what about flight dynamics and realism for takeoffs, landings and how it feels in flight ? Is this worth the 30 USD? i would assume this is a pretty simple aircraft to develop? just wanting to make sure there is enough bang with buck , wind noise , engine sounds appear not good in this video.
Speaking of helmets and headtracking, my first headtracking setup was actually an app on my phone sending data from phone gyros and accelerometers to opentrack. I had to somehow mount my phone to my head reliably, so I actually ended up screwing a phone mount onto a bike/skate helmet, which I would wear while flightsimming xD
Top notch review! Absolutely agree on the sounds and documentation. On the AVSIM release thread someone from the team said they were already working on proper sounds, but indeed this feels a bit rushed. I will absolutely get the plane anyway, looooove Trent's channel and so this plane is absolutely iconic for me, and I am glad to see that overall it is very well done :)
Trent never used to have an autopilot, but he did a big upgrade a while ago that he called the "cub killer" that's when he put the 915 in, and did a bunch of avionics upgrades, including adding AP.
I nearly bought this when this video first came out, but then thought, 'Why do I need another random bush plane?' Yesterday I randomly watched Trent Palmers video on the whole Trevor Jacob thing, really liked him so decided to buy it. I really regret waiting, I can't figure out exactly why but Freedom Fox is the most fun aircraft ever! It flies like a tiny little WW2 fighter that you can land anywhere. And the tent is weirdly fun, just landing somewhere random and remote and chilling with the tent up. Why is that satisfying? No idea, but it really is.
Looks like I need to set my new year resolutions sooner. Let's start with: try not to go broke over flightsim addons and game sales before the end of January.. Thanks for another first look! I didn't follow this project closely, but nevertheless wasn't expecting it to be out so soon. Looks like I'll be adding another bush plane to my hangar!
bought the F16, the spitfire, the Su57(dnt buy it), the WYMF5, the Freefox full Package, the Kodiak and Fouga magister in 12 days 😂 + better airport mod (Really nice ! Works even with landing challenges !) Vessels mod and 3 seasons weather mods 😂❤

This was just released for the xbox today and it seems as though they fixed some things because I do get sound bleed when I open the doors and definitely a difference.

Then got the Got Friends Wilga, Project Stratosphere Kitfox S7 and will soon be getting the DE.....and this is just within the last week. Plus, watching some Trent Palmer on the side. 😂 I still love my helicopters, but Bush Flying is a whole new world of aviation I never knew existed.
December 24 Simbol of the design team posted on Avsim forum that further niceties are will be added right after Christmas including sounds and some other things.
So glad to see the extra liveries in there, the only thing holding me back on this is that Trent's livery is very in-your-face American. Hold released. You are quite right about the real Freedom Fox doesn't have an autopilot, on the right it has a Dynon D6 mini efis with the analogue engine instruments and a transponder, and the 'panel' on the left is a removable mini ipad with a steam airspeed gauge behind it (just in case) which explains why you see so much random stuff on it :) Hard to say on the sound, you don't get a lot of engine noise in his videos, but as you say if it's wrong I'm sure it'll get patched.
Oh snap. Yes, if I look at the latest video not the walkaround the panel is exactly like this. I didn't realise he'd updated, I must poke around in there further. Thanks for inspiring something to sneak off and watch on christmas day when everyone falls asleep after lunch :-)

Also he camps pretty often and uses the One wheel as well and straps it to the wing struts just like that. Looks like the devs and Trent did a very good job making this as close to rl as possible. 👏 👏 👏
This version of the Kitfox is the most expensive and powerful and is equipped with autopilot ( on request I think). That of Trent Palmer have one. I have seen two others equipped with that autopilot and with Garmin. I would have prefered also a more normal version with steam gauges but ... surely simmers prefer this one because without GPS they are unable to make a proper "old style" navigation. On MSFS they must not pay for such high priced device ..... in real life even that engine cost too much for a Kitplane like this. Most buyers opt for more quiet version of the Kitfox.
@@AvAngel yesss, the radial style version would have been cool, even because is well known worldwide. There are many even outside USA. This version have only a small amount of clients, most of them from Nevada, Utah, Colorado. They will not sell such kits outside USA. Just like the XCUB. There is only one in UK, one in Japan ... all the others only USA.
I too don't want you to explode during a review. :-) But if you do explode it might be a good idea to have your "head tracking helmet" on so you don't splatter brain matter all over your keyboard. :-) Yours are the reviews I hold in the highest regard. You just made my year. lol Love the Kit Fox too and Trent's channel so I will be buying that as well but Draco is just bad ass to another level. The only tail-draggers I fly are the Milviz Porter & the Husky. Whilst it looks nice, and does what it's supposed to do, nothing in this for me to go out an buy it. I think MSFS is now getting to a stage wheres there's options for a lot of classes, and it has to offer something better/different for me to splash the cash. And - as you say - no wind when you open the door is just bit meh for £23. 👍🏻
I know you like Bush Aircraft. Please ask MSFS if they can fix the non retractable gear on all the amphibians? Its very embarrasing! Gear is down, water landing and nothing happens! Cockpit instruments are ok, but externally, gear remains fixed? Also there is a verbal warning.."GEAR IS UP FOR A WATER LANDING" Looks rediculous in Asobo! Please sort it?
£22 isn't bad tbh... I'd say it's more than worth it with systems, the modeling quality and the handling. Sturdy little plane with two versions, especially a customisable one.

Terribly disappointed that the sound doesn’t change when the doors are opened.
Chances are that will patch, it's a bit of a derp.

I did expected more features since there was a big fuss and hype with this plane. Guess i'll have to wait till further updates.
