Hi Paul, I have said this before.... since 2004 I have paid my bank trust on my own..... got my Permament Residents on my own....got a Mexican Drivers License on my own.... got a Cell phone on my own... got my RFC (thanks to you Paul) on my own...... I actually got a Bi-Directional Electric Meter for my solar system thru CFE on my own..... BUT let me tell you, I have WASTED so much time, money, gas and of course headaches that Iam not sure it was worth it. Looking back it would have been better money spent to have someone take care of it.... Thanks again Paul

I have always done everything on my own here, as well as most of the expats I know. I never found any of it to be overwhelming or overly confusing. But for those that can’t be bothered or have money to spend, going with consultant services might be their best option. I’ve gone through every process imaginable from tourist permit, to temp/perm, to housing, to residency, to setting up utilities, to CURP/RFC to work permit, to driver’s license, to INAPAM,to citizenship.

In the past 13 months my wife and I have obtained our residency, CURP, RFC, Constancia de Situación Fiscal, opened a bank account, bought a house outside the restricted zone, changed each of the utilities to our name, and moved our personal goods here. Just closing on the house took 11 months and several trips to SRE headquarters in CDMX by the real estate agent to obtain their permission. We finally hired a highly recommended attorney who, after being frustrated himself, filed a complaint of dereliction of duty against one official in the SRE. Two weeks later we received our required documentation. It would have been SO MUCH EASIER if we had bought in a community where other expats and services like this exist. But we are learning the system and becoming acculturated. I tell people that speaking Spanish and being able to read newspapers and novels and history books is not half the real task of immigration; it is learning how to make things work that can break you. We are very stubborn; my wife's boss once commented that she would argue with a stop sign. We don't want to live in a resort or expat community, and we don't. But if you do, these services are worth every penny. If you are like us, be prepared to beat your head against a concrete wall until you break a hole you can wiggle through. It's been very tough, but it's worth it and we have made some wonderful friends along the journey. And Paul's advice has been very valuable.

@@Aaron-hr5bb That’s unfortunate; it really does depend on which office you work with as stated in the video. Here in Michoacán, the SRE staff was overly helpful and efficient with me and another person I know who dealt with them.

    • @Teporame
      @Teporame Рік тому

I have always done everything myself, and even when sometimes it was slightly more expensive or time consuming, it was worth it. You learn by trial and error, next time you will be more efficient and, besides, you get that fulfilling sense of agency, you can do things, learn in the process and can help others along the way. Last time, I learned about automotive AC, about what I did not know anything, spent 250 dollars in tools and supplies and several hours researching and doing the job. I saved myself a whole lot of money, fixed the problem, I learned how to do it efficiently, kept the tools and helped two relatives to diagnose and fix their problems. The problem in the USA is that we have lost the capacity or the drive to fix things ourselves and have become dependent on others for almost anything, because we are afraid of failure or frustration.

We arrived in Queretaro last week. Ivonne and her staff stood in line at INM the night before until the next morning to secure our appointments - TWICE, because they changed requirements overnight. But Wednesday night, they were in line again, and Thursday morning, we had the 1st and 2nd appointments for our residency card. They completed all of our paperwork for the application, picked us up and returned us home, gave us instructions on the process, and 4 hours later on the same day, we walked out of INM with our cards. We are using their services to assist with extending our TIP at the aduana. They are GREAT!

Great video! We are in the process of moving from the U.S. to Queretaro and we have been using Host Relocation to make the process so much easier....They had their drivers pick us up in Laredo Texas and drive our family of 5 and our dog all the way down to Queretaro....They helped us through the entire temporary residency process....They gave us a tour of the city and then found us a great apartment to rent....AND they took care of all of the paperwork and Aval process....We could not have done this without them....Ivonne and her team are great hard-working people and we HIGHLY recommend them to anyone relocating to Mexico.

I am so excited that she is handling everything for us. I can't recommend her enough. I am in a move to Mexico group and many people have used Ivonne and love her. I think we talked about their company doing tours of the close by cities as well. I think we want to have a tour of San Miguel and I want to talk to her about Mexico City as well. We just used Host Relocation Services this week to get temporary residency, tour the city and getting picked up and dropped off from the airport. Everything was perfect, they are very nice and professional. My wife and I highly recommend using them for anything they offer. We will use their services again in the future. Be very careful as to who you use. We saw a lot of people at INM that paid for help from other companies and didn’t get what they needed done. They were very upset and will now needed to go back to hopefully get everything done. Don’t make that mistake and waist your time and money. I can’t recommend HOST enough.

