysweetreality_ 10 років тому +5

      TheFeyRa the key seems to be moisture with this foundation, I use my suncreen moisturizer then elf setting spray before applying the foundation & always use my fingers to get it in all the crevices of my face, I also do small sections at a time like 1 cheek, then my chin, then my forehead ect. Don't put it all over cuz it dries so fast it will not spread evenly & it will dry & emphasize pores, dry skin ect. I don't use any setting powder, I add blush then bronzer then elf setting spray again soak ur face & let air dry, it looks flawless & lasts all day, haven't noticed too much transfer, hope this helps :)

I use a Beauty Blender to apply it and before I put it on I put a very light layer of loose powder then also powder lightly on top to set it. No transfer and no gathering for me, stays very smooth. First time I used it I used way too much and it just looked cakey but I learned from that haha

    Thank you so much for doing this video!! I began getting melasma from a new birth control a couple of years ago and I cannot tell you how much time and money I've spent on makeup in that time... Each time I go to Ulta or Sephora, I hope I might find someone to help me with products who knows anything about this annoying and very frustrating skin issue, but I haven't met one yet... Though it looks like I'm operating an underground makeup testing facility in my bathroom, surprisingly, I have not yet tried any of the products you mentioned here and can't wait to give them a try! And extra thanks for sharing two really practical ways to try this! Cheers!

    What amazing class!! While your melisma deserves to be covered, it indeed has exposed beautiful strength of character! You obviously are a naturally beautiful woman, who most likely values that truth. That in itself would make the melisma more of a "ouch". However, as a mother of 8, I know ( you most likely do as well by now) that a child is the 1 thing that would make any side effect worth it!! I absolutely loved this vid . You covered every aspect of the problem with all the necessary details and specifics. Thank you thank you. No doubt, the integrity I saw with your handling of your detractor and sharing (for our benefit) your naked face--- you will be an amazing mother! You have, I'm sure a blessed husband and children ! I'm subbing.

    Emily- Apply licorice root extract every evening to those spots. (I buy a good quality one for very reasonable price on Amazon) It is a documented skin lightener, and is in many expensive, high quality skin care products. (So pay less and get the far more power by using the extract.)
    I was really amazed how quickly it worked for me. It doesn't really every completely sink into the skin, so you do want to rinse your face when you wake up. Just gently rub it in in the evening as much as possible. It does also have a strong licorice scent (obviously) to be aware of. I personally dislike the scent but I don't care because of the good things it does for skin. I can't imagine it not working well for you, hope this helps! :-)

      Someone would have to be an idiot to think she was hit. Her skin discolorations are brown not blue or black. Some people are just ignorant. As I said in another post, don't worry too much about the discolorations. Mine went away about 3 months after having my son. Yours will probably go back to pre-pregnant status since you had a little discoloration there originally. I didn't go through all the comments, so someone may have already said this, but here goes. I got melasma quite young, with no pregnancy involved. It started about where yours did. It spread pretty quickly and quite far out from the corners and down on to my cheeks, like a butterfly mask only not pretty). I tried to cover it as best I could (this was about 30 yeas ago) and otherwise ignore it. Then I started hearing the same 'who gave you a beating' comments, so I went to the doctor and asked for help. There is a simple, topical Rx application that cleared it up (and in my case, it didn't come back) quickly, without bleaching agents or anything like that. The generic name for it is Hydroquinone. It felt like water dabbing it on, no tingling, stinging, any odd sensation at all. Strangely enough, it's light scent smelled to me like your hair smells in the sun on a really warm day (if that makes any sense at all). It does suggest you try a patch test just to check for allergies, but other than that, there are no scary side effects listed. It was such a relief for me to get rid of the melasma.

Happiness is one of the most beautiful features in people, and ever since you announced you were pregnant, you've been glowing with joy. That Estee Lauder foundation blew my mind away! I once asked you on BBlive if you had ever tried the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer and you said no, but that is one I still recommend. Hi Emily, ¡what a good tutorial!, you are a beautiful woman with or without correcting your spots, and also compassionate, because you want to help people with this kind of aesthetic problem, I like the results of the first makeup more than the second one, because the last covers less the spots, but on the other hand is more lightweighted for a daily makeup, I´d probably add a thin extra layer of foundation on spots before the powder and the secret is to tap, tap, tap... not dragging the products on the troubled area. Thanks for your generosity, you´re a sweet person with a wonderful soul😊😘

    I'm so glad you made a video like this! I'm 30w4d pregnant, and I've started to notice a little discoloration on top of my cheekbones, basically the same area you have it on. It's very minimal, but I'm pretty insecure about it. I think it started developing in the beginning of my third trimester, so seeing what works for you or anyone else is very helpful! I've been able to get away with using my L'Oreal True Match, and just applying a little extra over the darker spots and using my regular under eye concealer, and it seems to be working so far. But I'm glad to know some tips and tricks in case it starts to grow and become a little more noticeable! I love that you did a video like this! Videos on beauty during pregnancy are some of my favorite - especially since I'm a first time mommy and need all the help I can get! I love learning new tips and tricks for expecting women. Would love to see you do an update on this for melasma, discoloration on mature skin with lines. Fabulous video.

    Thank you for this video, so helpful to know what products actually work on covering melasma.I just turned 40 and for the last few years I've developed sun spots every summer around my eyes. I now try to use a broad spectrum SPF daily. Last summer I developed melasma on my cheekbones which really upsets me sometimes. Yes getting it in perspective helps, it's not a big deal compared to serious illnesses, but melasma can affect your self confidence. I'm so happy to know of a good product to use, I've never used heavy make-up so I really appreciate the tips!

      Helena Monique Clarke if they had- I would have never used it. My gyno said I should go on it due to extreme period pain. I would have rather used strong painkillers once a month for the rest of my life than have this hideous marks all over my face FOREVER- i used to have flawless skin- never again since the pill. So many other side effects.... so NOT worth it

      That pissed me off to when my doctor never told me but I researched it myself and a aesthetician told me the same thing.