While I enjoy your videos and most are very informative, I must add that after just receiving our Perm. Res. Cards in SMA, I noticed that we were treated differently from those not using a facilitator. The guards or employees at the gate to enter INM were observing who were alone and who were with paid facilitators. They are viewed poorly for taking large sums of money to help us expats through these processes while the Gov employees make very little and do not receive monies or benefit from the facilitators. This goes for "ALL" Gov offices, such as when getting plates for your car, drivers licenses and especially your Temporary or Permanent Residency cards.
It took us 2 months to the day from our first interview in SMA at INM to receiving our Perm Res Cards, and three trips to the office. It's one visit and one day in Leon.
The first and second time at INM, we were were seen sitting with and chatting with our facilitator for hours, and I noticed she would not go anywhere near the front of the waiting area. Our paperwork from INM showed we were approved one month after our first appt. but still did not receive our cards for another month at our third visit??
The salesman(who refused to take any money for help) at a car dealership mentioned he could help us with drivers licenses and plates, as long as he was not seen at the Gov Offices. He mentioned the animosity and jealousy over the monies being charged by facilitators that in no way benefit the poorly paid Gov employees.
So keep it on the QT with your hired help at the offices!
BTW, I would use one again, but not be seen with them.

Great vlog, when we bought our home in Choula the entire process was so different. My wife, Mexican native, and I have worked in the legal field 30 years and are also both Realtors. We were able to manage the process only because my wife is, well, awesome, as well as a native Mexican with a strong grasp on speaking, writing and reading Spanish, and we also had the luxury of time. If we were to do it again, we'd use a relocation specialist for sure.

What we did not expect… I fell ill shortly after arriving in QRO and had no idea who to call. Ivonne and Katia went out of their way to put us in touch with a bilingual doctor and even called the pharmacy for us and had my prescriptions delivered to my home.

Our Real Estate agent guided us through the purchase (we found the house ourselves after renting in the area for 4 years) and set us up with the notary. We also used a local legal service to guide us through the Mexico side of our residency visa. We weren't coming in cold "relocating" as such, but even now we use a person like your guest to help us with various government services like obtaining our RFC and recently with a police report for insurance purposes (which took most of a morning). A good local "guide" is well worth the relatively small cost to help with the formalities and paperwork involved especially if you don't have fluent Spanish. Sure, you can do it yourself, but you'll find it much more confusing and frustrating, and you won't be saving much money by doing it on your own either.

Thank you so much for what you do! I’ve been watching UA-cam videos on Mexico for years now. Yours & Mexico Relocation Guide’s are the ones I’ve stayed with and gotten the most out of.
Just got my temp residency in Oct using a facilitator. I discovered from talking to others that I had the smoothest experience at both the Denver Mexican Consulate (I did that on my own) and at INM in San Miguel-only 1 hour! (Someone told me they were at INM all day.) When I finished at noon on Friday, they told me my card would be ready at 4 pm-or Monday. My facilitator picked up my card on Monday to verify that all the details were correct. I was very glad I hired her. I’m still not living there yet, so I’ll definitely be needing services like this one. Muchas gracias. And a shoutout to Linda: I so appreciate what you bring to the videos too. Keep up the good work!

It's so hard for us to figure where we want to be. I have been to PV 11 times. Love it..but it seems too expensive. We love the ocean but not sure where a reasonably priced place might be. We want to be walking distance to stores..beaches...

Great video! I speak Spanish and understand the bureaucratic Mexican system. However… I used a lawyer to obtain my visa temporal. 3 weeks and I was done! Visa temporal card in hand! I would recommend using someone to help you complete process! Saves time and money in the end!

My wife and I moved to Queretaro a little over 2 years ago and established a relationship with Host Relocation before we even moved here. They have assisted us with immigration papers and RFC so far. In addition they have answered many other questions that we have had and always a quick response and very knowledgeable. We couldn't imagine doing these things without Host Relocation.

Paul..we totally love you. You are a man of words so I am so surprised that you say 'ree la tor'. It is 'real tor' as it is spelled. Sorry...I was in sales for years and it bugs me so much when people say 'ree la tor'. Your guest says it correctly. Seriously, thanks for all you do! This was a wonderful video as they all are and we are so glad to learn of this service.

This could be very helpful for me. 👍 I have been in Thailand for the last month, and just returned to Mexico in the middle of November. The reason I left was I could not get a Temporal, meaning I could not buy a motorcycle to explore Mexico on. Tried getting an appointment for a Temporal in the US, no luck, Guadalajara, nada, the Embassy in Bangkok, no luck. So, I'm back here for 180 yet again, loving San Antonio Tlayacapan, but, no bike, and no way to explore Mexico..... 🙄

I have one question having trouble getting answer for: birth certificate, County clerk embossd/seal, ... and social security statement/letter w seal/notary from Soc. Sec Office. ??Does S.S. document need to be sent to US State Dept for Apostille ??? And Birth Certificate need to go to State for State Seal (equal to apostille). It already has official embossed seal from County Clerk.
